Prologue
Gems Academia High, the one school everyone wanted to get into, not only because it had all the privileges, but also because only the best taught here and whoever got in, were assured they were the best. You may be the richest kid on this planet, but without the talent, you aren't getting in here. The students were the best in studies and the best in sports. I fell into the latter category but I wasn't too bad at the former either.
As I entered through the gates of the school for the first time, I felt like I was part of some overdramatic movie where the entry was stretched for ten wasted minutes. But then, I did walk slowly, mainly due to the heavy load famously known as a school bag.
I didn't like one aspect of this school though. I still had to study. All I wanted to do was go out and play sports. Be it any kind of sport, basketball, football, volleyball, throw ball and my favorite, tennis. I'd gotten into this school because I was ranked number one nationally in tennis. It wasn't easy, but it was worth it.
As I entered the school and went past its walls, the first things I noticed were the lush greens on either side of the path. Greens would be putting it too broadly; there were flowers as well as trees. Basically, it looked like a hill station with it's perfectly cut grass and the fresh feel it gave.
As I strode ahead, I saw a wooden signboard on the right side of the path with directions to the hostel, main building, football field, tennis court, swimming pool and all other venues. My heart urged me to turn right and head towards the tennis court but my mind; my evil mind forced me to move straight to the main building.
Entering the building, I turned to see if there were any signboards here when suddenly; a shrill tone rang above my head, startling me and my poor eardrums. My eyes fell on the clock in front of me to see that it was already 9:30, indicating that two classes were already over. I turned the sheet in my hand to see which classes I had missed. On reading double physics, I thanked all the gods above that I was late.
Quickly skimming through the map, I saw that my class was on the second floor. Usually, I would have been gleefully happy due to the exercise I was undergoing but the bag wasn't making it any easier for me. Sighing, I dragged my feet up the stairs and found my classroom.
The class was eerily quiet and no one was to be found. Seeing that two of the last seats were unoccupied, I placed my bag there and since it was recess, I followed the map to the canteen. I was a sportswoman; I needed all the food I can get. And I hoped my luck would be as good as today's. After all, who liked Physics?
