What shapes a life? Is it a set of events that mold you and impact you? Or is it a group of people that affect you and leave an indelible mark on you? Or is it just a moment - that can pass you by in the blink of an eye, but when fate causes you to notice it, it stops your breath, holds you spellbound, tilts your axis and changes the entire course of your life!

It was his eyes - pool of liquid warmth, right now glinting through eyelids narrowed in concentration. There was anguish in them - a reflection of his sister's pain at being betrayed. An anger - at seeing his family hurt one more time. A defiance - at the fate that tries repeatedly to beat him down.
She didn't know when her eyes left Shyam's face and settled on him. She doesn't know what it is that has drawn her to him from the moment she stepped into that room and saw him lying on that bed. But she wanted to know - desperately needed to know - that he is alright. A helpless urge in her to smooth the frown, and soothe him - "sab theek ho jayega, aap fikar mat keejiye!" She whispered to herself. ("Everything will turn out fine, you please don't worry!")

And it was at that instant, that he looked at her - as if his soul sensed her - and their gazes locked. Her eyes widened, and his brow lifted just a fraction - and a small indent thats more of a reassurance than a smile appeared at one corner of his lips before his attention went back to what Shyam was saying.

And just like that, Khushi knew - that her life would never be the same again. A threshold has been crossed and her heart felt it with a small shudder of indrawn breath.
