Chapter 5

Ciao! This chapter is dedicated to my sister Shalu🤗 ...The very first person I considered as my bestie without even meeting her😃
Now after meeting her,she has become my dear sister❤️

"It's a helluva start, being able to recognize what makes you happy."

Some one knocked the door and I opened it wondering who it is.But I found a box instead of a person there.Oh god I hate these anonymous gifts.Yet this one seemed a little different with a post it on it.My dad never does that.I picked up the box, "I do care about the way you look and your choce does make a lot of difference for you and the one's around you" it read.There was no name on it but I know who sent it.Randhir.I opened the box eager to see what was inside.I found a platinum chain with star shaped diamond.The one we saw in the jewellery store.A smile spread across my face.I slowly moved to the mirror and put on the chain.It looked perfect with my blue printed palazzo pants and white sleeveless lace blouse.Anyhow I didn't give a damn about the dress or the chain or the way I looked.All I care is about what he said.Did he really mean it?Does he truly care about me?

"Sanyukta", Kaustuki shouted from behind interrupting my train of thoughts."Lets go,we are getting late", she dragged me out of the room.Till now I thought the party would be boring but now I have got some business to do with him in the party.We headed towards the west wing of the campus.The party was being held outdoors.Kaustuki kept on fussing about her make up on the way.As we reached the west wing,Kaustuki hurried towards Karan as if she was getting late for tonight's flirting session.I scanned the crowd for him after all he is the one I have got to deal with.But where is he?I moved through them looking for him and finally after 10 minutes I spotted him in a corner.He was in a white shirt with a black blazer and blue jeans.Ritu was beside him,no wonder he has that dead expression on.She was pawing' at him while he slowly distanced himself from her.So I made my way towards them to rescue Randhir."Randhir,you are here?But dean wanted to see you,didn't you go?" I asked faking a surprised expression.He frowned at me completely oblivious to what I was trying to imply."Oh no,please go before he loses his temper.You can talk to your friends later", I said widening my eyes which brought some light in his gloomy brain."Oh yeah yeah.Ritu you go to your friend,I will join you later", he pushed her away quickly.She walked away calmly with a sad expresssion on her face.He then turned to me,his face lit up like that of a 1000 watt bulb."I can't thank you enough Sanyukta", he sighed."There is no other way your pet is going to leave your side", I rolled my eyes.He laughed,"why exactly do you want my pet to leave?" he gave a wicked smile."Don't act smart.Why did you send this?" I pointed to the chain on my neck."Because I thought it looks beautiful on you", he answered spontaneously.I felt a little embarassed."What about that stupid note?" I scowled."Its not stupid I meant it", he cried out as if he knew I asked myself that question.I shook my head not wanting to say anything else.

"Fine,no intense talks.How about a stroll in the woods?" he grinned.I couldn't help but smile."Sounds good", I said.His eyes still have that happiness and it felt magical to me.What is he so happy about?"Come on", he took my hand and escorted me through the crowd.Within a few minutes we were out of the party,heading towards the woods.FITE is surrounded by woods on the north side and it is so beautiful."I used to love these walks when I was a kid", he stretched his arms."As if you always lived in a jungle", I joked.He laughed,"Nope,I was put in a boarding school and it was surrounded my woods on all sides.In the evenings me and Karan used to sneek out of our dorms and we used to go into the woods", he was inspecting each and every tree as if he can see them in this dark night."And you weren't scared?" I asked."Scared,no.Actaully we dared each other to go into the woods", he said."So you were a naughty kids then also", I waved my hand.He laughed,"you know what once I dared Karan to cut our caretaker's hair", he chuckled."Oh my god.Did he do it", I giggled."Of course I mean he should do it and he got caught too", he burst out laughing.I couldn't help but laugh too."Actually Arpita switched on the lights that night", he was still laughing."You were all quite mischievious then", I shook my head thinking about the happy life they have had at my age."Yeah,Karan was beyond dumb those days.Parth and Arpita used to fool him always", he smiled reminiscing every moment back then."What about you?You never did such things?" he asked me.I remained silent for a minute,"I met with an accident when I was a kid.So my childhood wasn't that good", I looked away hiding my tears.The memory of the accident always brings tears to me no matter how many years pass.

"I love climbing trees", he changed the topic to my relief."Yeah,monkeys always does that", I rolled my eyes."I love photography", he said ignoring my comment."Since when monkeys started loving things other than banana", I mocked."I am not hearing you", he closed his ears.I laughed,"yes you are". I tried to pull his hands from his ears."No I am not", he shouted shaking his head."Yes you are because monkeys are good at hearing', I was still pulling his arms from behind while moving backward.In the process I stumbled over a stone and fell backwards pulling him along with me.Thud!
