Part 19

1st Day

The Divorce papers were made by Arnav's lawyers on his commands . He only had to get his Di's signatures on it. He knew she herself had insisted for this but he had no guts to hand these papers to her. He was sitting in his room thinking the same when someone took the papers from him. He scanned upwards to see his Wife reading the papers and with a heavy heart looking at him.

Khushi: This was decided. You dont have to feel low for handing them to Di. A woman may be considered weak for her relationships but when those same bonds prick her, hurt her, she knows how to make her mind and end them. Di has taken this same decision Arnav. She is strong now.

Arnav's eyes were moist. He knew what Khushi said had a point but he also could feel the pain his sister was going through from within. He quickly hugged Khushi sitting on the bed while she stood standing numb with his sudden actions.

Arnav: I dont have the courage to give these papers to her Khushi. All these 8 years Di have always worshipped her marriage even when Shyam was never there with her. She loved him like no one else can ever love him. I cant see her in so much pain.

His emotional words were only driving Khushi's hand unintentionally in his hair to caress him. She did that without any hesitation, wrapping her other hand on his back.

Khushi: If you lose your confidence in settling Di's life back then who will support her? She is angry on you but I have seen Arnav, she needs you equally. She may have lost trust even in her Chotte but she knows he will make things right for her. You have to be strong at this point and make her believe you are with her. At every step of life ahead.

Her words motivated him again and he realised what their position was. He left her from that hug and then composed himself standing straight before her. Today she was seeing a responsible brother in him once again.She knew he did touch her today but it was only to get some solace. It was pure and unintentional. But why was she giving answers to herself for his actions? When did she start defending him?

SHe turned to leave but he held her hands and stopped her. They looked at each other again.

Arnav: Khushi kuch kehna tha tumse. (Khushi I had to tell you something). Thanks.. Thanks for everything. Its not easy to go against your own brother but you still did it. You didnt support his wrong motives . I dont know why I couldnt see this or feel this before?

Khushi moved her hands from his.

Khushi: I am doing this for Di . Some things cannot be rectified after the damage is done .But we can still try to mend them and save from any forthcoming storm. I am doing the same. I want Di to be safe because I care for her .Just like you do. Thats all. Yeh Sab hum Di ki khushi ke liye kar rahe hai. (I am doing all this for Di's happiness)

Arnav: Aur tumhaari Khushi? (And your happiness? ) Kya tum khush ho?

She didnt had any reply to his questions. She didnt try either to find them. Leaving him alone she walked out and he couldnt only sigh hoping her reply would be YES someday. He knew he had damaged their relationship a lot and he wanted to mend it forever giving her all the desired happiness. He needed one chance. Thats all.

2nd Day

One day had passed and he made no attempts at all in making her feel out of the world. He felt little uneasy thinking how is he supposed to impress his wife? What should he do to make her feel loved ? Arnav Singh Raizada was always the last bencher in such lessons and he was thinking alone about it when suddenly something popped in his brains. He quickly called Hari Prakash and gave him the orders.

The Lunch was ready and everyone were down to have the food. Since it was a weekend, Arnav was at home and working from here if needed. He saw Khushi getting Anjali out and then making her sit with everyone at the Dinning table.

Anjali: I will serve myself Khushiji. You sit and eat yours.

Khushi didnt argue. SHe sat beside her husband who was waiting for this moment when she will see today's lunch . Everything cooked today was her favourite. When HP started serving others, Anjali could notice that the dishes were cooked based on Khushi's choice . She saw Arnav who was waiting to get one glance from his wife who was sitting next to him.

Nani: Hari Prakash.. Today you have cooked everything as per the Bahu's favourite list.

Khushi realised what was happening and who must have ordered it.

HP: Jee Nani. Arnav Bhaiya told us cook Bhabhi's favourite dishes.

Nani saw Arnav and smiled because this was really a good way to make his wife feel loved but Khushi stood up immediately.

Anjali; What happened Khushi?

Khushi: Uhh. Di I am not hungry.

Arnav: Not hungry? Just now you were fine Khushi. What happened all of a sudden. Aur yeh sab I have made it for you.

Khushi: I dont feel like eating.

Saying that she left for their room and Arnav was very frustrated. He followed her too and everyone else just gaped hoping they sort things rather than dragging it this way.

Anjali: I cant believe Chotte can give khushi such a surprise.

Nani: Haan Bitiya. He is not the same like before. I knew everything about his forced marriage and even though at some point I hated Khushi for being Shyam's sister, I felt sorry for her because she was getting hurt just like you were by her husband and brother. But I noticed little changes in Chotte after some days. I know he didnt commit things properly but he still cares for his wife now unlike Shyam who couldnt do it in the last 8 years.

Anjali was upset but she didnt allow her tears to come out of her eyes thinking about her husband. She quietly ate the food along with others. After reaching their bedroom Arnav stopped Khushi and turned her in anger.

Arnav: Khushi what is your problem? I am doing something for you and instead of acknowledging it you are ignoring?

Khushi: What did you do for me? Just order the Servants to cook my favourite dishes.? I dont see any efforts from you here Arnav. Anyone can do this. If you think by such attempts in the coming 7 days you can win me, then you are wrong. These are not going to affect my decision. So stop wasting time and energy in all this Arnav and concentrate on Di and your work. I am there in this house and not running anywhere. You can see me everyday and call me your wife before everyone. No one will take away that right from you. But dont expect me to treat you like my husband . Thats it.

She left for the Poolside while he fisted his fingers in anger and left the room . She was really not an easy woman to be impressed.

3rd Day

Anjali and Khushi were sitting in Anjali's room and talking since few minutes about the to be born baby. Anjali was little tensed if the baby will be affected anyhow for not having a father but she knew there was nothing she could change. As she had accepted this fact , one day even the baby would.

Anjali: There was nothing left in that Marriage Khushi. It was always just me. Shyam was only fulfilling his motives behind it. I have no regret in taking this decision of divorcing him.

Khushi wiped her own tears hearing Anjali's talks. She didnt know what assurance should she give Anjali because she felt guilty too that the man who was responsible for Anjali's broken heart was her own brother. Arnav came inside that same moment with some medicines in hand and placed it at the side table. He was probably leaving for work. Anjali turned her face not to see him and maintained her ignorance. He sat beside his Di on the bed.

Arnav: Di the new medicines have been kept. Dont forget to take them on time. What time is your appointment with the Dr?

Anjali didnt even look at him . She saw Khushi and replied back.

Anjali: Khushi tell him, he doesnt need to bother about me anymore. I am not interested to take his company for the Check up.

Khushi had no idea whom should she support. In one side she could understand what Anjali was going through by the deeds of her brother and the other side she wasnt even able to see her husband's pain when his Di ignored him to this extent. She had seen him spending sleepless nights since past 2 days thinking how he can make things right. She had felt his repentance, his remorse on cheating his sister and making his wife's life miserable. She was just waiting to see how in these remaining 5 days he will win her love and rights.

Arnav: Di I just want you to be safe.

Anjali: I will feel more safe when Khushi will take me for the check up.

Arnav gulped down his depression and then turned to Khushi who was watching him.

Arnav: I will ask the Driver to take your both. If you need me, just call me on my number.

He left without taking any response from Khushi. She knew he felt bad but was there anything she could do to make him feel better?

She was in the KItchen when HP came and told her some kid had come to see her. She was confused on who the Kid can be. She came out and saw a baby girl of 6 years old with a Bouquet in her hand.

Baby: This is for you.

She extended the bouquet and some card which was tied to it and ran outside. Khushi couldnt even stop her or ask her who gave it and why? She opened the Card and read her husband's written words. "I know Sorry is not enough. Sometimes you need to change yourself . I am doing the same. Just need a chance "

She placed the bouqet aside with the Card. Thats when another baby girl came in with another bouquet and card. Khushi was surprised. She gave it to Khushi and kissing her cheeks she ran out. Khushi opened the second card too.

"It's hurting me every second realizing I hurt you. I'm sorry, please feel it Khushi"

She sighed and placed the card down only to receive another one and this time from a baby boy. She didnt understand where these kids came from . She opened the card. "Be angry on me, scold me, but please talk to me and I'll makeup for the rest"

She was liking such little quotes from her husband for sure. It showed how much serious he was in making her forgive him . She got up and waited for the next baby to come in and it did happen. The baby came with another card and bouquet but Khushi didnt allow her to go out. She made her stand with her until she reads this.

"For a man apologizing is one of the hardest things to do because our ego is big . I am dropping it only for you. Please forgive me Khushi"

She had a smile on her face but she hide it and asked the girl where Arnav was. The girl dragged her out to the maind door and there she saw a bunch of kids in their school dress waiting outside with Arnav in the middle kneeling and still writing the quotes on the card and they helping him to stick it to the bouquets so that he could send them in. The moment he saw Khushi out, he just stood up and gestured her from his eyes if he was able to get his forgiveness or not. She sighed and noded and No walking back in.
