Chapter-2

The picture was in a newspaper cutting clicked in some school in Shimla around 2 days ago. A famous cricketer was in the school for some inauguration. But in the background he could clearly see Sanyukta talking to one of the students.

Sanyukta...

The name escaped his lips as he continued to caress the picture on his laptop with tear filled eyes.

If this is a dream then I don't want to wake up. I'll sleep forever.

He remembered the last conversation that they had in her bedroom.

Sanyukta's house

11.30 pm

"Randhir bhai. Agar hum log pakde gaye na to bahut maar padegi. Mujhe darr lag raha hai." Said Jiggy looking in all the directions hiding behind the wall of Sanyukta's house compound.

"Chup kar Jiggy! Main Sanyukta ko mile bina nahi jaane waala. Teen din se use baat nahi hui hai and uska phone bhi switched off aa raha hai. I have a feeling that kuch gadbad hai." Said Randhir eyeing Sanyukta's window.

"Sanyukta ke ghar pe kutta to nahi hai na?" asked Jiggy wiping his sweat.

"Parth, chup kara isko warna pitega mere haathon se bekaar ka!" said Randhir to Parth in an irritated tone.

"Chup ho na Jiggy. Waise Randhir, ye Sanyukta ke room mein ghusne ka plan mujhe bhi safe nahi lag raha. I don't believe it main bhi yahaan khada hun." Said Parth stretching to see the watchman's position.

"Tu yahaan khada hai kyunki tujhe bhi Sanyu ke liye tension hai. And Jiggy tu yahaan hai kyunki hum dono yahaan hai. Samjha. And tum logon ko andar jaane ke liye nahi keh raha hun. Tum logon ko bas us watchman ka attention divert karna hai taaki main uske ghar ke compound mein ghus sakun. Baaki main dekh lunga. Now go!" said Randhir pushing them in the direction of the watchman.

Parth walked confidently in the direction of the watchman while Jiggy just trailed behind Parth.

"Arey bhaiya. Ye Kashyap ji ghar pe hain kya?" said Parth as he neared the watchman.

"Kashyap ji? Ye Aggarwal sahab ka ghar hai." Said the watchman in a serious tone.

"Arey kyun mazak kar rahe ho bhaiya. Humein pata hai ye Kashyap ka ghar hai. Jao unhe bolo unhone jinhe bulaaya tha wo log aa gaye." Said Jiggy rubbishing the watchman.

"Arey main mazaak kyun karunga? Main yahaan paanch saal se kaam kar raha hun. Mujhe pata nahi hoga." Said the watchmanto Jiggy.

"Par humein to yahin address diya tha. Dekho." Said Parth showing him a piece of paper.

"Arey bhaiya yakeen nahi hota to ye bahaar ke name plate padh lo na. Kya likha hai? Aggarwal House'." Said the watchman as he showed them the name plate.

Parth and Jiggy saw Randhir sneaking into the compound. As soon as he was out of sight, they took a sigh of relief.

"Shayad galat address diya hai. Chalo. Thank you bhaiya" said Parth and both of them moved out.

"I hope Randhir Bhai pakde na jaaye" Said Jiggy eyeing the compound back.

In Sanyukta's room.

As Randhir climbed into her room, he looked around as she was not on her bed.

"Ye kahaan gayi" he thought.

But as he took another step in, he saw her lying on the floor near the foot of the bed with something clutched tightly to her heart.

"Why is she sleeping here?" he thought and made his way towards her.

But what he saw when he sat on the floor to see her face made his heart cring.

She had dark circles around her eyes. And there were dry tear trails across her face which clearly meant she had been crying like hell.

He gently caressed her hair and picked her in his arms carefully so that she doesn't wake up.

He put her on the bed and out of curiosity freed whatever she was clutching so hard from her grasp as if her life depended on it.

What he saw got him into tears. It was their farewell pic that Jiggy clicked.

He gently placed the frame on the table and kissed her on the forehead.

As he got up and was planning to get down from the window, he heard her.

"If this is a dream then I don't want to wake up. I'll sleep forever. Mujhse mile bina hi chale jaoge?" she spoke in a tired voice.

He turned and saw her sitting on the bed with teary eyes and the most beautiful smile. She truly was his angel.

He kept staring at her fighting his own tears which were on the verge of finding an escape route from his eyes. She knew her condition was giving him a tough time to speak anything. So she had to take the initiative.

She spread her arms open and beckoned him to come in her arms. He took two unsteady steps and then climbed the bed and came into her embrace. He held her tightly and his head was lying on her chest listening to her heart while she was caressing his hair lovingly. She kissed his forehead and he closed his eyes absorbing her touch.

"Kuch bolo na Randhir. Atleast mera naam hi le lo." asked Sanyukta after a while still caressing his hair.

He freed himself from her embrace slowly and stood near the mirror of her room fisting his hands as if controlling.

She knew she had to do something or else his anger will take over him.

"Sanyu. Tum mere saath abhi chal rahi ho. Samaan lena hai to le lo nahi to waise bhi chal sakti ho. Your decision" said Randhir without looking at her.

"Randhir, ye kya keh rahe ho? Maine kaha tha na ki main sab theek kar dungi. Give me sometime Baby" she literally begged knowing that he was dead serious.

On hearing this he grabbed her and pushed her on the nearby wall. She saw him literally flaring.

"Kaise theek karogi Sanyu? Mujhse apni condition chupa ke, right? Saari takleef akele jhel ke, right? Ya fir akele ro-ro ke? Answer me damn it!!" he said punching the wall next to her head.

"Randhir.." she tried to calm him down by placing his hand on his cheek which never reached its destination as he grabbed it and pinned it to the wall too and leaned into her with a mere centimeter distance between their lips.

"Don't even try Sanyukta Aggarwal. Don't try to calm me down. Tumhara ye haal dekh ke kaisa lag raha hai pata hai mujhe? I feel betrayed. Mann kar raha hai ki aas paas sab kuch jala doon. Ab tum khud mujhe bataogi ya main neeche jaake tumhare ghar waalon se puchu ki tumhara haal aisa kaise hua hai! " he said in a dangerously clipped tone.

She looked down and told him everything in one go.

The day she reached back her home after exams, her father informed her that he is going to fix the date of her marriage with Sameer. That is when she decided to tell him about Randhir. But the moment she said she loved Randhir, a tight slap fell on her cheeks. None of her pleas were heard. She tried to reason with him every day for almost a week, but his brother was always there to fill his father's ears against her. 3 days back when he told her that he is getting her married in the next 15 days, she decided to leave but was forcibly locked in her room.

"Main tabse tumse baat karne ki koshish kar rahi hun but bhai ne mera cell tod diya and yahaan ka landline ka bhi connection katwa diya. Jab ghar pe koi nahi tha tab maine apne watchman ke haathon tumhe letter post kiya tha. Shayad tumhe kal tak mil jaata. Aur waise bhi main jaanti thi ki tum aaj kal mein aa hi jaoge mere paas if u dont hear from me. Aur rahi baat mere physical state ki to wo maine ghusse mein teen din se khana nahi khaya hai isiliye." she said still looking down with tears flowing continuously from her eyes.

Suddenly she felt his lips on both her cheeks kissing away her tears and then finally landing on her lips. He kissed her fiercely and passionately claiming every inch of her mouth with his tongue.

As their kiss grew intense with every passing moment, he left her hand which was pinned to the wall and as if on its own free will her hands encircled around his necks clutching his hair and pulling him more closer. His hands snaked around her waist and clutched her kurti in an almost ripping-tightness. He stopped after sometime due to lack of air and hugged her tightly.

It felt like it was ages since they last kissed or were so close to each other. She gripped his shirt tighter as if fearing that he would vanish.

"Aur ek aansu bahaya na Aggarwal, to mujhse bura koi nahi hoga. " he said in a threatening tone.

She smiled and parted from him. Then she made him sit on her bed and went to the bathroom to wash her face.

As she came out she found the room empty. Was it a dream? She was wondering when she found a note near their pic.

"Will be back in 15 mins Farzi"

She smiled and sat on the bed waiting for him. He came in precisely 15 mins with a polythene in his hands. He sat on her bed in front of her and took out the contents.

2 burgers, 2 french fries, a couple of energy chocolates and a box of Glucon-D.

"You have to finish all this in 20 mins. And your time starts now" said Randhir looking at her watch.

"Par Randhir.." Said Sanyukta trying to reason seeing the quantity of the food.

"19 mins and 30 seconds" Said Randhir counting.

She knew her pleas would fall on deaf ears so she started eating. In around 20 mins she had eaten 2 burgers, 2 french fries and 1 energy chocolate.

When she looked at him, she found him smiling. Oh God! She could have eaten a whole tank for that smile.

He took a glass and mixed water and Glucose and asked her to drink it which she obediently did.

"Baat maante hui achchi lagti ho." He said pinching her cheeks.

"Chup karo MCP" she said freeing her cheeks from his hands and climbed on his lap.

"You love me na Sanyu?" asked Randhir looking deeply in her eyes.

"More than you'll ever know" she said pecking him on his lips.

"Then kal hum shaadi kar rahe hain. Taiyaar rehna and I'll come to take you." He said in a final tone. Before she could utter a word he said:

"Main janta hun ki tum apne ma and papa ki marzi se shaadi karna chahti thi but ab option nahi hai Sanyu. Tumne jo kaha maine wo kiya na. But ab jo main kahunga tumhe wo karna padega. Bahut kuch khoya hai maine life mein par tumhe nahi kho sakta. I promise shadi ke baad main tumhe yahaan le ke aaonga and tumhare papa se baat karunga. Ok?"

Feeling the gravity of the situation she nodded.

"Ok. Par tumhe aane ki zarurat nahi hai. Main aa jaungi. Kal subah 11 baje yahaan se 2 km pe jo Shiv mandir hai wahaan pe." She said.

"But..." he was about to reason with her.

"I will be there I Promise" she said looking into his eyes conveying every word she said.

He nodded.

"Chalo. Ab tum jao." She said pulling him from the bed and pushing him towards the window.

"Agar tum gyarah baje tak nahi pahunchi to main aa jaunga yahaan. Ok?" he said climbing down the window sill.

"Ok baba. Ab jao. Arey ruko ek minute." She said pulling him back with his collar.

"Kya?" he said looking into her eyes.

She gently kissed him.

"Ab jao" she smiled and left his collar.

He smiled and climbed down the window.

But she never came the next day. When he went to her house he found the police already there and before he could comprehend anything he was handcuffed and taken into custody for Sanyukta's kidnap. He was tortured a day and was continuously asked about Sanyukta's whereabouts before his mom got him out. From that day he kept searching for her for almost a year, but it felt as if she had vanished from thin air. The police also gave up. It took him another year to come into terms with life without Sanyukta in it. He left everything and came to US to start a new life but he was still searching for Sanyukta without any results until today.

He called his PA and asked him to cancel all his meetings and book the first flight to India.

But there was one question which was continuously bothering him. If she was fine then why didn't she contact him? And all the answers laid with her.

"Sanyukta Aggarwal , I am coming for you."
