Chapter 9: The one with the window (UNEDITED; There will be a lot of mistakes)
Tonight the moon was playing peek-a-boo, weaving in and out of ribbons of black clouds wavering across the sky, casting an eerie, translucent light on the graveyard of buildings.
Randhir parked his car in a deserted street behind a one story high building.
"Is this the part were you tell me you're going to kill me and I scream for help?" Sanyukta half-joked climbing out.
"Nah I don't think I'm going to give you any heads up when I'll kill you."
"Riiight."
Randhir started walking towards the front of the building and Sanyukta followed right behind him. They stopped in front of a cinder block grey building with an electric sign flashing Black tie Pool Hall.
"You brought me to a pool game?!" Sanyukta said failing to keep the amazement in her voice. "Really Randhir? Out of all the place pool game?"
Randhir shrugged. "You said you wanted to go somewhere dangerous, so here you are."
Sanyukta shook her head. "I'm not going in."
"You know, Billiards was the first sport to have a world championship."
Sanyukta frowned. "What? I don't care. I'm not going in!"
Randhir raised an uncaring shoulder. "Fine, stay there." His mouth moved into another barely-there smile. Hard to say if it was mocking or friendly. "Just a heads up, this"- he gestured ecomassingly- isn't a friendly neighbor."
Sanyukta stiffened and looked at either side of her. The streets were deserted and there were no streetlights making it impossible to see anything ahead.
As she saw it, she could do one of the two things: stand back and see if it's true about the neighborhood being dangerous, or ditch her stupid feeling at least for once and go inside and have a little fun. Chances were she will have to play pool but if she stayed here, she could easily get in trouble. She looked at Randhir trying to figure out his intentions, but it was hard to say if he was joking or serious. Then she shifted her gaze towards the building that had a plate-glass window offering a view inside to the pool hall and bar. Sanyukta felt an over whelming desire to run back to the car and drive all the way back but she sighed realizing she had no option but to follow him inside.
"Who are they?" Sanyukta asked pointing towards the two men with shaved head and goatees standing just outside the door.
"Guards."
"Are we safe?"
Randhir slanted a look sideways. "Sanyukta."
"Just asking."
"Well if you think I'd let anything happen to you, then you don't know me at all."
When they got to the front of the line, the cashier eyed both of them for a moment.
"What's up Jay?" Randhir said giving him a nod.
Jay returned the nod. "50 each." He trained his watchful stare on Sanyukta.
Sanyukta unnerve by his threatening stare, looked away. Shoving down the danger his gaze stirred inside her, she started examining the paintings on the wall. She had seen many painting in her life. However, all these painting on the wall were different and unique, as if they had some hidden meaning. There was one in which the color were so vivid, the details so violent.
"The fall of phaeton." Randhir informed her from over the counter. "The Greek son god Helios had a son, Phaeton, by a mortal woman. Each day Helios drove a chariot across the sky. Phaeton tricked his father into letting him drive the chariot, even though Phaeton wasn't strong or skilled enough to handle the horse. As expected, the horses ran wild and fell to earth burning everything in their path."
Randhir went back to talking to Jay and Sanyukta started observing the other paintings. She stopped to take in another breathtaking oil painting.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
Sanyukta jumped at the voice. She was too busy staring that she failed to notice Randhir standing beside her.
She smiled. "Indeed. But I don't unders-"
"Soul mates." Randhir said, his stare still focused on the painting. "It's written in Greek."
"Oh."
"It was made by Lee Bogel. I don't know who that is by the way." Randhir continued with a laugh. "You know according to the Greek mythology, the first humans were created with four arms, four legs and four eyes. They had two noses and two mouths and they terrified Zeus- the god of heaven. He believed they had eminent powers and feared there would come a day when one would take his place as Ruler. To prevent such an incident from ever occurring, Zeus split each human in half and left them to wander aimlessly around the mortal world searching for their other half. Their one true soul mate."
Sanyukta looked like she was scrambling for a response. For a split second, she thought he was trying to tell her something else. But maybe she was mistaken. Randhir was way too unpredictable for her. When she thought he'll take her someplace nice like a restaurant or a movie, he took her somewhere she could have never imagined. She looked up at Randhir, who has his eyes still focused on the painting, and she could not help but ask, "Do you believe in soul mates?"
At this Randhir shifted his gaze towards her. Her eyes were intense and so captivating you swear that you could just dive into them with the peak of awe nipping at your facial features. He, instead of answering, said. "Do you?"
"Maybe." Sanyukta shrugged. "I believe in the immeasurable power of love; that true love can endure any circumstance. And you know, a soul mate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. So what about you?"
She turned towards Randhir waiting for his answer but Randhir just watched her with his dark eyes in silence, smiled then headed towards the elevator.
Sanyukta had no idea what that smile meant. Was it a yes or no? She wanted to ask him but thinking it will look desperate and needy, she decided its better not push the topic any further. She followed him.
"So um, if you do play pool then you should know where the game was originated?"
Sanyukta asked though she had no idea what the answer was. She just wanted to test him or rather talk to him. About everything. About anything.
"Nobody really knows the origins of billiards." Randhir told her. "The common belief is that the game originated as a game that was played outdoors which was a bit different from croquet that was played early in the 14th century in France. Its said it became quite popular and when the cold weather did not allow the game to be enjoyed outside, it moved indoors and was played on a table that was covered with green felt."
Sanyukta just looked at him render speechless.
Downstairs the pool hall looked exactly like she imagined it. Cinder-block walls painted black. Red felt pool tables at the center of the rooms. Poker table scattered around the fringe. Low track lighting curved across the ceiling flashing everywhere like police sirens, but much more colorful. The music soared through the air like an eagle on an up draft, taking with it the very souls of the listening audience.
Nestled between the poker table and the bar were a row of pool tables and they choose the table at the end, far from the bar or any other table in site.
It was like stepping into a morgue. The air-conditioning was so strong Sanyukta could feel it on his forehead and on the palms of his hands, fast freezing her sweat.
"It's a L-little c-cold." Sanyukta chattered tucking her hands into her armpit.
"I told you to bring a jacket, didn't I?"
"Well, I'm sorry I dint knew you are going to take me to the ice age."
Randhir let out a mocking laugh, shucking off his jacket and handing it to her.
Sanyukta looked away crossing her arms over her chest. "I don't want it now,"
Randhir tsked, tossing his jacket on a metal folding chair pushed against the wall. He then moved towards the switchboard, turning off the ac above them.
"Oh." Sanyukta said lamely realizing she could have done it herself. If she knew.
"Its funny that the church in France considered pool as immoral." Randhir said glancing towards the rack of pool sticks.
Sanyukta's brow drew together. "They did?"
Randhir nodded. "Let's play. Grab a cue."
"I don't even know how to play." Sanyukta confessed looking back and forth.
Something that resembled a twisted smile crept over Randhir's face.
"What?" Sanyukta asked.
"It's easy." He said, coming beside her, "I can teach you. Eight-ball is played with 16 balls: a cue ball, and 15 object balls consisting of seven striped balls, seven solid-colored balls and the black 8 ball."
Sanyukta gave him a sly look. "You do know right? That I'm not getting anything you are saying."
Randhir wiped a hand down his mouth to erase a smile. "I know." He moved towards the rack of pool sticks mounted on the wall. After picking one, he carried it back to the table.
"Take it." He said holding it out to Sanyukta.
"Are u deaf or something? I just said I don't know how to play!"
The song changed and a small pleasant tune started humming through the speakers.
Randhir moved behind Sanyukta, put his hands on his waist and positioned her in front of the table. Sanyukta's heart was beating furiously at his bold move. She felt like every fiber of her being was vibrating with anticipation. God knows how thankful she was for not facing Randhir. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been hard to notice the crimson color painted all over her face.
I can't fight this feeling any longer
And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow
What started out as friendship, has grown stronger
I only wish I had the strength to let it show.
Randhir slowly slid his arms around her and took hold of the pool stick. Sanyukta shivered at his touch. As if his actions weren't enough, the song was making everything even worse for Sanyukta. The adrenaline coursing through her system was shutting down her ability to think logically. She wanted to run or beat the living daylights out of the guy responsible for the music playing, either would do.
"Like this." Randhir said slowly, repositioning her right hand up several inches and planting her left hand on the pool table like a tripod. "Bend a little at the waist."
Sanyukta leaned a little into the pool table, with Randhir's breath warming her neck. She really hoped he wouldn't hear the pounding of her heart.
Randhir pulled back on the pool stick and it glided through the circle.
And even as I wander
I'm keeping you in sight
You're a candle in the window
On a cold, dark winters night
And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might
"Which ball do you want to hit?" Randhir asked, referring to the triangle of balls at the far end of the table.
"Blue stripped one." Sanyukta replied feeling proud she didn't stutter.
"Blue it is."
Randhir drew the stick back and forth aiming at the cue ball.
Sanyukta's arm jerked forward and the pool stick shot through her fingers, ramming the cue ball.
And I cant fight this feeling anymore
I've forgotten what I started fighting for
Its time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars
Baby, I cant fight this feeling anymore
The cue ball shot forward, shattering the triangle, making the ball ricochet in all the direction. The stripped blue, impacted with solid green, dropped into the pocket.
Randhir pulled away and Sanyukta gave out a nervous laugh. "I'm a bit impressed."
Randhir moved around the table, scrutinizing the layout of balls. He bent at the pool table then looked up at her. The look warned her skin and she felt a jolt of heat shot through her arms and ended with a squeeze in her stomach.
My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you
Ive been running round in circles in my mind
And it always seems that Im following you, girl
Cause you take me to the places that alone Id never find.
"Damn it!" Sanyukta murmured instantly looking away.
As if she wasn't already sweating enough, the song seemed to rise her internal temperature to another degree.
Randhir pushed up from the pool table. "What?"
"I don't like this song."
"Why?"
"Um... long story." Sanyukta muttered not knowing how else to explain. If this kind of songs kept playing with Randhir being this close to her, she was pretty sure her heart will leap out any second and will blurt out all the truth. "I'm just going to ask the guy over there," she pointed towards a boy in his mid-20's sitting beside the music system, "to change the song and play something rocking"
Randhir frowned. "And why do you think Ash will help you?"
"You know him too?" Sanyukta raised her eyebrow wondering why he knew almost everyone here. "And anyways guys like him will do anything for a beautiful lady."
Without waiting for Randhir's respond, she headed towards ash. His set-up was on the raised platform, and Sanyukta decided to talk to him or rather request from down.
"Excuse me?" Sanyukta called out to him hoping he would hear over his headset.
Ash looked up. He placed his headset on the table and climbed down. "Yes lady?"
Sanyukta was rather surprised at his tone. She, seeing his huge figure, expected his voice to be rough and tough instead it was gentle. "Uh, can you do me a favor?" she asked hopefully giving him a charming smile.
"Anything for a pregnant lady." Ash smiled back.
The smile from Sanyukta's face vanished immediately. Did he just call her a pregnant lady? She just wanted to beat this guy in the shine. However, knowing the fact that she still wanted help from him, she forced a smile. "Really? Pregnant lady? Anyways, I just wanted to ask you if you can change the song."
Ash raised his eyebrow communicating a silent why?'
"You see the guy at the last pool table who is wearing black shirt?" Sanyukta pointed towards where Randhir was.
Ash's gaze shifted over her shoulder where Randhir was standing, looking at them. "The one who is looking at you?" He inquired
Sanyukta nodded. "Yeah. Well the thing is... I think I like him ok. So the songs you are playing are just making everything worse. Cant you just change it to something better?"
Ash adopted a thoughtful expression, his gaze still focused behind her. "I understand. I mean look at him. I just want to tear those clothes of him right now!"
Sanyukta's jaw dropped open. She looked at Ash for several other second before managed to speak again. "Are you... are you... gay?"
"What was your first clue?"
"Ah! Calling me a pregnant lady!"
Ash winked. "So you think he's into guys?"
Sanyukta laughed. "I'm pretty sure he's not."
"So he's into girls huh?"
"yea- actually he's not even into girls. God knows what is he!"
After talking with ash for another five minutes, Sanyukta turned around to go back to her table.
A figure stood straight ahead. The guy, who was staring at her (it was hard to say if he was looking at her or someone else with his sunglasses on), wore a loose black silk shirt with leather cuffs and black trousers. Sanyukta stopped midstride glancing past him to her table only to find it empty. Randhir was not standing there or anywhere in site. Sanyukta's heart dropped a few beat as the stranger walked towards her. Where the hell did Randhir go now? She thought.
"Hello... what do we have here?" The guy purred.
If rape, murder or any other miscreant activities were on his mind, he had cornered her in the perfect place. No one here looks like a person who will help someone in need.
"Can I help you?" Sanyukta asked, trying to keep her voice steady. She noticed a scar, long and white, etched across his left cheekbone. It probably meant he was in some sort of gang or something.
"Yeah" the guy said taking off his sunglasses. His blue eyes seemed to gleam with a baleful fire, but his dark face remained as unchangeable as marble. "I want something."
"W-what?"
"You."
Sanyukta shuddered glancing past him again. Randhir was still nowhere in site. Did he leave her here on purpose? Alone with some strangers? Oh, he is so dead!
Sanyukta met his blue eyes sharply. "Sorry I think you have mistaken me with someone else."
"No, I think I'm talking to the right one."
Sanyukta stood taller, determined to show him she wasn't going to be scared off that easily, but she felt a shiver ran down her spine. "Ok mister I don't care what you need or what the hell you want! I'm here to have fun and play pool. So you flush yourself down the toilet otherwise you are dead, you hear me? DEAD! Because believe me, I'm not in a good mood so I've no idea what I'm going to do to you!"
The guy gave her a measured look, his lips parting slightly. "I know pregnancy makes a girl a little cocky and a bitch but c'mon green doll don't be like that."
"My, my, aren't you optimistic?" Sanyukta said crossing her arms over her chest
"Listen I don't know who you are and I don't even want to know." She just wanted to get away from there. No matter how handsome, the guy is, yeah she admits it, he looked equally scary as if he's a part of a gang. His broad shoulder and huge body gave away the fact that he could possibly be a good person. "Wait did you just call me green doll?" She asked.
"What if I did?"
"I don't like it."
He grinned. "It stays. Green doll."
Sanyukta had a terrible feeling in her stomach. Why on earth will someone call a girl green doll'? The name did not even make sense. Plus apart from her eyes that had a tiniest glint of greenness, there was nothing so green about her.
Sanyukta was about to shout for help, when a familiar voice came from behind her.
"C'mon Danny, give her a break. You don't want her to hate you now, do you?"
Danny grinned. "Here is he! Randhir!"
Randhir emerged from behind Sanyukta and both the guys gave each one manly hug while Sanyukta stood there with a blank look.
The guy backed up against the pool table beside her and struck his hands out sideways. "My name is Danny, love."
Sanyukta reluctantly slid her hands into his. "Sanyukta."
"I know." Danny turned towards Randhir. "you dint tell me she's like an angle."
Randhir snorted. "Wait and watch, it wont take much time for her to turn into a devil."
"Hey!" Sanyukta protested giving Randhir a cold look.
Danny punched Randhir's arm playfully. "So Randhir what about a game of foosball. Lets see who wins!"
Randhir hooted. "Oh yeah!"
"Whose side are you on Sanyukta?" Danny asked her.
"Uh..." Sanyukta stuttered, knowing she wanted to take Randhir's side but said, "I, uh, yours."
"Thats my green doll." Danny winked again and Sanyukta laughed. "I think you'll win."
Randhir smiled. "Fine we'll see that, green doll."
Sanyukta took a step back. He used Danny's patronizing endearment but it felt more like an insult than mocking.
The three moved towards the foosball table, which were two tables away. Randhir and Danny started playing while Sanyukta stood there unsure of what to do next. She watched the two playing for another five minutes but then got bored. She looked at them before moving towards the table where she kept her purse. Fetching her cell out of it, she checked for messages. She had received two from kaustuki and one from Parth.
Where the hell did he took you? - Kaustuki
You are still alive right? Want me to call the police? - Kaustuki.
Sanyukta rolled her eyes as she typed a reply. M fine kaustu. He took me 2 a pool game n is bsy playn foosball wid his frnd Danny so if I dnt return till midnight its probably bcuz I killed myslf. - Sanyukta
After hitting the sent button, she checked Parth's.
Jst had a fight wid a guy. Turned out anya had a bf who is the size of mount Everest. - Parth
Yeah? Are you ok? Did you break up with her? - Sanyukta.
No Sanyu, I'm still wid her since I really like being beaten up nd i want to b thrown of the stairs again -_- where r ya? - Parth.
Out. Randhir brought me to a pool game - Sanyukta.
&%#@//??! U guys are on a date! - Parth.
Sanyukta rolled her eyes. Its nt a date. He just brought me here. No biggie - Sanyukta
2 ppl of opposite sex who btw hv also seen each othr naked on bed (nice ;)) r playn a game of pool whch btw is da most romantic game f all time. Sounds lyk a date to me. Enjoy nd yeah dnt loose your self cntrl again, alright? We don't want 4 babies nw, do we?- Parth
Sanyukta sighed snapping the phone shut. She closed her eyes replaying of what had happened. The touch of Randhir's hand on her waist, his breath warming her neck, his hot intent gazes...
"I won!" Randhir's hooting voice caught her off guard. Sanyukta opened her eyes to see Danny shaking his head and Randhir laughing.
His laugh told sanyukta he had won which wasn't that unexpected. She knew Randhir was going to win.
Randhir looked at her from across the foosball table, and smiled. But it wasn't one of those nice smiles; it was more like a mocking smile.
Sanyukta felt the fluttering of her heart again. Randhir seldom smiles with his lips, but it is his eyes that shine instead, and it is this radiance that makes every man and woman who sees it feel the irresistible impulse to smile, too, for this smiling of the eyes is the most sincere and pure emotion Randhir would ever show, even if he didn't want to show it. The eyes never lie - if she could say those four words to advise one on how to understand Randhir's thoughts, those would be the four she'd choose.
Sanyukta didn't realize she was smiling back until she noticed the two making their way back. She quickly looked away trying to hide the smile and gain a face, which had disappointment written all it. After all, the guy she betted on lost.
"I told you I'll win." Randhir smirked looking at sanyukta while Danny let out a laugh.
"Well I can see that. What about another game? I bet you 100 you won't win this time."
Randhir smiled, his black eyes shinning mischievously. To say that his eyes were black was like saying that the sun was yellow. Sufficient but not accurate to capture the burning. "I don't want your money."
Sanyukta was about to ask him what does he want when Danny interrupted.
"Randhir I'm going to the town to meet sassy next Saturday, you wanna come?"
Randhir grinned, his eyes shinning brightly. "Hell yeah I do!"
Sanyukta scratched her ears. She never saw him smile like this when it comes to meeting someone. "Who is sassy?"
Both the head turned towards her as if they forgot she was still there.
"Um..." Randhir hesitated for a moment but when Danny poked him in the arm, he said, "She is Danny's uncle's giraffe."
"Oh."
"Randhir loves her a lot green doll." Danny piped in. "More than anything."
"Oh wow that's... cool." Sanyukta said. "But uh Randhir, we are having doctor's appointment this Saturday, don't you remember? I think your memory is loosing."
Randhir gave her an ironic snort. "My brain is fantastic. Once I enter something there, it never escapes but when you tell me something which isn't important, I let it go. Prevents overcrowding."
"Oh so our babies' are now trash talk?"
"Going to the hospital is."
"Its better to know if everything is okay than be sorry."
Randhir waved her off. "Oh shush, we know everything is okay."
Sanyukta gave him a sly look.
"Randhir you should order something for Sanyukta," Danny said interrupting the cold look they both were giving each other. "She must be thirty. Go, go!"
Sanyukta wasn't. She drank way too much before coming and but she decided a coke won't hurt now, will it?
"Yeah sure." Randhir said gesturing sanyukta to follow him. "Come, let's order something for you."
"Yeah cool."
Sanyukta wiped her palms on her dress and after taking a most steady breath, she followed Randhir to the bar. Painted black with metal bar stools and pendant lights hung from the ceiling. They both slid onto the last two available stools.
A bartender probably in her 20's strolled towards them. "Hey handsome." She greeted Randhir. Sanyukta raised her eyebrow.
"Lindsey" Randhir nodded. "I'll take-"
"Cherry coke." Lindsey completed his sentence and was about to head inside the door when Sanyukta snapped, a jolt of anger firing through her. "I'll take a diet coke, thanks for asking!"
Lindsey stopped short and shifted her eyes at Sanyukta's direction, flashing an apolitical a sympathetic smile. "I'm so sorry I dint see you. A diet coke, coming right up!"
"Yeah of course you didn't." Sanyukta muttered ignoring Lindsey's smile. No matter how sweet she is, Sanyukta knew she hated her already. She felt a stab of jealousy and confusion in her heart. Part of her wanted to turn away and leave, part of her wanted to scream at that bartender. Not that it would do any good. Obviously this bartender... Lindsey... or whoever she was... and Randhir knew each other. Sanyukta nearly turned green at the thought, and felt so bitter that it was nearly awful.
Randhir planted his elbow on the bar, his eyes examining Sanyukta's. "Why did you snap?"
Sanyukta looked at him. De he seriously just ask that? Did he seriously ask her why she snapped or interrupted their flirting? Angrily, she stood up from the bar stool so hard she knocked it over. "Um, I'm going back to the table. Bring the coke to me." She told him and without waiting for his reply, she made her way back to the table.
"What happened?" Danny asked noticing the scowl on Sanyukta's face as she elbowed her way back through the crowd.
"Randhir busy flirting with that floozy over there."
Danny laughed throwing his head back in bray of laughter looking over to her shoulder towards the bar section at Randhir. "Oh green doll, that floozy over there is 35 and married."
Sanyukta blinked. Her face flushed radish red as she stared at her feet. "Oh, uh, well then he's flirting with a 35 year old married woman. How... evil!"
Danny gave her a sly look.
"Ok I'm sorry, but my hormones are on a roll right now. I cant help it!"
"It's okay, really." Danny gave her a reassuring smile. "You know you are lucky."
Sanyukta flashed him a bemused smile. "Yeah? Because I'm carrying two babies in my really small tummy which has grown to some extent and will pop out of my private parts in like 4 months?"
Danny chuckled. "No, well that does suck but what I'm talking about is Randhir. He is opening his window for you?"
Sanyukta nearly chocked, heat rising into my cheeks. "Uh what?!"
Danny looked at her confused "What?" Then his eyes widened and his jaw dropped open. "No! No... No god no! I dint mean it sexually. Lord your hormones are really on a roll!"
"Wh- hey anyone would have thought that! Like... look." Sanyukta glanced around the room. A guy passed from there and Sanyukta stopped him. "Hey is your window open?"
The guy looked down towards the zip of his pant then back up. "No it's closed."
Sanyukta smirked turning to give Danny an I-told-you-so look. "See?"
"Fine. What I mean is... well look at it like this. There is this one window. Randhir's window. He opened it and he saw stuffs a child shouldn't have. The emptiness in his heart, the numbness pounding his brain, the salty tears that flowed unchecked from his eyes whenever he saw his parents fight, broke him and took hold of his soul threatened to engulf him entirely. He never had anyone he could talk to. He had been alone since... forever. The window broke and Randhir collected every single piece of the window, joint it, and then closed it for forever, not letting anyone else open it. The window got old and rusted. No matter how many times I tried to clean it or open it, he wouldn't let me. He wanted it to stay rusted so no one can ever in a million years can break it again." Danny paused trying to catch his breath. He looked at Randhir, who now talking to some other person and then his gaze shifted back to Sanyukta. "But then you came. He's letting you take a glimpse of what's on the other side of the window. This place means a lot to Randhir. He never bring anyone down here. Its not something he wants to share with everyone. Do you wonder how come he knows almost everyone here?" Sanyukta nodded, her eyes welled up with sadness. "That is because he's been coming to this place since three years. He loves this place and he never told anyone about it but you. Not only did he tell you about it, but he brought you here.
"And sassy? God, you don't know how protective he is of her! He never tells anyone about her! Sassy is way too important for him. But he told you about her. That's like... the best thing ever! He's letting you in. He's trusting you and..."
Danny trailed off. He opened his mouth but closed it again. When the words did not come, the tears did. Up until then Sanyukta didn't realize the slow tears that ran from her unblinking eyes. Danny looked up and his eyes widened.
"Quick Randhir is coming!" He whispered blinking away his tears.
Sanyukta felt another tear ran from her unblinking eyes and she quickly brushed them away.
In a heartbeat, Randhir was standing in front of them. "Hey what you guys talking about?" He placed the sandwich and the cup of coffee down on the pool table.
"Windows." Sanyukta answered trying to bring a smile to her face.
"What window?"
"A really old, rusted..." she smiled and glanced at Danny who was already looking at her then she turned her attention back to Randhir and looked at his black eyes. A black so endless, it absorbed every last particle of light. "But a really precious window."
Randhir looked around. "I want to see it to you!"
"Maybe you already have." Danny said, raising his eyebrow. "Now Its time for you to let someone else see it."
"Uh o-okay." Randhir heaved out a relenting sigh punching Danny in the arm. "Danny you should go before you lose more pieces of your mind."
"yeah. Its getting late." Danny stood up collecting his wallet and cell he had kept on the table. "B-bye green doll."
Sanyukta smiled, waving her hand.
Randhir said. "Man I'm coming outside to drop you."
Danny nodded and when they were about to head outside, he turned towards Sanyukta. "Just one thing green doll." He said. "Please don't break the window. It will be beyond repair."
Sanyukta smiled with her mouth but not with her eyes. "Never."
