"oh please rey! Aap bhi busy the..investors ke saath meeting kiska tha?" she answered back getting irritated ," aur maine call kiya tha...aap hi so rahe the...but maine kahaan na im sorry" she smiled cutely. He didnt relent, didnt call her inside but instead gave her dirty looks," ab kya aap mujhe yahin khada rehke baat karoge? " he didnt reply to that as well, " fine" she snapped and turned," main jaa rahin hoon" and walking swiftly," mujhe aur bohot saare ..."
He ran behind her and holding her arm stopped her...
"oho taani! Stop. kya hua? Itna attitude kyun...?? " she interrupted him
"haan hain attitude, bhai ne kahaan ki main apna attitude apne boyfriend ke liye hi bachaake rakhoon... koi problem hain?"
"nahin, swayam keliye tho koi problem nahin hoga.." he replied, thinking-girlfriend should never be best friend ki sister- and then sensing that she was completely off, he moved a step closer and asked," ok, bolo kya hua?main joke kar..." she interrupted him again
"main na joke ke mood mein bilkul nahin hoon rey. " shaking her finger at him, "Aap ko pata hain mera project ka last date kal sham ka hain and mujhe abhi tak koi business house nahin mila jahaan main wo kar sakhoon...maine kitne adjustments kiye usko kahin na kahin accept karwaane keliye...par idk ...most places are already full interns ke saath aur koi last minute entry nahin lega...main paagal horahin hoon...mujhe samj nahin aarahaan ki main kya karoon..agar mera yeh nahin hua tho mera poora year..." she started her rant and spoke ,all nervous and edgy, continuously without thinking without stopping to take a breath.
Rey stared at her , somehow she looked cute to him with her eyebrows in a frown, lines of tension on her forehead, her bag dangling as she gestured with her arms left and right, her metal bangles making tinkling noise and her talk was a jumble of words that he hardly understood except vaguely that she was uncomfortable about something. god ! was she cute! And how much he missed her!
Stupidly he smiled, pushed her hair back of her ear and mouthed without thinking "its okay taani, sab kuch teek..."
"oh really? Kaise ? " she cut him short annoyed, " aapko pata hain ki main kitne agencies se , students se, fashion houses se aur pata nahin kahaan kahaan request kar chuki hoon? saare mere contacts jo hain ...VP sir se leke mere maths teacher tak sabse baat karchuki hoon. jitney logon se do din mein baat ki haina utne meri poori life mein nahin ki hain..aur result " she showed a zero. He tried to understand but her earrings - shaking with every shake of her head - were distracting him. sometimes she s such a kid- always worked up about kuch na kuch but jo bhi hain bohot cute hain he smiled "...aur Shivam se bhi aur jodhpur main jo ..." she had continued talking
did she just say shivam? He frowned and thud fell back on earth ,"what ?"she took a breath," tumne abhi abhi kya kahaan?"
"kya? Kitna kuch kah..."
"? tumne shivam se baat ki? " she stopped her talking, gesturing instantly and gave him one bad look, all her nervousness replaced by total annoyance.
"aapko meri poori ram kahaani mein sirf wo sunaayi diya?" her voice had lost all edginess, was almost angry. He didnt catch it immediately
"what kahaani? How come tumne shi...?" he asked.
"REY!" she said loudly," you don't care ki main kya keh rahin hoon. aap tho teek se sun bhi nahin rahe ho" she told him frustrated
"of course main sun rahaan hoon, isiliye tho shiv...am ki naam sunaayi di" and catching the sarcasm in her tone stopped himself looking self-conscious
Taani started walking away, rey moved with her quickly , stopped her holding her shoulder," okay, okay..sorry...mera concentration kahin aur tha.. sorry ..." she moved again, he held her shoulder more tightly and " tum kitni cute lagrahin ..."she gave him another look and he backtracked ," okay sorry, go on... nahin andher chalo, tum baahar kyun ..."
"kyunki aapne andher nahin bhulaya" she snapped. He held both his ears with his fingers and without talking further, literally pushed her towards the house by her shoulders. Taani cooled a little though her worry persisted.
Inside the house- rey walking up and down , taani on the sofa her legs up
"tumhe ek business house hi tho chahiye ? uncle...? "
She sighed and answered ," poocha tha, wo back up tha isiliye yahaan aayi par tauji naaraz hain.. " he raised his eyebrows," wo maine didi ki shaadi mein tauji ko ek hazaar reasons diya tha ki main unki office kyun join nahin karsakthi, so jab kal call kiya tho unhone kahaan ki ...meri bachpane ke liye unke paas time nahin hain" her tone indicating that she agreed with her tauji. It was stupidity what she had done! Rey smiled and kneeled in front of her
"don't worry , tumhaari saare bachpane ke liye mere paas time hi time hain" he grinned , she blushed inspite of herself and he held her hands in his," mere dad se baat karoge? "
"nahin rey..tauji ko accha nahin lagega" she refused. He nodded and as she continued to look upset , he tried cheering her up, "its okay taani zyaada se zyaada tumhe waapas apne college jaana padega bas...and maybe wo better bhi hain . atleast tum mujhe zyaada time ke liye tho miloge.yahaan tho milna ka naamtak...what?" she was looking more upset," kya hua?"
"rey, college mein mera proposal ko koi aur karrahaan hain , yeh mera changed project tha..so i cant do that..."
"KYA? " he stood up," but wo kaise? How can someone els...whats this nonsense?" and she explained what she had done. He heard her out fully , his face showing varying degrees of irritation and finally understood why she was tensed . he didnt reply even when she finished but just stared at her. taani who hadn't met his eyes while telling him now looked up at him standing in front of her he definitely looked like he would like to shake her up. She sighed again
"ab please...aap bhi mujhe blame mat karo...bhai ne sunaa diya pehle se hi..taani yeh, taani wo...taani ur stupid, mujhe pata hain ki main stu..." he had hugged her , bending down, his arms around her neck and as she realised it, he sat on the floor again on his knees pulling her closer into his arms . she tried to say something but he sensed it and held her tighter as if saying don't talk - she felt choked for a second and felt her eyes fill up ...
he released her from the hug after a while and kissed her forehead," Swayam s right! tum stupid ho taani! ...-------
