This should have finished by now but the chapter didn't end in the right place so I'm afraid I think it will need a couple more - sorry my OS seems to be turning into a SS.

A Girl Like That

-Chapter 3

Arnav sat alone in the coffee shop drinking a coffee and working on his lap top.

He deleted what he had written again probably for the twentieth time. He looked at the display in the corner of his screen 8:15 pm. She was late .He had told her 7:30 clearly. He was Arnav Singh Raizada , when he said jump people not only jumped they asked how high . When he gave an order people followed. He sat there alone frustration increasing and patience decreasing.

8:25 He had given up pretending to work; he had just played the umpteenth game of solitaire and lost for the umpteenth time. His brain just refused to focus and all because of her.

8:32 He stood up to leave. He had enough of waiting. He didn't want to believe that he had been left waiting. But there was still time maybe she could get here. He sat down again. What was etiquette? How long did one wait in a situation like this?

8:42 Maybe she had an accident? Maybe her car broke down? Maybe she had a flat? Did she drive? Did she even have a car? Maybe she was hurt? He should go check. But where?

8:55 She would come for her share of money. Had he given her the right address ? Was there another Taj Coffee Hut in Dehli.

9:20 Arnav pulled out his phone to call her -he didn't have her number -damm-he could phone Di she would have it . He didn't want her to know that he had been waiting all this time and that to for a girl.

9:33 He could think of a thousand reasons why she wasn't coming , he might as well go home . At least he knew her name.

10:00 She definitely wasn't coming . Not tonight. But his name was Arnav Singh Raizada -he would make her come -strike that - he would ask her to come -is that where he had gone wrong? Too many questions! Brain shut up stop thinking ! With that Arnav closed his laptop and left.

" Hi Chote,you're late ,I expected you ages ago"

"Digging Di?"

"She is a really close friend ! and you are my ...brother"

"Uha"

"You already know she didn't come"

"mmm"

"Are you going to make me work for it"

Di laughed " You are besotted with her - admit it- how long did you wait ?"

"Since 7:30"

"I have a lunch date with her tomorrow round one-ish , This is Khushi it's gonna be more ish than the one -would you like to take my place ?"

"Let me think about ?"

"It's a onetime offer don't take to long or it's of the table"

"Di , don't use my negotiation tactics on me!"

"OK - Goodnight - I'll be meeting Khushi for lunch"

Di turned and left. She was almost at her bedroom door " Di I'll take it"

Di shouted back laughing " Hospital Canteen"

Unbelievable twice in a row - it was 1:55. Be fair Arnav thought to himself she didn't know you were coming. She stood Di up-not you. Arnav was furious at having been stood up twice. He had to get back to a meeting . He pushed his chair back forcefully accidently into two girls carrying tea on a tray. The domino effect followed. The chair banged into her knee ,the tray went flying and the scalding hot liquid went down Arnav's face and front.

"OMG -are you OK ?" her voice never changed . She always seem to state the obvious. She had a melodious voice His face was burning his chest was on fire and his breath caught. It wasn't because she was standing so close to him. He was in pain , not excruciating ,oh boy but definitely pain so where did his jelly brain come up with the statement "I'm fine - are you ok?"

"I'll be fine ,but you won't come with me , Seema you're alright , I'll sort him out and come back to clinic as soon as. Follow me"

"I'm really really sorry"

"That's Ok it doesn't hurt" what the hell rubbish was coming out of his mouth -it hurt like hell , he felt as though his chest was on fire.

Khushi sat him in a cubical and in seconds had his shirt off him.

He watched her staring at his chest "You know you're equally fast taking a shirt of as you are putting it on. Like what you see ?"

"Not really that scald is gonna be bad I need to cool it."

She returned in 2 minutes with a tray full of things . She place icepacks on his chest.

"That's freezing- you could have warned me"

"Shut up! you said it wasn't hurting"

"I lied"

"You're ... You're... impossible. Don't remove that for twenty minutes "

"You're kidding - I'll be frozen"

"That's the general idea"

A while later Khushi dressed the area " if it blisters let me know -but that should be OK . Were you meeting Di? I was running late."

"What are --- you doing ?" Arnav asked shocked .

Khushi had her hand on his ass. "Checking to see if your glutimas maximus matches your sixpack in hardness "

"What ?- At least you noticed my six pack as well as my arse"

He watched and smiled she had his wallet and was rifling through it .

She fanned some notes in her hand " I believe this is mine and I'll take an extra Rs 1000 for the treatment you have received today ! Make sure your dressing is changed tomorrow ... What is your name ?"

"Arnav"

"Did you wait for me at the coffee shop yesterday ?"

Arnav hesitated for a moment - truth or lies? Pride before a fall. Nothing ventured nothing gained .

"You didn't come"

"Can I have you're left hand - Arnav "

He held his left hand out . Khushi pulled a sharpie from her pocket and wrote his palm SORRY and a number across his palm.

"I was on call yesterday working and I didn't have your number- otherwise I would have warned you and I didn't know you're name. My shift finishes at 5:00 ish and you had my tea earlier "

Arnav s hand rose involuntarily to his chest . " I remember"

"Coffee and Ice cream ? My bleep! I've got a run - See you later ?"

"See you later !"

Arnav thought to himself as he picked up his jacket and smiled he never waited on anyone -the world waited on him; he had better get used to the ish.
