Part- 31
As she saw them rushing to her, she saw him walking behind them, though his eyes were covered under the sunglasses she knew he had his eyes only for her, and if she was right then they were angry right that moment.
**
All the people with camera present there tried to get a shot of the man walking not so fast but with powerful steps looking fresh and handsome for a photo shoot in his Army color Zip-Pocket Polo & light color Stretch Calvary Jeans with a pair of white sports shoes. Silver bands expensive watch adorning his left hand while his eyes were covered with a pair of gold tone aviators.
The centre of gossip of this town since few days and maybe this country too, wondering how and why this man in a few month of his stay here in this country managed to own this old Palace, which would have been gone to the Government in few more days as a historic symbol and state's possession.
Anyways those questions would be answered after some time but right now what made ASR come out of the comfort of his palace in this sunny afternoon just before the conference amidst the media? And why those guards rushing towards the main entrance, made the media more curious...
And then they saw the girl, the security trying to barricade and guard pass through them.
They saw with wide eyes as ASR slipped in the barricade and held the girl protectively near his body securing her from any kind of harassment and with other arm he also kept the securities out of her body contact possessively.
Media tried to take pictures of the girl, who held all of ASR's attention...
She was not like the models ASR had mingled with in past, rather she looked short and reached till his chin. She was not skinny and even not all fleshy, just simple and attractive. Her skin glowed under the sun but it had a golden ting, better than those pale white skins. Her lips were full and a shade darker than her skin and mid-length hair tied in a pony tail. She was wearing modest clothes, though here they might think different later, but right now when they saw she was wearing lace-print shirt collar cap sleeves top and a pair of black slim fit jeans. Her eyes too were covered with glasses but whatever they saw they knew she was good looking.
The girl wasn't from his family and they knew it but someone very special to him, they had no doubt about that. Would she be also present in the press meet then they could at least get a few good snaps of her, and if luck favors then they might be able to ask a few questions about her and their relationship too. Another news and quite sensational in that matter. But they also knew ASR, his protective nature wasn't new for them. If he decided to keep the girl away from them then no way in hell they could get any information about her. Sigh.

"Why did you go alone?" Arnav said through his teeth.
"You were sleeping and I didn't want to disturb you." Khushi answered sheepishly.
He just glared at her while pushing the guard a little afar who almost had fallen over her while trying to keep the media crowd away. The entrance of the Mahal was still a few feet away and they were trying to make their way through the media and other curious crowd who had came there to have a glimpse of ASR, mostly girls.
"Why didn't you take a car?" Arnav tried to ask calmly feeling anything but calm.
Khushi gulped, she knew her explanation would reward another vicious glare for him and it did, "Well I went early in the morning so I thought I could walk the distance to compensate my missed morning run... as she saw his eyes turning red she hurriedly added, how am I suppose to know that my uncles and aunty would talk me into an elaborate breakfast and I would be late in the process and stuck in this crowd..." she trailed of guiltily. She also wanted this morning walk to clear her head a little after almost a sleepless night, but she couldn't say that to him.
Arnav suppressed the urge of yelling some sense into her and said as much coolly as he could manage at that moment, "Next time I want to know about wherever you decide to go and if needed I will accompany you too and don't even think of arguing because I am in no mood of taking any of your excuses," he said the last part glaring at her disbelief writ face.
**
They walked inside the Mahal and Khushi stopped on her way making Arnav stop as well as his arms was still around her. He looked at her frowning and saw her going out of his grip. His heart thudded as he saw her hard face but he said nothing wrong he thought.
Khushi said firmly, "Arnav I know you are concerned for me and worried for my actions but I have been living like this all along and it is hard for me to pass the leash of my life in someone's hand just like that. I know I am being stubborn and maybe non-cooperative too but as I said before you have to bear with me. She shook her head as she whispered, I am not the girl you should have fallen in love with..." she trailed off the distress in her voice evident.
Until she said the last sentence he was patiently hearing her but the end did it, his anger bubbled and fueled as his fury came out unleashed. He grabbed her arms in his tight hold making her gasp in shock and pain. He stared down at her eyes letting her know how infuriated he was at the moment before dragging her to a side before he hissed, "How dare you Khushi? How dare you say that?"
Khushi arms pained in his hold but she continued to look into his eyes.
"You are the first girl who meant so much to me and you are saying that you think I made a mistake by choosing you? How dare you insult my feelings like this?"
Khushi shivered.
"Damn it! I can't even vent my frustration on you for your stupidity" he said as he left her abruptly feeling her going cold under his touch.
"Khushi why you don't understand the simple thing, I love you and I want you to feel loved and more importantly not alone..." he ran his hands in his hair agitatedly.
"Why are you so unreasonably difficult always?" He said vexed and punching in the air.
Khushi felt lost for words, she wanted to say so much but she felt incapable to make a coherent sentence. She felt she was fighting something she couldn't win. She felt like giving up. She felt like going back to her shell and shut her feelings again. Why? She couldn't explain. But she felt numb inside, not for his anger but of her inability to express.
She didn't know when she turned on her heels and started to walk to her room.
Arnav started at her disappearing figure with disbelief.
Did she just walk away when he was still talking?
He shut his eyes tightly to compose himself, because right now he felt run and grab her before closing her in a room and shout at her till she promised not to do that again.
He was still standing like that eyes closed and hands on his hips, when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to find Akash.
"All ready Bhai", Akash informed.
Arnav nodded and followed him but not before turning back once the way she had gone.

As the press meet went on with all the Raizada family present there even Anjali and Shyam, Khushi was the only person missing, who was the reason behind their presence there in the first place.
She had told long back that she wouldn't participate in this press meet as she was not comfortable answering questions which she thought her personal matter, however she had promised to sit through it with Arnav but after their heated argument he didn't expect her to be present with him and she didn't come.
The questions had been asked were almost regarding Sheesh Mahal and little about Arnav's upcoming ventures and shows.
Suddenly a journalist asked, the question whirling in many of their heads, "ASR is there a new girl in your life?"
Arnav eyed the man overall as if contemplating that if he was worthy enough to even ask the question before replying with another question of his own, "And may I know what made you ask this question?"
Other Raizadas only exchanged looks.
Akash smirked, where Anjali hid her smug smile behind Shyams shoulder who was trying to keep a straight face after witnessing his brother in law the Aranv Singh Raizda sneak out of his ladylove's room this morning and right now acting the astute man he was known to the world. Whereas Mami looked at Mama who looked impassive as Devyani.
Another journalist added, "We saw this morning how you were trying to protect a lady in the crowd outside and we know she isn't form your family."
Someone else said, "So we are really curious to know is she a new girl in ASR's life like others or she is someone special." The man smiled smugly.
In spite of the fact that he wanted nothing but to break than man's front teeth to wipe off that smile and answer their question to shut them for good by telling them who the lady was and what she meant to him, he managed to refrain himself from blurting out and said, "Well she is not like any other girl you knew in my life before, because she happens to be a very good friend of mine form childhood and yes she is special that way."
"Oh childhood friend... may we know her name." asked the first journalist
And before Arnav could say a word Devyani Raizda jumped in the conversation, "Khushi Gupta is her name and she is the daughter of our late and very close employee, and after taking a moment to check her wrist watch she added, well ladies and gentlemen it is way past lunch time so I would like to request you all to proceed towards the buffet we have arranged for you and enjoy the food and please do excuse us as we need to prepare for the party in the evening and you all are welcome there." with this Devyani Raizada ended anymore discussion about Khushi and also successfully diverted the journalists.
But people were not as foolish as she thought because, with the journalists Arnav and others too looked little taken aback about her abrupt interruption and ending of the meet.
Arnav didn't fail to notice that how she didn't say Khushi's full name but owing it to her reserved nature he let it go for that moment before starting for the next job in hand, which was searching his Khushi who seemed to have vanished from Mahal leaving him to worry some more.
**
She sat under the same huge tree, where she first talked with Arnav.
She was thinking about her life so far since she could remember...
She was small about four years old when she had first realized that she had been staying with her grandparents while her one and half a year younger brother lived with her parents. She was too small to feel anything about it but yes she had yearned for her parents still.
With time she had come to know the reason of her staying apart from her parents.
Her father Khushal had a job which needed a lot of roaming hence when her mother Suhashi was pregnant with her; he left her Ma with her Nani so that she didn't need to travel with him in that condition.
When Khushi was born her grandmother was reluctant to let go of her. After a long time a baby had come in their life and they fell in love with their granddaughter.
But her father was equally eager to spend time with his baby girl; hence he took her mother and his Pari with him soon.
After a few months her Ma came to know that she was pregnant again.
The same ritual followed this time too and her brother Abhilash was born.
This time her Nani didn't let her go telling her Ma that she won't be able to take care of two small children together while roaming around the country.
She was right in her reasoning and her mother had to agree, hence Nani gave a solution. She asked her Ma to leave Khushi with her while she takes care of small Abhilash.
Her Ma didn't want to agree and so her father but her Nani said, "You can come and meet her anytime and as soon Abhi grows a little more you can take back Khushi too."
Hence her parents reluctantly agreed.
Years passed but her Nani didn't let her go while her parents came for her. She always found some way or the other to convince her parents to let Khushi stay some more time with them. She always told them she couldn't even think living without Khushi.
Yes she loved her, but Khushi always had yearned for her parents, when she had seen other kids coming to school with their mother or father or playing in the park with them.
Her Nana and Nani were too old for those activities and her uncle used be caught up with his works and she used to only think how it would have been if she could have stayed with her parents.
She couldn't share her childish dream of played mischievous pranks like other kids with anyone, because she never felt easy to do all that with her old grandparents.
Her father had realized his Pari's craving for them long back but he respected his in-laws and also was grateful to them for taking care of Khushi while they needed them too, hence he couldn't snatch her away from them and make them sad in the process.
Therefore whenever Khushi came to pass time with them in her holidays he used to make those special for her and she used wait eagerly for those holidays.
They used have great times and every time she used to bid a teary goodbye to her parents at the end of the vacations.
She couldn't help but feel jealous of her brother that he got all what she wanted but she wasn't rebellious and also loved her grandparents equally to throw a tantrum to not to go back.
Finally one day her father decided that it was enough. He decided to take a stable job. It didn't matter if it paid less, but he now wanted his whole family together and live happily with his two beautiful children.
Khushal wanted it especially for his Pari, whom they had made the sacrificial lamb for long for their advantage.
He came to Lucknow and took a job as a financial head in Raizada Textile and then also bought a small land with all his savings to build a sweet home for his family.
That year Khushi was so happy to know that this was the last vacation she would be going back leaving her parents because from next academic year she would be living with them. She didn't even feel bad for leaving her grandparents.
That summer vacation she was ecstatic. She had come to Lucknow the second time after her birth as her grandparents had moved to Kanpur for her uncle's job a year after when she was born.
She had met Surbhi aunty, she had met Arnav, she had met his Nanaji, and she had met Anjlai, and had liked them a lot. She was in cloud nine knowing that she would be able to see them almost every day when she would come to live here with her parents.
But that dream was short lived, Avinassh Malik and Devyani Raizada had seen to it.
This time she went back to Kanpur with her mother and brother never to come back. Her mother couldn't even manage to sale the plot her father had bought to build his dream house at a reasonable price in hurry.
First her grandparents were supportive but soon their behavior also changed making them realize that they were nothing but burden to them and shockingly towards Khushi too.
And that was the last straw, the submissive Khushi changed for good.
She knew her mother was too amicable and her brother was too small to understand the gravity of their situation. Moreover after living under the protection and care of their parents all along he was carefree to even realize their condition.
Hence Khushi took it upon her. She didn't cry rather gave her shoulder to her mother to cry upon. Eight years old Khushi grew in few days much older than her age. Her personality changed completely. She became rebellious and stubborn but for god reasons.
She had always been made to feel the belittlement of being a girl by her grandparents hence she changed herself to a tomboy who didn't need protection of anyone's.
She fought for her mother for her brother. She let go of her wishes. She didn't care what she wore or get but whenever she could she didn't forget to buy a gift for her brother.
She had protected him like her father would have.
But in the process of healing others no one noticed that her wound was left untamed.
One fine day she suddenly realized that she had grown and her brother too. He didn't need her protection like before. Her mother too was better and that was when it occurred to her that she had time for herself but she didn't know what to do with it.
She had lost her interest in girly chats or in an all girls outing. Before whenever La asked her to get out with her she had other worries in her head to indulge herself than these things and now if she wanted also she couldn't. She felt out of place.
She missed her father and missed a lot. She had realized long back that she didn't have any memories remained of him other than her last vacation and his blood strained face.
Hence she indulged herself what her father taught her once casually, guitar... later she started spending a lot more time with music finding no other company. NK and La were there but she didn't want to burden them with her loneliness.
Her brother had his friend circle and her mother, well she was there, but by the time Khushi herself had become distant with everyone for her tough nature.
Her liking in music wasn't welcomed by her grandparents so she kept it to herself. Even her mother came to know when they had moved to Mumbai for her brother's job, and she had started breathing finally, freely.
Her brother and mother tried to get her to talk to them, Her brother had tried to spend time with her and wanted to take care of her desperately, but she always felt the elder sister she was and that never let her open up to him or take his help for anything... she knew they loved her to the core but she was by then accustomed to taking care of herself. But she couldn't deny the gifts her brother bought for her.
She smiled fondly.
Arnav too wanted her to let him take care of her, protect her. He wanted her to open up to him, be carefree around him. He wanted to take her worries willingly and for the first time she wanted to do just that, but it was not easy for her.
She couldn't blame Arnav for losing his patience. He had every right to do so after the effort he had put in their relationship. She was really being difficult... wasn't she?
She sighed... that's when a voice from behind broke her reverie, the voice which was her solace since a few months...
