Parvarish-Taking Forward

Hello Friends. Its been a while that Parvarish has ended. The show had been really unique for its concept-Parenting. There are still loads of issues that could have been show cased in the show.

Part 1

Scene 1

It's the Ahluwalias household on a fine bright morning. Sweety brings hot parathas from the kitchen and places it on the dining table. Lucky longingly looks at the parathas and sadly at the vegetable soup in front of him which he HAS to drink since it is specially prepared by his wife. Rocky, who is actively typing on his phone, casually picks up one paratha and keeps it his plate. He smiles widely with his eyes fixed on nothing but the screen of his phone. Sweety sits opposite to Rocky trying to get his attention but in vain. She doesn't like her family to do any other work while having food. Sweety couldn't control anymore and hence snatches the phone from Rocky and signals him to eat his paratha first.

Rocky: Ma!! Please give my phone back...it's important...

Sweety: Nothing is more important than food. How many times have I told you not to...

Rocky: Maaa!! I am not a kid anymore...I am in college...that too final year...please stop instructing me...(tries to take the phone)

Lucky: (calmly but sternly) Rocky! Why don't...

Rocky: Dad! Please...not now...

Sweety: Eat the paratha Rocky and stop talking back...What do you think in your mind?

Lucky: Sweetyji! Plea...

Sweety: Luckyji! You drink your soup and leave to office. It's getting late..I'll deal with Rocky. (takes the phone and goes to the kitchen)

Rocky looks at Lucky for help.

Lucky: Why are you looking at me? I myself need help to speak in front of your mother...(laughs) Rocky yar! Why do you fight with your mother? You know about her na. (drinks his soup in one gulp) Follow her rules. (relief looking at his empty soup bowl) Eat the paratha and get your phone. Simple! Everyone will be happy. (smiles)

Rocky: (eating paratha) Fine! I'll eat and get the phone...Happy!

Lucky ruffles Rocky's hair and goes upstairs to take his wallet and leave to his office. His real estate business is doing very well and he has an important deal to sign today. He is excited.

Rocky straightens his hair, completes his breakfast and goes to the kitchen to get his phone.

Rocky: Ma! My phone..

Sweety: Completed your..

Rocky: Haan Haan! Completed! Now my phone...

Sweety smiles and gives him the phone. Rocky quickly starts checking for new messages.

Sweety: Why do you have to make it so difficult Rocky? (packing lunch box)

Rocky doesn't respond. Sweety looks at him impatiently.

Rocky: (realising his mother said something) What?

Sweety: (disappointed) Nothing! I have packed your favourite lunch. Have packed another box for your friends also.

Rocky: (keeping his phone in his pocket) Oh!

Rocky looks at the lunch prepared by his mother and smiles at her. Whatever he tells his mother, however he behaves with her, his mother always takes care of him and his happiness. He loves his mother a lot.

Rocky: Ma! You are the best! Thank you so much...(hugs her, looks at his phone) Ma! Why do you have to make it so difficult for me...(laughs, takes the boxes) Bye Ma..(leaves)

Sweety: Take care beta! Don't ride very fast...Be careful...(Rocky has already left)

Sweety sighs and starts cleaning the kitchen. Lucky comes to the kitchen.

Lucky: Look at this boy! He has left the doors wide open...can't he close while leaving...? He is becoming very irresponsible nowadays.

Sweety: (keeping the plates inside) Acha?! When he is around, you always support him and I become the villain. But when he is not there you complain about him?

Lucky smiles and starts helping Sweety in keeping the plates in place. He asks Sweety for the file he gave her. Sweety takes the file from her husband's study table and gives it to him. The door bell rings. Sweety goes to open but before she can open, her daughter Ginny comes running down to open the door.

Ginny: Maa! Please..I'll open..It must be my friends.

Sweety: (confused) Why shouldn't I open the door if it's your friends? (surprised) And are you going out somewhere? You are dressed up.

Ginny without answering any of the questions opens the door with excitement. Two of Ginny's friends have come. Ginny hugs both of them and invites them inside.

Ginny: Come in gals! Why are you late? I have been waiting for a long time. We had planned to leave at 9 and it's already..

Sweety: Plan? What plan?

Ginny is nervous but she avoids answering her mother. Sweety stares at the three girls in conversation. She has no clue what is going on. She tries to interrupt and finally..

Sweety: Ermm! (trying to get Ginny's attention) Ginny beta! (smiles at her friends) What's going on?

Ginny: (realising she has to answer) Ma! You know Tina and Payal. They have also joined the same college as mine. College is starting in a week and we are going out for shopping. (looks at her friends happily)

Lucky comes reading his file and joins the group.

Sweety: But! (trying to be casual) But Ginny...You didn't ask...(calms herself) You didn't tell me about your plan?

Ginny: (thinks quickly) Ma..Actually we planned it today morning only and I was about to tell you. (little embarrassed by the questioning happening)

Sweety is not satisfied. She doesn't like her daughter going alone outside without her permission. She looks at her husband for some reaction, but he is too engrossed in his file to notice any of the happenings. Sweety decides to speak on this topic later to her daughter.

Sweety: Will you have lunch at home or?

Ginny: (happy and relieved) Yes Ma! I'll be back for lunch. (hugs her) Love you!

Lucky: (realising he is late to office) I am leaving Sweetyji! (looking at the girls) Enjoy your day!

Ginny: Daddyji! Can you drop us by the market road? We will walk from there. (gives him a sweet smile) Please!!

Lucky knows he will be late for the meeting nevertheless he agrees. He cannot say NO to his daughter. The girls run outside happily. Lucky is about to step out when Sweety pulls him back.

Sweety: Listen Luckyji! I have already given your daughter Rs. 1000 last week for shopping. You don't give more.

Lucky: (confused) Why will I do that?

Sweety: You think I don't know about you and your daughter?? If she asks you anything with a small smile on her face, you will immediately agree to do it. It didn't happen now? Uh? (Lucky laughs)

Lucky: I'll take care Sweetyji. You don't worry. Relax!

Lucky leaves. Sweety closes the door and sits exhausted. She feels the silence of the house which was a chaos few seconds back.

Scene 2

Lucky is on his way back home for lunch. He is anxious. The meeting had gone well but the clients had asked time to sign the deal. His phone rings and Lucky sides his car to take it. While speaking he sees a group of boys racing past his car in bikes. Lucky is shocked to see Rocky to be one of them. He gets out of the car to get a better look. He is sure it is Rocky. Lucky is furious.

Ginny is showing the things she has purchased to Sweety with excitement.

Ginny: How is this dress Ma? Pretty na? I loved it the moment I saw it.

Sweety: (happy that her daughter is happy) Yes. It is very pretty.

Ginny: Wait Ma! I will wear it and then you say how it is. (runs upstairs to her room)

Sweety wanted to ask Ginny why she did not inform her about her shopping plan but decides to bring the topic later. She feels it is not the right time. Her daughter is very happy and excited about going to college. She doesn't want to spoil it. Lucky comes and sits in the living room. He is in deep thoughts.

Sweety: Luckyji! How did the meeting go?

Lucky: Hmm. Good. Can I have some water Sweetyji? Please!

Sweety brings water. She understands quickly that something is wrong.

Sweety: What happened Luckyji?

Ginny: Maa!!!!

Ginny comes running down wearing her new dress. She is looking very pretty. Ginny is surprised to see her father.

Ginny: Daddyji!! You are also here? Good! How is my new dress? How do I look?

Lucky remembers how excited his daughter was in the morning.

Lucky: (smiles) Very beautiful!

Ginny: (sits down satisfied) You know how long it took me to select this dress. My friends were fed up. (laughs)

Sweety: Where else did you go?

Ginny: Just this shop Ma. There was no time and I had already told you I will be back for lunch. So I didn't go for lunch with my friends.

Sweety: (surprised) Why? You could have called and informed me.

Ginny: (embarrassed, slowly) I already had not informed you about the shopping plan. I was feeling bad to call and seek permission for lunch. (looks eagerly) I am sorry Ma.

Sweety is happy that Ginny has understood. She hugs her. Sweety is relived that she need not have to talk with Ginny regarding this anymore. Lucky meanwhile is still thinking about Rocky. Sweety notices this.

Sweety: Ginny beta! Take your things and keep it in your room and come down for lunch.

Ginny leaves with her things. She still has something important to discuss with her parents, especially her mother. She is waiting for the right time.

Sweety: What happened Luckyji?

Lucky: What time Rocky will return from college?

Sweety: Rocky?! Don't know. Why? (confused)

Lucky: (calmly) Rocky has started again.

Sweety: What?

Lucky: Speed driving!

Rocky loves bikes. He had managed to convince his parents to get him a new bike when he was in his 2nd year. He along with his friends love to race on the roads. Lucky had seen this once and had warned Rocky not to drive fast. Rocky has managed to stay away from his parent's eyes while riding from then. He believes he is careful enough.

Sweety: Are you sure? How did you recognise him? He must have been wearing helmet.

Lucky: 100% sure as he wasn't wearing helmet.

Sweety: (furious) That's it! Today is the last day he gets his bike. Let me see how he drives again!!!

Lucky: If not his bike, he will drive others.

Sweety: (confused) Others?

Lucky: He wasn't riding his bike today. (thinking) How to make this guy understand? I am not against him riding a bike..but there is a limit for everything.

Sweety: (realising) Wait a minute. He bunked college? How can he be outside this time? (angry) Let him come. I'll teach him a lesson.

Lucky: (calming down) Sweetyji! No teaching lesson mode. Please! I'll talk to him.

Sweety: (thinks) Let us both talk to him.

Scene 3

Ginny is talking on the phone.

Ginny: Yeah Yeah Tina! I understand what you are telling. I know it will be so much fun. I will definitely speak with my mother and get permission. (pauses) Yes I know there is only one week. I am waiting for the right time.

Sweety opens the door and comes in. Ginny quickly ends the call.

Sweety: How long I have been calling you? Why do you close your room door? Come down for lunch. (senses) What's wrong Ginny?

Ginny is not sure whether to tell her mother now. She decides to tell her mother with her father around. She hopes her father will understand.

Ginny: Nothing serious Ma. But yes, there is something I want to tell you. Uhmm..Is Daddyji still at home? I will tell both of you.

Sweety: (confused) Your father is having his lunch. But if it is very serious, don't tell him now. He is already tensed regarding Rocky.

Ginny: Why? What did Bhaiya do?

Sweety tells Ginny about Rocky and his speeding. Ginny realises it will not be right to tell her problem now.

Ginny: Maa! You go down. I'll come in a minute.

Sweety leaves. Ginny tries making a call but the number is switched off. She is confused.

Great start yaar! I always like the way you write, its always simple and makes me visualize the scenes clearly! 😛

haha yeah. Rocky and sweety are not going to change. Rocky realises later but till then he makes sure sweety is tired enough running after him 🤣
Lucky's character is also like that, he is forever torn between his family members, whatever he does in favor of someone, the other person sure wont gonna like that. 😆
Waiting to see what and how lucky talks with rocky about his biking, such fellows don't understand the risk such activities involve untill they themselves end up being a part of some accident. 😲

Ginny.. Well yes, its really interesting. You have shown from right start that she realises that not informing something to her parents is not good, she felt bad because she didn't tell sweety about her plans to go out shopping, thats nice.
Sweety is also little relaxed about her now after knowing that. Now what she will do which will make sweety worried again... 😆
Plus, ginny's outings can't be considered her faults or like that, you have to socialise once you're in college and contacts are important for study related stuff also. So sweety and lucky can't directly finger any fault in her activites, that makes it even more interesting. 😊

dont cut down too much scenes...you don't HAVE TO make the parts smaller, just do necessary ones. 😊

Both Rocky and Sweety are similar. They are stubborn and will do things which they think is right. They don't think about others initially. But they are understanding when made to understand.

Part 2

Scene 4

Its 8.00 PM. Ginny is having her dinner silently. Lucky and Sweety are waiting for Rocky to join the table. Ginny is wondering how to tell her parents. When she went with her friends for shopping in the morning, she realised her friends have taken a different course from hers and they won't be in the same class. Ginny is skeptical about being alone in her class while her friends are together in a different class. She wants to change her course. Her friends had informed her that there are still vacant seats in their course and Ginny can join them if she wants. Ginny looks at her parents. Both are not in the best of their moods. She is not sure if they will accept for the change.

Sweety is trying to call Rocky's phone.

Sweety: How can Rocky keep his phone switched off?

Lucky: Can't he call and inform if he will be late? You have any idea where he has gone?

Sweety: No! Ginny?

Ginny: No Ma! Bhaiya didn't tell me anything. But...

Lucky: But?

Ginny: I tried calling him in the afternoon also. It was switched off even then.

Ginny wanted to warn her brother that her father had seen him speeding on someone else's bike.

Fear suddenly hits Sweety.

Sweety: What if something had happened to him? That's why he is not...

Lucky: Sweetyji! No. (pauses) It is not that late also. It is not even 9.00 PM. Let's wait and see. I am sure he would have been with his friends and lost track of time.

Sweety: (scared) May be he was riding fast and...

Lucky: Sweetyji!

Sweety: (frantically) May be police caught him...Call the police station..

Lucky: Sweetyji! Nothing would have happened. You be calm now. Let's wait for some time. You have Rocky's friends contact numbers?

Lucky receives a text message on his phone. He is relieved reading it but next moment is angry.

Lucky: It's Rocky's message. He says he will come home very late or tomorrow morning. He is at his friend's house doing some group project.

Sweety: (relieved) Thank God! But why didn't he pick his phone?

Lucky: No charge.

Sweety: I don't believe he is at his friend's house. Probably they are roaming outside in bike. Call his friend. Speak with Rocky and ask him to come at once.

Lucky: Leave it Sweetyji! Let him come. We will talk with him tomorrow morning.

Sweety: NO! Give me your phone. You don't know how to handle kids. (dials) Who? Ashwin? Where is Rocky? I am his mother. (waits) Rocky! I want you to come home in 30 minutes. (pauses) No excuses. You can do your group project tomorrow. I want you here now and that's final. (keeps phone)

Rocky is embarrassed. He and his friends had just started working on the final presentation of their project. It was his plan to do a group project presentation.

Rocky: Guys! I am sorry. I can't stay. There is something important at home. I have to leave now. You guys work according to the plan. I'll do my part of the work at home and we can discuss and work together in college tomorrow. Let's meet early. (looks at the time) Ashwin, Give me your phone.

Rocky quickly sends a text message. He gets the reply quickly from his sister, "Red Alert. Daddyji saw you speeding". Rocky realises what the main problem is.

Scene 5

Sweety, Lucky and Ginny are waiting in the living room for Rocky. Sweety keeps looking at the clock. She has made decisions and she is not going to change her mind. Ginny is glancing at a book thinking about her problem. Ginny's friends have taken English Literature while Ginny has taken Fashion Technology. She is thinking about a plan how to convince her parents to switch to English Literature. Lucky is shaking his legs in anxiety. He is angry with his son but he is concerned for him even more. He has to control his anger and make his son understand in a matured way. He is unable to make Sweety realise that her method of restricting will not work on Rocky any more. He wants to try it one last time.

Lucky: Sweetyji! Please listen to me. I will speak with Rocky. I will make him understand. You leave it to me. Please!

Sweety: No Luckyji! Rocky is enjoying his life too much. He needs to become serious. Discipline is totally lost.

Lucky: But Sweetyji! Restricting is not the solution. Rocky is not a little boy. He will rebel. He is at a stage where he can start his own life away from us.

Sweety: (angry) You please don't teach me what to do Luckyji! Please! He needs to understand we are still his parents and he has to follow what we say and decide for him.

Lucky: Fine! But let me first handle it. Please! If it doesn't work, you can speak to him.

Sweety looks at her husband. She knows Lucky is the right person to handle Rocky. He has done that many times before too. Sweety agrees to let Lucky speak first.

Rocky parks his bike in front of his house. He is not worried. He knows what is in store for him inside. He remembers the warning he had got when he was caught speeding few months back. He is thinking how to handle the matter inside. At the same time, he is angry with his parents for asking him to come immediately. He had to leave his project work because of them. He is not liking the restrictions.
