Part 23:
The next day Kriya was serving dadi bua and Preeti their morning tea when the old lady spoke.
"Kriya aap iss ghar ki nayi bahu hai aur rasam(ritual) ke hisaab se aap ko kuch meetha banana hai. Aap ko aake ek hafta ho gaya hai lekin aapne abhi tak rasoi mein kadam bhi nahi rakha. Isilye hum chahte hai ki aap aaj meetha banaye shaam ko."
"Ji dadi bua."
"Did I hear meetha? Whose making and what?" Rey asked entering living room.
"Kriya is going to make a dessert and what it would be that only Kriya knows." Preeti said.
"I haven't thought yet what I'll make. Let's see what idea I get." Saying this Kriya left for the kitchen.
After having breakfast everyone was waiting for Kriya's dessert.
"Mommy hurry up, I'm getting late for school." Kaira said.
"Coming princess." Kriya shouted from inside. After a moment Kriya entered the dinning area with a cake in her hand.
"Chocolate cake!!! Yayy..." Kaira exclaimed.
"Kriya cake at this hour of time?" Ranvijay questioned.
"I know dad, cake after breakfast is quite odd. But as the ritual states a newly wed bride has to make a dessert irrespective of what it maybe. So I thought why not make something different as kheer and halwas are quite common. Plus Kaira loves chocolate cake.
"I'm impressed Kriya. I like the way you think beta." Ranvijay praised her.
"Thanks dad."
"Cake looks yummy Kriya, serve it fast." Preeti said. Dadi bua wanted to point out some mistake but she had no scope for that as Kriya had baked the cale really well.
"Mommy it is delicious."
"Thanks sweety. Now finish it off quick I'll get your school bag." Saying this Kriya left for Kaira's room.
As she entered the room, she felt someone's prescene as well. On turning around she clashed into Rey. They were so close to each other. Their faces were just inches apart.
"Rey you here? Any work?" She asked wriggling to get out of his grip. But he pulled her even more close. The more she struggled the more he pulled her towards him.
"I wanted to inform you something."
"Wh...what?"
Leaning in towards he whispered making her shiver. "Not only Kaira loves chocolate cake but also her daddy loves chocolate cake." His breath lingered on cheek making her shudder in response.
"And the cake was deliciously yummy." He said kissing her cheek. His lips lingered on her cheek more than necessary as she clutched his shoulder for support.
He pulled back and stared her as she did the same. Both of them were going through a whirlpool of emotions. "I should be going else Kaira will get late." Kriya said.
"Uh, sure." Rey replied and stepped back watching her leave the room. Once she left he mentally slapped himself. "Argh...Rey you've become an idiot."
Rey returned back after dropping Kaira to school. Usually he leaves for office after dropping Kaira to school but today he had to return back as he forgot an important file. All the family members were assembled in the living room except badi bua.
"Err...mom, dad, Rey...emm...I actually wanted to ask something."
"Go on Kriya, you don't need to be nervous." Ranvijay said.
"Kya puchna chahti hai aap?" The old lady asked while making herself comfortable on the couch.
"Uh...Can I join the office? I get bored sitting at home. So I thought if I can join the office...only if you permit. Also, Rey need a personal assisstant and I have no problem assissting you."
"Of course you can join dearm." Ranvijay said.
"Ranvijay aap kaise ha keh sakte hai iss baat ke liye? Ghar ki bahu office mein kaam kare yeh achi baat nahi hoti. Kriya office nhi jayegi."
"Bua ji please. Aur aaj kal toh har ladki kaam karti hai aur ghar bhi sambhal sakti hai. Please maan jaiye."
"Humne keh diya na nahi. Aur Payal bhi ek doctor thi. Uhone humare kehne par apni naukari chod di thi. Jab vo humari baat maan sakti hai toh aap kyu nahi?"
This was the limit! Another comparison with Payal and she would burst out like a volcano. "Vo Payal thi aur mein Kriya hu. Hum dono mein bahut farq hai." She replied in an irritated tone trying to sound normal.
Just then, Rey got call from Mr.Bhalla saying that they've finally recruited a lady as Rey's PA.
"Kriya I'm sorry but the post of my PA has been filled just a moment ago." Rey replied. Kriya's face fell in an instant. "Kriya get ready quick as I'm getting late for office." Rey said.
"But why do I need to get ready?
"Because you are joining Singhaniya Constructions from today. Just because there is no vaccant post in the office doesn't means that you can't join us. Now hurry up."
"Thanks Rey." Kriya replied with a smile.
"Keep smiling always. You look even more beautiful." He said staring her. Once he realized that he blurted it out infront of everyone, he said "I'll br waiting for you outside," and left hurriedly leaving behind a flushed Kriya.
