Chapter 19 Part 1

"Manvi he was helping out a client for our business. The client was involved in a murder case. Virat tired saving her from getting raped and ended up getting complete brain damage from a bullet. Woh abhi coma mein hai."

I hid under my covers as those dreadful words echoed through my ears again and again.

"Manvi is everything alright." I heard papa and wiped my tears before I opened the door.

"Manvi beta kya hua," he asked probably noticing my blood red eyes.

"Woh kuch nahi papa, I had a bad dream," I lied swiftly. Mummy came by and saw me just when I was explaining to papa and looked at me with curious eyes.

"mummy mein thik hun I promise," I said forcing a smile. She looked at me and nodded her head. "Chalo so jau beta," she said tapping my head as both of them left.

I couldn't sleep all night and skipped dinner too. I woke up in the morning and headed to the bathroom but was dizzy from no rest the night before. The last thing I remembered was falling backwards and hitting the toilet seat. I felt around my head to see a pool of blood. "PAPA,' it was the last thing I could get out of my mouth."

3 weeks later. I was still in the hospital. I saw two elderly people taking care of me. They called me beta but I didn't know who they were. I saw a guy who looked about in his mid-twenties. Medium build, and extremely nice. He had been taking care of me since I was in the hospital.

"hey how are you doing now?"

I looked up to see him smiling at me, his eyes glimmering.

"hey, I am doing better, just wish I could get up and move," I responded frustrated that I was on bed rest. He chuckled and pulled my IV out.

"Today is your lucky day, do you want to go for a walk?"

I smiled and took his hand as he helped me up. We walked around the hospital with his arms securely around my waist to make sure I wouldn't fall. I felt intoxicated with his scent, the way his arms felt around me made me weak, it was all so familiar. It was like we knew each other before, there was something so familiar about him.

"Manvi do you remember my name," I heard him finally ask.

I looked at him bewildered at his question. "Dr. Vadhera right?" I said softly. He sighed and I felt him grip my hand. "Manvi do you remember anything about this ring," he asked me forcing me look up at him. I looked at the ring, it looked so familiar but I couldn't remember why. My eyes filled up with all the pressure of thinking about everything.

"Oye, I just want to help you remember your past life. No pressure at all, you can think about it after you get some rest," he said wiping my tears. I smiled and nodded my head in approval as he placed me back on the bed to sleep.

I looked at uncle and shook my head. "Uncle the girl on that bed is not only your daughter, she is my life. I can't live without her. I made her fall in love with me once, I can do it again. As for remembering you, she will start to ease up to everything gradually. We can't force her to do anything; it's too risky with the amount of mental damage she received. I felt ashamed thinking about Manvi's state. It was my entire fault that she was like this. I wanted to hide that case from her so she wouldn't worry and I ended up surviving the coma and giving her complete memory loss.

It had been 3 weeks since the incident. Bhabhi had come to see me in the hospital the day I was discharged. I immediately asked to call Manvi so I could tell her I was fine. To my horror uncle picked up the phone and told me she fainted in the bathroom and suffered severe brain trauma. I felt like my heart was shattered in a million pieces. I immediately told uncle and aunty what was going on between me and Manvi and explained to my parents about my feelings as well. I knew Manvi would never forgive me for telling them but I needed to be with her, it was the only thing that would keep me calm. I got on the next flight to the US and shifted my work there too so I could continue working in the hospital. I looked down at the engagement ring that I had gave her and my eyes filled thinking of the last time I was here. I closed my eyes and just prayed that god would give me my Manvi back, the one that me fall in love with her purity, the values she held, everything about her had me mesmerized and I would do anything to get her back.
