ArHi SS: A Thing Called Marriage
Chapter 21
She clutched the wall when she felt his head on her left shoulder making her wonder what exactly is he trying to do.
She gasped as his hand covered hers, making her shudder at the touch.
She'd not had the courage to open her eyes and see what he was doing. She held her breath, feeling his fingers caressing her palm.
Her rigid body relaxed a bit as Arnav started moving back, not knowing what was about to happen next.
Thinking that he had already stepped back, Khushi opened her eyes and turned her head to look at Arnav as Arnav did the same.
Not realizing that their faces were just an inch away from each other.
They jolted back to the reality as the next moment, their lips brushed against each other for a fleeting moment.
Their hearts fluttered, threatening to jump out just in that fleeting moment.
Like something had just set on fire, their bodies maybe.
Khushi gasped loudly stepping back as Arnav's eyes widened before he turned away from her.
Khushi covered her open mouth with her palms, her wide eyes focussed on Arnav's back. Hey bhagwan, what had she done?
Brushing away the mushy feeling that has overtaken her senses making her turn red, she frowned.
By the way, she was not at all fault exactly. It was him, she concluded twisting her mouth and glared at Arnav's back with full intensity as if intending to bore holes in it.
Involuntarily, her hand went to her lips and touched them delicately, feeling tingly.
Just then, Arnav turned back towards her while clearing his throat loudly making her drop her hand back and focus on him. His face was blank and his demeanour was calm as if what has just happened between them didn't affect him even a bit.
Her heart panged reaching to this conclusion but her eyes focused on him as he opened his mouth to say something.
"Did you take any designs from it?"
Her gaze lowered to what he was looking at, to see him holding his sketch book. She looked at her hands wondering when he had taken it from her when her mind finally processed everything.
He had stepped towards her just to take back his sketch book. Her mouth curved down, feeling grim "Yes, I took one design from it."
"Give it back, Khushi. This is my sketch book. Not even a single design has been taken from it for any fashion show." Arnav brought his hand forward.
That was the last blow for Khushi.
"I am not giving it back. In fact I had already sent it to for production." She replied stubbornly, her fighter streak back with a vengeance.
"What!!!! You should have asked me first, Khushi. I sketch those designs when I am tensed or torn up over something. Those were never meant for production." Arnav raised his voice a bit, his hands fisted at the sides.
"But I liked that design and I am including it in the show." Khushi refused to back down.
Feeling its rather futile arguing with her, Arnav picked his phone to make a call when Khushi spoke once again "Don't call the production head, Arnavji. I am serious. I want that design as the showstopper dress."
"You can have any other design." Arnav countered back.
"I want that only."
"But you can't have it." Arnav at last shouted at her, scaring the wits out of her. Khushi stepped back in fear, her eyes moistening.
Arnav closed his eyes in regret, ashamed of hurting Khushi again on such a trivial issue. His anger dissipated the moment he saw tears in her eyes.
"Fine, I will send it back to you soon." Khushi said in a trembling voice, before running out of his cabin. Arnav didn't miss how tears escaped from Khushi's eyes trailing down on her rosy cheeks.
His fist slammed down on the table in regret "DAMMIT !!!"

She hated rain. She didn't know what was special about rains that peoples loved but she absolutely loathed it.
Forgetting how few years ago she was one of those peoples.
She pushed her slightly wet hairs back, opening the umbrella quickly as students around her jumped in joy, getting drenched in rain already.
She stepped out of college gate and smiled in relief as her eyes spotted her car already there.
She looked up startled as someone stepped in her way, making her look up. Her heart leaped as their eyes met.
It was Shyam.
His eyes held a strange glint of determination, scaring her. She clutched the umbrella tightly, scared of what was to happen next.

Pacing to and fro in his cabin, Arnav ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. What, exactly WHAT was the need to do all that with Khushi?
He over reacted, Arnav knew and closed his eyes in regret. He snapped his eyes open the very next moment as his mind flashed what had happened between them. His lips touching hers.
To say, he was affected would be understatement. Arnav wasn't able to think anything at all after the damned kiss.
As if things weren't already complicated between them.
The moment he was about to apologize, Khushi ran out not giving him any opportunity to say anything. Ten minutes later, she had sent that design back to him through office peon refusing to face him.
When is he going to learn from his mistakes? Exactly when?
It was evening already and they both had stepped out of AR with Khushi keeping quiet and not looking at Arnav at all.
Assuming that she will be going home with him, Arnav had opened the door of the car for her only to be blatantly ignored by Khushi.
"Khushi? Khushi, where are you going?" Arnav bellowed looking bewildered seeing how Khushi took an opposite route from him, getting drenched in rain in this process.
Closing the door of the car, he snatched the open umbrella from his driver and ran after her.
Catching up with her, his hand closed around her wrist and he pulled her under the umbrella.
"Where are you going?"
"I will go wherever I want to. You shouldn't be concerned about it." Khushi snapped at him finally breaking her silence, her eyes flashing at him dangerously.
"To hell with I shouldn't be concerned about you. You are my wife DAMMIT!!!" Arnav roared, claiming his right on her.
What happened next was what he didn't imagined even in his dreams.
Freeing her hand from his grip, Khushi pushed him away and stepped out of the umbrella "REALLY? Because I think you consider me as an immature girl who would agree to everything you have said, acting perfectly like your slave. Right?"
"Is it all about that stupid design?" Arnav asked with disbelief written all over his face.
"No it isn't. It's about you, Arnavji. Why you have to decide on everything? Why you need to take care of everything? For god sake, let someone else take reins of control for once and relax. You are a human too and someone needs to look out for you too. There are many things in life other than just duties and responsibilities" Khushi explained with an irritatingly calm expression on her face.
Arnav blinked his eyes slowly as if not being able to believe what Khushi has said. No one said that to him except Anjali and he never felt the need for it as well.
The need of having someone who may look after what he wished and wants. The burden of all the responsibilities and promises has made him forget everything.
The desire to be loved for the person he is.
The desire to have someone who prefers him over everything else in the world.
Something stirred in his heart seeing the way Khushi spoke for him.
Was it affection, happiness at having that someone or a bit love after seeing the way she thinks about him?
He was so occupied with his thoughts that he didn't know when his grip on the umbrella loosened, making it fly away in the strong blows of wind and he was drenched in rain as well.
"Are you even listening?"
He jolted back to the reality as Khushi spoke once again. His eyes slowly focussed on Khushi's face once again, not failing to notice how her clothes were drenched and how she was trembling against the strong, cold assault of the rain.
"Okay, I get that. I will keep that in mind. You can work as you wish. I won't interfere now." He immediately rushed to damage control, not letting go of the opportunity this time.
"And I am sorry for yelling at you like that, Khushi." He looked down as he apologized, looking more like a five year old kid who was ashamed after forgetting something very important.
"It's okay, Arnavji. Now can we go back to the car? I am freezing." Khushi chirped happily, genuine smile lighting up her face. Not waiting for his answer, she immediately ran back to the car leaving Arnav behind.
As Arnav kept standing there dumb-founded, she stuck her head out of the open window and called out for him, asking him to come inside the car quickly.
'Was she really angry?' he wondered as he got inside the car.

The moment Arnav and Khushi arrived at Shantivan, Khushi ran to their room eager to change into dry and warm clothes.
Deciding to change his clothes in the guest room, Arnav took his clothes and left.
As Khushi stepped out wiping her wet hairs with a towel, she walked towards the kitchen to instruct one of the servants to make two cups of tea.
She was walking back to their room when she saw the door of guest room open and proceeded towards it instead.
Standing on the threshold, Khushi looked inside to see who was in there. She froze as she saw half naked Arnav in there, wearing his casual track pants only.
Her eyes noted shamelessly how his muscles rippled as he stretched his hand to pick up his shirt from the bed.
His chest is so broad and muscular, she concluded as her eyes refused to move away from him. She almost protested as he wore his shirt, barring her eyes from noticing anything further.
Her admiring eyes halted however as Arnav lifted his shirt a bit, wearing it properly.
Then she noticed.
A scar, which ran from the left side of his waist to the middle, in a vertical line. It looked old still managed to scare her.
She would have asked about it from Arnav if she had not heard the loud screech of tires outside, followed by a loud bang of the front door being shut.
Feeling curious, Khushi turned and walked to the front door of the house closely followed by Arnav, who had not missed the sound either.
Arnav and Khushi's eyes widened as they saw Anjali leaning against the door, looking extremely pale like a ghost and drenched in rain from head to toe clutching some papers in her hand.
They were too taken aback by her state when Anjali looked up at them and flashed the papers in front of them, her throat choked as she said "Shyam gave me the divorce papers."
So how many of you are shocked with the new twist? š
