CHAPTER: 14

Ahmedabad

"Continuing with the story I found the perfect plan to take a revenge on Niranjan. By taking over the control of his destiny and making him pay for his sins by putting him behind the bars. We had the original autopsy report so we just had to authenticate it. Mrs. Agnihotri did the rest by filling for domestic violence. Once I lost my control and took your virginity that night, I knew I could never betray you. So I said those hurtful things to you and made you leave you. I love you Astha. If only you could ever find a way to forgive me and trust me and love me again" said Shlok while finally taking a pause and waiting for Astha's reaction. He was surprised when Astha gently wrapped her arms around him and engulfing him in her warmth and the same time relieved. She gently murmured some soothing words in his ears and stood on her toes also pulling him near her and kissed his eyelids.

Astha said "Oh baby. I am so sorry for what you had to go through all alone. If I had any idea what you had going on...I would have been more understanding. If you just could have trust me enough to confide in me all this I would have understood you and try to help in any way I could. I guess we have a lot to learn about trust and respect. I am willing to leave all this behind and start afresh but only on one condition. This time we take it slow. So do you agree?" to which Shlok finally smiled and said "Oh sweet cheeks, to get you back in my life I could go as slow as a snail. I know we have a lot to learn about love and life and about each other. Now to seal the deal" .Shlok pulled Astha near him and smiled as love shinning in his eyes for her as he gently kissed her on lips ,nibbling slightly on the lower lip. He increased the pressure on her lips as he felt her response by slight moans forming in her throat. He started teasing her by striking his tongue on his tongue and when she gasped he took advantage of it and gained entry into her mouth stroking her tongue with his. A fierce hunger burned down her belly making toes curl firing a passion in her which she had suppressed for a long time.

Common sense hit Astha bringing her back to present from fantasy land as she pushed Shlok back catching her breath and saying "Stop Shlok. Did you forget about your promise of taking things slow? Now let us both take a deep breath and head back to the city before it's too late as I have to wake up early in the morning for my job" to which Shlok said smirking "I remember my promise but I was testing whether you remember or not. I am still not clear about that but anyways we could spend the night here and I will take you back to city in the morning. And before you object do not worry I will control myself and promise not to pull anything funny. Unless you can't control yourself around me and get tempted to try hanky panky with me". "Ha ha in your dreams Agnihotri" said Astha giggling to which Shlok replied "Don't get too cocky now darling. Now let's get to the task of fattening you up".

Varad was in for another shock after seeing the two dozen red roses and a card waiting for him after returning to his office from printing press when he saw Sojal walking towards his office wearing a sky blue colour chiffon saree which he vaguely remembered gifting her on their second marriage anniversary which she never wore till this date and was also carrying a picnic basket. She entered his office breezily and said "Surprise! I have brought lunch" in an awfully cheerful voice confusing Varad. He replied brusquely saying "Sojal, What are you doing here? You should have called before just dropping by unannounced. I ate a sandwich already in office canteen. I have meeting with my HODs which start in ten minutes. " to which Sojal flinched slightly and then quickly hid it by saying brightly "Oh dear, you are right. I should have called before just dropping by. But then it wouldn't have been much of a surprise. It will be a shame to see that really delicious take away lunch from your favourite restaurant Countryside China go to waste though. But not to worry, Rani will love this. Bye"

As Sojal started walking towards the door hoping Varad or rather praying him to stop her when he called out and said "I guess I have room for some food in my stomach. I can spare few mintues but not more than that." A smiling Sojal turned and started setting out two dishes and chopsticks from her picnic hamper enjoying view from Varad's office which was situated at the top floor of a tall sky scraper. "I don't think I have ever been to your office in past seven years. It's a beautiful view from here and your office is also very well decorated." said Sojal trying to make small talks to which Varad replied in a serious voice "If you don't remember let me remind you. I invited you many times to visit my office till five years of our marriage but then gave up after witnessing your un interest and every time listening to your lame excuses like headache and too much house hold chores. And to your other statement I have not always been working in this office. When we first got married I used to work in a very small cubicle and then gradually I got promoted over last seven years from crime beat journalist to co-editor to recently Editor-in-chief and a partner in the newspaper. I shifted to this office few days ago. Now if you don't mind I would like to eat in peace."

Varad cursed himself for his lack of control and his little outburst when he saw some glister and anguish in Sojal's eyes. He didn't want to bring up the past and spoil their lunch date but seeing her in that saree gifted by him and that food just made him angry. He was mad at her for ignoring him for past seven years and kicking him to curb every time he got near her, chipping some part of his masculinity every one of those times. But now seeing her efforts made him mad at her because it was too late, too late to win him over and too late for their relationship. They were eating in silence when suddenly the door to his office suddenly opened and Ramona burst in giggling and saying "Varad, Goa is going to be so much fu...Hello who is this?" suddenly halting in the middle seeing Sojal. Both the women eyed each other warily Ramona eyeing Sojal and Sojal returning the favour seeing as she was a tall girl about same age as her in a bob cut hear style wearing a sleek black coat with white colour blouse with top two buttons undone showing plenty of her cleavage and a black coloured pencil skirt showing her shapely long legs going on and on. The room temperature got up by ten degrees brimming with tension when Varad got hold of his senses and quickly made the introductions "Ramona this is my wife Sojal and Sojal this is Ramona. She is our gossip columnist." to which Ramona said with a voice dripping with honey "Darling you know I do not like that word gossip columnist as the word paparazzi. I prefer Entertainment or Page 3 journalist. Hello dear. I must confess over the last few years whenever Varad said he was married I thought he was lying to put me off and his wife that is you are a myth. But it is good to finally meet you in person." Sojal said in an equally amusing tone as she said "Hi. It is nice to meet you too. But I must say I am at a disadvantage here as I didn't know you even existed. You know Varad never mentions you. And what were you saying about Goa?" to which Ramona laughed as if she had cracked some big joke saying "Oh dear. I see Varad doesn't share that much with you as with me. I know everything about you guys and about your cutie pie daughter Kavya. But I understand it that Varad do not want to share me with his wife. Look like he did not share something else with you. He is getting a prestigious award by the Media Association for Editor of the Year' in Goa this weekend where I am accompanying him. Anyways Varad we are waiting for you in the conference room. You have to address some issues and more importantly about the budget reports." Uttering these words Ramona left Sojal stewing while a volcano of emotions was boiling inside her ready to explode leaving Varad to face the music alone. He escaped Sojal's wrath by greeting her lightly "You know your way out. See you in the evening. Bye" leaving her alone in his office with murderous expressions on her face.

you know i think varad and sojal stole the show/ chapter for me today...i thought varad was going to give it a proper go again, but he got so angry with her and of course ramona was rubbing salt into a wound...i think varad was a bit harsh especially when he told her she knows the way out after her discussion with ramona...in fairness to sojal, she would have suffered a lot with anjali...and varad is not understanding that...hope he feels guilty and trys to make it up to her
