A Blast From the Past
We can escape from everyone. We ca escape from everything, even reality…but for how long can we escape from our selves. Alone in solitude, we face our biggest fear…ourselves.
Angad sat on the floor of his dorm room, in the dark. Knowing that the life ahead is one that isn't easy. The guilt of knowing Kripa was still there, waiting for his one phone call killed him bit by bit. Giving someone pain never makes us feel good, but when we give a loved one pain unintentionally it hurts even more. Angad knew, sooner or later the day would come when Angad had to face Kripa, how long could he escape it?
As morning came Angad met his room mates. They weren't anything special, normal guys just like him. But he was happy, knowing he was in a place where no one knew him. He was standing by the coffee stand when someone bumped into him. He couldn't see who it was because of all the boxes she was carrying.
A- Do you need some help
- Yes please
A- Okay…
Angad took some of her boxes, and started walking
A- Where's your room
- Third floor
A (sarcastic) - Great!
They walked and talked about starting college and leaving home. When they reached the room, Angad out his boxes down and so did the girl. Angad turned to shake hands with her, and was shocked
A- Vedika?
Vedika flipped her hair and looked at Angad. She had never looked this beautiful ever before. She also had never looked this angry before.
V- Oh hellz no1!
A- You're here?
V- This is so not happening!
Vedika turned around to leave the room without saying anything, when Troy came in with three more boxes and put them on the floor.
T- Anything else madam
V- No um…I have two more in my car, I'll go get them.
T- Who's this?
A- Hi
V- This is….opps I forgot your name
Vedika said in a very rude tone.Then again, Angad kind of deserved it.
A- Angad
T- WOW!
V-Yeah…
T- So, you're here…too…um..I'll get the boxes
Troy just wanted to leave the room, knowing the history between Angad and Vedika, he guessed this wasn't a good time to be around Vedika.
A- Boyfriend?
V- None of your business
A- Do you love him too?
V- GET AWAY FROM ME! LEAVE!
A- Well I really cant do that since my Bua already paid the tuition
V- No leave my room, and from now on you stay 30 feet away from me! Always!
A- Vedika, just let me explain some things to you
V- No, I do the explaining…1. You stay as far away from me as you can. 2. We aren't friends. 3. If by any chance we do come in front of each other, we will act like strangers! Clear?
A- Okay…clear
V- Bye
A- Bye
Angad left the room, and Vedika slammed the door. Angad went back into his room, and sat on his lumpy old bed. He thought, maybe he wasn't escaping reality, maybe…he was finally confronting it.
Kripa was fixing her room. She was folding her clothes when Shazad came in.
S- Dhoom Machale, Machale, Dhoom Machale! Uff!
K- Hey
S- Kripa stop!
K- Wait
S- No, Kripa stop!
Shazad went to Kripa, picked her up and sat her down on the bed.
S- Kripa, this is the fourth time I'm seeing you clean your room this week!
K- It gets dirty fast
S- NO!!! Kripa, I know you miss Angad, but that doesn't mean your going to waste your time doing this!
K- But…
S- No, Angad isn't everything in your life, there's more to it!
K- I know…I'm just really used to him now. I've been with him for more than a year.
S- Yeah, I know…but where's the other Kripa, the one who lived life to the fullest with no execptions.
K- She went away with Angad…to Boston.
S- NO, she's in here! And were getting her out! We're going to see Dhoom
K- I have it in DVD
S- Dhoom 2 you idiot!
K- Oh, okay.
S- Okay lets go
K- OKAY!
S- That's the spirit!
Meem was starting her first day in college. She left her first class, and saw Hussein walking.
M- Hey Hussein
H- Hey buddy! How's your first day at college?
M- Okay I guess. It's hard, nothing like High School.
H- Yeah, but don't worry it gets harder
M- Thanks…jerk
H- Sorry, lets go…I'll show you the campus
M- Okay!
Angad was sitting in the library writing some notes when Troy came and sat next to him
T- Hi
A- Hey…
T- So, I finally get to meet you
A- What do you mean?
T- Meaning, I know all about you. Everything between you and Vedika.
A- Oh, okay? Are you two…
T- Dating? NO, I wish we were though. But she'd never be happy, because she loves someone else…do you know who?
A-….
T- You know Angad…I never met someone who could love as selflessly as Vedika. Your lucky. Bye
Troy left, and Angad sat in the dark alone. He knows Vedika loves him…he know Kripa loves him, but who does Angad love. Angad knew the answer to that question, he was just to afraid to accept it.
Shazad and Kripa came out of the movies.
S- That movie was so cool!
K- I loved Hrithik! And Ash….I miss Angad
S- KRIPA!!!!
K- Sorry, but I do. He didn't call today
S- Oh my god. Kripa Angad went to Boston to study, for college not to call you every two minutes
K- I know…
S- Come, lets go eat at my place
K- Can I clean your room
S- Yes my love, you can clean my room, my kitchen, my bathroom, even my garden.
K-Really?
S- Shut up!
Kripa and Shazad were walking to his house, when he saw Hussein drop Meem home.
S Kripa you go, I'll be back
K- Okay
Shazad went up to Hussein, right after Meem went inside.
S- You two seem to be good friends
H- And you are?
S- Do don't remember…you were in my house for a party a few days ago
H- Oh, Shazad…hi.
S- Hey.
H- Well buddy, I have to go
Shazad stopped Hussein.
S- Well, since you called me buddy, I'll give you some advice…don't fall in love with her.
H- What the hell is your problem
S- Nothing…but your about to have a big problem real soon. Bye buddy.
Shazad left, and Hussein looked at his in confusion.
Angad went to his room after his long day. He checked his voice mail and saw 5 voice mails from Kripa.
A- Crap, I forgot to call her.
He was just about to dial her number when he saw Vedika pass by. He stared at the door and then and his phone.
There are times in our lives when we have to make choices. When we don't think about what's right and what's wrong, we just do what our foolish heart tells us to do. The reason for this is that, although the heart is foolish, its knows a lot better then our logical brains that make illogical choices.
Angad put his phone down and left the room. To confront reality…
