"And the award for the best choreographer goes to Miss.Kriya Ghai." The host announced in the award function going on currently in Mumbai.
An elated Kriya got up from her seat with a smile of victory playing on her lips. Her best friend Antra hugged her on her achievement feeling proud of her. Kriya walked towards the stage with confidence evident on her face and elegance in her walk. Giving a thank you speech and collecting her award she made her way back towards the audience.
Kriya Ghai, one of the renowned choreographers had yet again bagged the award for the best choreographer beating all the competition around her. She was the best in her field. When she dances then no one can stop themselves from watching and awing at her dance. She danced for herself and danced with such a grace, captivating everyone around her.
She was tired attending back to back interviews. Once she reached her house, she carefully placed her award in the shelf solely covered with numerous awards.
On the other hand in London, the finale of the cooking competition Master Chef was being held. The finale came to an end with the winner being announced.
"We thank Chef Reyansh Singhaniya for accepting our request and agreeing to judge the grand finale in a very short span of time. Thank you so much chef Singhaniya." The host expressed the gratitude on behalf of the entire team.
Reyansh Singhaniya, popularly known as Chef Singhaniya is one of the eminent Chefs in the recent times. Cooking isn't his profession. It's his passion. No one can stop relishing on the dishes made by him. He's a very tough competition for the rest in his field. He started his career at a very young age and aftee struggling a lot, his hard work paid him. He is now well recognized in the world of cooking. He owns the famous restaurant 'Diners Inn' which has its branches located almost all over the world.
After having candid talks with a few leading magazine companies, he returned back to his hotel room. His flight was scheduled after six hours. He decided to have a nap for few hours before checking out.
A week later, Kriya lay on her bed in her house situated in Delhi completely exhausted after performing at a concert that lasted for nearly three hours at a stretch.
"It feels so good to be back in your home town." Kriya said over the phone.
"I wish I could be there with you, and then we could revive our childhood again." Antra replied.
"So true yaar. After long gap I've visited Delhi. It feels the same like it did when we were kids."
"Okay then you have fun in Delhi; I've got to complete a presentation."
"Okay miss workaholic. Bye." Saying this they hung up.
Lack of sleep, Kriya flipped the channels on the television. A repeat telecast of an interview caught her sight. It was Chef Singhaniya's interview taken at the grand finale of MasterChef competition held at London last week.
"Oh yeah how can I forget that Mr.Reyansh also resides here. I should surely go and meet him after all he was the one who helped me in forming the ladder of my success." Kriya contemplated and smiled.
Around six years back in Delhi, a guy and a girl entered a coffee shop at the same time. Unfortunately that day it was completely packed. Only a single table was empty. Both of them approached it together. Having no other option they shared it.
"One black coffee please." They ordered at once as the waiter approached them.
"I usually drink black coffee when I'm upset." Coincidentally they blurted out again together. In an instant they burst into fits of laughter.
"Hey I'm Reyansh. You can call me Rey." The guy said forwarding his hand.
"Hi I'm Kriya." The girl replied accepting his offer for a hand shake.
"Can I know the reason why this beautiful lass sitting in front of me is upset?" He asked in a flirtatious tone.
Smiling at him she replied "It's a long story actually. I'm a dancer and want to become a famous choreographer. But I hail from a middle class family and currently I'm confused whether to pursue my dream or take up a job to help my family."
"Well if you consider my advice then I suggest you to pursue your dreams. Family problems will be never ending. I'm not saying that you shouldn't let you parents alone deal with the problem. But you never know you can solely solve everything by achieving your dreams."
"You've got a point."
"I've not only got a point but also the ticket to your dreams."
"What do you mean?"
"One of my cousins works in the film industry. His team is on a hunt for a fresh dancer. You never know you can get lucky."
"Really that's amazing."
"Yeah and here take down his number."
"Thank you so much."
"My pleasure."
"By the way why are you upset?"
"Well my story is similar to yours."
"Are you a dancer too?"
"No. I aspire to become a chef. Cooking is my passion."
"Interesting!" She said sipping her coffee.
"I know. But my parents are against this. They feel their reputation would be at stake if their son opts for becoming a chef."
"It happens. But sometimes you need to go against your parents to achieve your dreams. When they see you standing on your own feet, they'll be proud of you."
"Thanks for this. I needed someone to motivate me."
Neither they met again after this meeting nor they had phone numbers of the other to stay in contact.
The next evening Kriya got ready to go to the restaurant 'Diners Inn' owned by Reyansh Singhaniya. As she entered the restaurant the staff and the customers present there couldn't believe that they were fortunate enough to see Kriya Ghai live in front of their eyes.
One of the waiters went to inform Rey regarding her entry while manager helped the bodyguards in protecting her from the crowd. She was allotted a separate table away from the crowd and was informed that Rey would be attending her in few minutes.
"Welcome Miss.Ghai." Rey said gaining her attention.
"Still the same chocolate eyes." She thought.
"Are you listening Miss.Ghai?" He asked snapping his fingers in front of her.
"Ah! Yes."
"We're really privileged to have you here Miss.Ghai."
"Will you please stop addressing me as Miss.Ghai. You can call me Kriya." She said in an annoyed tone.
"Sure. What will you like to have Kriya?"
"Why is he behaving as if we're meeting for the first time? Doesn't he remember me?" She thought.
"Um, I'd like to have anything prepared by you."
"Sure. Give me a few minutes ma'am." Saying this he left.
"Yum, it tastes heaven." She said having cranberry raviolis prepared by Reyansh.
"Thank you Ma'am."
"You are still the same."
This sentence confused him. "What does she mean by still the same?" He wondered.
"I'm sorry I didn't get you."
"Nothing. Well, I've got to leave now. See you some other time. Bye." Saying this she got up to leave.
"Bye." He said in a puzzled tone.
Days passed by and Kriya started coming to his restaurant to have a view of him. She didn't know why but she felt attracted towards him. Well, it wasn't a mere attraction. Little did she know that it was more than that? Rey was quite surprised to see her at his restaurant daily. But he enjoyed her company. All that she ordered was a black coffee. At time she felt bad when he failed to remember their earlier meet. She tried to give him hints but looks like he had a memory loss, that he couldn't remember anything.
"Oh god, why do I feel so gloomy on knowing that he doesn't remember me? But then I can't ignore the fact I feel different with him. I feel so happy and cheerful him. His eyes make drown in them. I can stare at his for hours long. His touch creates havoc within me. And when he compliments me why do I blush? And also I feel kinda jealous on seeing him with other girls? What's happening to me?" Kriya spoke out loud as if trying to ask someone lying on her bed.
"Because you're in love my friend." She heard Antra saying it from behind.
"Antraa...when did you come?" She asked hugging her.
"I came at the time when you were busy contemplating about your feelings."
"Uh, there's nothing like that."
"Don't try to fool me babes. I know you better than you know yourself."
"Um, okay I like him." As Kriya said this Antra raised her brow.
"Yeah fine, I love him." She said in a jiffy hiding her blush.
"Finally my friend is in love..."
"But what if he doesn't reciprocate the same?" She asked with a sad pout.
"I'm sure he does."
On the other hand Rey was in his room striking his punching bag. Whenever he feels upset or confused, he starts doing it.
"Gosh what's happening to me? Why do I feel so different on being with her? Her smile, her walk, her beauty, her innocence, her eyes...Ah! Her eyes...they make me drown in them." He thought dreamily.
"But I feel there's something she tries to remind me. I don't know why I can't remember that? I feel so connected with her. I feel sad on seeing her depressing face. She's become a part of life...an integral part. It isn't that I love her...wait a minute...love...Do I love her? Freaking yes I do. It's only love that makes people behave differently. Damn...wohoo I love her..."
"What if she rejects me? Shut up dude. Be positive. I'm sure everything will be fine."
"But I still want to know what is she trying to hint me about?" He stopped his punching and started messing up his room, trying to find some clue that would make remind me of something that he has forgotten. After a laborious search, he found a bracelet.
"This bracelet?" He tried to remember whose it was. And finally he succeeded. It was Kriya's bracelet that she had unknowingly left in the cafe. "I'm such a rotten fool. How can I forget that meeting of ours? Sorry love to keep you disappointing every time. But tomorrow I'm going to set things right."
Kriya and Antra were lying on the bed reviving their childhood incidents and that's when Rey called up Kriya.
"It's Rey. Why is he calling me at this hour of night?" She said in her hyper active mode.
"Shut up and pick up the call you fool." Antra said irately.
Taking a deep breath Kriya picked up the phone. "Hello."
"Hey Kriya, I'm sorry if I've disturbed you."
"No it's fine."
"Uh actually I forgot to invite for the party that's being held tomorrow at my place."
"Party? For what?"
"It's been many days I haven't organized a gathering. So just thought organizing one. And you have to be there."
"Kriya found his reason quite odd but she agreed. "Umm, Can my friend Antra also attend your party, only if you have no problem?"
"Of course you can get her as well. I would love to meet her."
"Thanks, we'll definitely be there."
The party was on its full swing. People were enjoying themselves; some of them casually enjoying their drinks while the others rocking on the dance floor. Everyone present at the party was a high profile person. Rey was impatiently waiting for Kriya. One of the waiters informed him that Kriya along with Antra has arrived at the party. Rey checked himself one last time in the nearby mirror and proceeded to welcome her.
Both of them hugged each other. "Rey meet my best friend Antra."
"Nice to meet you beautiful lady." He said kissing the back of her hand.
"Engaged?" He asked Antra on seeing a diamond ring on her hand.
"Yes, how'd you know?"
"Experience you see."
"Ahaan! Nice."
"This way ladies." Rey led them inside. Kriya didn't like the way Antra and Rey were talking to each other. She pulled back Antra and whispered in her years "Why were you flirting with him?"
"I wasn't. For lord's sake don't tell me that you were jealous of me."
"Huh? I...I'm not jealous...why'd I be jealous?"
"You're impossible."
"Yeah...Whatever."
After a while Rey approached Kriya for a dance. Kriya gladly accepted his offer. Though Rey was a non dancer but he the way he swayed along with her seemed as if he was a trained dancer.
"Not bad. I'm impressed." Kriya said.
"Impressed with my dance or me?" He asked huskily.
"Uh, well both."
"So you like me" He purred in her ears.
"Wh..When did I say that?" She asked trying to be unaffected by the proximity they were sharing."
"So you don't like me?" He asked pulling her closer.
"I...I didn't mean that?"
"The what do you mean?" He asked planting peppery kisses on her shoulder as the lights got dim.
"I..I mean that...I...like..."
"Why are you so confused today? The Kriya Ghai, has no words to say today. Why so?"
"There's noth...Nothing like that." She replied lowering her lashes.
Rey kissed her cheek surprising her. Making sure that she doesn't notices, he indicated someone. As he did that the lights switched off and a spot light fell on Kriya and Rey. Kriya was confused on seeing Rey on his knees.
"Uh, I don't know how to say this. I've never done this before. okay so let's just finish it off soon. I...uh I actually have started feeling for you. I don't know how to say this..but..i..I love you." He said nervously biting his lower lip.
Kriya couldn't believe that he actually said those words. "I love you too.." She said chirpily when she finally registered everything. As soon as those words escaped her mouth, he slid that bracelet in her hand. Seeing that bracelet she was surprised.
"You remember?'
"Yeah.." She pulled him into a bone crashing hug, while the rest cheered and hooted for them.
"When we go on our first date, I want a grand and romantic proposal." She wooed in his ears.
"Sure ma'am.".
"It all started with the black coffee." She whispered and kissed him on cheek.
