The OneShot is based on Anu's [aashi12] request and the concept fits My storyline perfectly. 👏
The story is continued from the previous installment- Long Drive Ne Bana Di Jodi
Or You can treat this OS as a Stand Alone... 😳
Enjoy!
The stars illuminating the sky were overshadowed by the heavy and dark clouds. It was drizzling lightly when Arnav stopped His bike in front of a palatial farmhouse.
Khushi was comfortably holding on to Arnav and was in deep slumber.
"Hey..." Arnav called out, trying to wake Khushi up without making too much movement.
Khushi stirred and squinted Her eyes to see what was happening around Her. When She realised that She was still holding on to Arnav, She gasped and got down from the bike taking care of the long train of Her lehenga.
"Thank You." Khushi smiled at Arnav and looked at Her surroundings. "Where are We?"
Arnav walked up to the main door, opened the lock and walked inside. Khushi followed Him into the house timidly, bunching up the end of Her shawl in one hand.
"This is My family farmhouse in Lonavala. 2 hours away from Mumbai." Arnav said, keeping Khushi's backpack in the living room.
"2 Hours away from Mumbai." Khushi repeated slowly.
Arnav sensed panic on Khushi's face. "You can stay here with Me till the time You don't decide what to do next. You said that You have no other place to stay. So, This place is a good backup plan."
Khushi kept staring at Arnav while He spoke, realizing that He had thought about Her situation more than She had.
"Don't worry. You can be sure that You will be safe here." Arnav said while Khushi settled on the large couch in the middle of the living room. "Trust Me."
Khushi bit her lip as She analysed the situation which was making Her stay under the same roof with a stranger. "OK. I will sleep here on the couch... Ummm.. Your name?"
"Arnav Singh Raizada." Arnav said and held out His hand.
"I am Khushi Kumari Gupta." Khushi shook the hand uncertainly but the interaction made Her heart skip a beat and made Her feel welcome.
Arnav smiled in amusement at Khushi's reply and the consecutive action.
"Alright. Get Yourself comfortable here. Here, Entertain Yourself." Arnav said while tossing the TV remote control to Khushi. "I will fix something to eat."
Khushi twirled the remote in Her hands thinking about the bizarre situation that fate had landed Her in. Tears welled up in Her eyes as the overall effect of Her running away from Home clouded Her thoughts.
Pushing aside all the disturbing thoughts, Khushi switched on the TV and flipped through the channels.
Arnav entered the living room carrying two plates of dry food. "Are You alright?"
"Yeah. I am fine." Khushi said, keeping Her facial features bright. "And very hungry."
"Do You always convince people that You are alright when You are actually very emotional?" Arnav said while placing the plates on the coffee table in front of Khushi and handed Her a tissue.
Khushi took the tissue and sniffed loudly into it.
"OK.. That was way too much emotion." Arnav chuckled which was followed by a loud thunder of the clouds. "Looks like it might rain heavily tonight."
Arnav proceeded to close the window shut but was surprised by the loud squeal behind His back.
"Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge!" Khushi was clapping Her hands while Her eyes were glued to the TV screen. "Awww... It's the climax scene of the movie."
Arnav turned around to see Khushi completely absorbed in the scene where Kajol was running along the train to reach Shahrukh Khan's compartment.
"Awww... This is so romantic." Khushi swooned while Arnav observed Her antics with a smile.
"Do You believe in this romantic crap? Where is the logic in this scene? I mean, Kajol could just jump in to the nearest compartment and meet Shahrukh at the next station." Arnav explained while taking His plate from the table and sitting next to Khushi.
"Oh, Please... Where is the drool worthy romance in such crap logical scenes?" Khushi retorted. "A Love Story is complete only when the Guy and the Girl realises that they are in Love and will be together for eternity with at least some unrealistic filminess."
"You mean to say that Your love story would be complete only if something unrealistic and filmy would happen?" Arnav questioned incredulously.
"Yup! That would be My Love Story." Khushi confirmed while looking at Kajol and Shahrukh Khan reunite on TV and Arnav smiled at Her again.
Suddenly, the TV switched off on it's own and everything went black.
"Oh, My God! What is happening??" Khushi questioned in the darkness of the room.
"Khushi.. It's just a power cut... The heavy rains outside have affected the electricity supply." Arnav calmly explained.
Khushi inched closer to Arnav. "Arnav... Find some light, Please."
"Wait here. I will be right back with candles." Arnav instructed while getting up from the couch but was stopped by Khushi's pull on His hand.
"Arnav.. Can I come along with You? I am scared of the dark." Khushi said timidly while getting up and holding Arnav's hand.
Arnav tightened His hold on Her hand and started walking towards the kitchen guided by the minimum flash of lightning outside the window.
A streak of lightning cut through the sky which made Khushi close Her eyes.
"Ow!" Khushi cried and touched Her knee which hit the kitchen door, bumping into Arnav's head at the same time.
"Oww!" Arnav groaned, clutching His head and rubbing the pain away.
Khushi wanted to scream with joy when Her foot touched the marble tiles of the kitchen.
Arnav grabbed the candle stand from the counter and lit the two candles, illuminating the kitchen in soft light. He turned around to see Khushi rubbing Her arm in an attempt to keep Herself warm.
"Are You alright?" Arnav questioned, His gaze softening.
"Yeah. I am fine." Khushi looked down at their joined hands, feeling Arnav's warmth seep into Her even in the midst of the heavy cold.
"Why are You shivering?"
"There is nothing wr-.." Khushi's words were drowned by a loud roar of thunder which made Khushi yelp and crush Her head on Arnav's shoulder.
"Don't worry. I am here..." Arnav caressed Her head with one hand and kept the candle on the counter with the other hand.
"I am Sorry. I think I am a bit tensed because of all the events of today." Khushi blushed at the close proximity She was sharing with Arnav.
Arnav reached for Her trembling cold hand while His other hand wrapped itself on Her waist.
Khushi watched with a puzzled expression as Arnav moved and made Her move as well, swaying in time to the soft patter of rain on the window.
"Feeling better?" Arnav questioned in concern while fire danced in His eyes.
"Yes. A bit." Khushi replied promptly.
"Feels like a romantic movie?" Arnav smirked at Khushi's relaxed face.
"Ummm... Much better." Khushi chuckled.
Elated with Her comment, Arnav tightened His hold while wondering How Khushi had floored Him completely in just one night and possessed His heart like no one had done before.
Everything. Arnav and Khushi forgot about everything, saw only each other, enjoyed the closeness and warmed each other's hearts filling a void which was previously empty.
Tomorrow could wait, the shadows of their past could wait, for right now in this moment in time, nothing else mattered but the two of them.❤️
