Her eyes quickly scanned his surroundings , and she realized one very important fact.
He was alone today.
Reluctantly, she looked back at him.
Only to drop her eyes again as she realized that his eyes were fixed on her with a single-minded focus.
And they weren't on her face.
A blush burned it's way across her cheeks, and she self-consciously pulled the light jacket around herself tightly.
"Khushi."
Her name on his lips made her breathless.
His voice danced along her nerves, setting them on fire.
She clenched her hands into fists, trying to control her unprecedented reaction .
This feeling of being out of control...of having no say in her own body's responses...this was a first.
She suddenly realized that he was waiting for a reply, while she had been standing there like a statue for a few minutes now.
She cleared her throat, and looked up at him.
"You...you are here all by yourself today?"
One corner of his lips lifted in a small smile, and her heart stopped all over again.
"Is that a problem?"
"But...but why?"
She cursed her foolishness just as soon as the question left her mouth.
He certainly had the right to be here, just like everyone else in the vicinity.
And it was none of her business, after all.
"Why do you think?"
His reply made her eyes widen, and just then a small movement of his hand drew her attention and she realized that he held a parcel of some sort in one hand.
Having no idea about what her response should be , she fixed her eyes on the brown parcel instead.
He followed the direction of her gaze, then held it out to her.
"Here. This is for you."
"For...me?"
Even as the words left her lips, she saw the label on the brown paper and knew exactly what the parcel contained.
She raised startled eyes to his, and her surprise intensified at the satisfaction evident in the caramel gaze.
"But...how did you know?"
He smiled, a full version this time.
Her poor heart really couldn't take more of this...this torment.
