Here is the second installment. It's a bit longish, sorry for that, couldn't make it shorter. It focuses mostly on the Dosti in D3.

Chapter 2

The Termite Effect

Next morning

Boys' Locker Room

Swayam is keeping books inside his locker when Rey enters, literally hopping.

He is panting, probably because he has been running till the locker room. After catching his breath, Rey says: "Hey dude, mujhe tujhe kuchh batana hai...

Swayam turns to look at him : haan bol...

As Rey was about to speak they are interrupted by Vicky who enters crying. He is unable to stand properly and keeps falling on either Nilesh on his right or Bharat on his left. Both keep pushing him toward each other like a shuttle.

Rey and Swayam together: "Abbe kya hua?"

After much drama, Vicky reveals about his tragic fate.

"Dude Neha yaar... wo pakka kissi ladke se chat karti hai... facebook pe... raat raat bhar online rehti hai... main puchu to kehti hai jhaansi wali mausi se baat kar rahi hai... tu bata... bata..." He gets all hyper and grabs Swayam's shirt and continues, "kaunsi mausi itne raat ko online hoti hai?"

Bharat immediately says:

"Arre koi mausi wausi nai hai. Yeh ladkiyaan hum ladko ko churan samajhti hai!"

Swayam somehow releases himself from Vicky's clutches and looking at Bharat, angrily retorts: "Tujhe kaise pata? Ek to yeh yahaan aise... aur upar se tu! Naarad muni!"

He then turns to Vicky.

"Look Vicky, you should trust Neha... agar usne bola Jhaansi wali mausi hai to mausi hogi yaar."

"Exactly", says Rey. "Aur Bharat tu isko bhadka mat."

Nilesh remarks :

"Haan aur waise bhi... Neha ke saath baat karna tak to thik hai... par chatting...tsk tsk" Nilesh nods his head in disbelief. "And btw, tu raat ko online kya karta hai?"

Vicky protests

"Aee... kya matlab kya hai tera?"

Rey senses trouble and diverts attention:

"Arre chhor na ye sab... bhukh lagi hai... canteen chalte hai..."

Vicky jumps at the proposal:

"Arre canteen nai yaar... agar ladkiya hogi to phir se weakling v/s dazzler ka drama chalu, aur humein phir se fight ki acting karni hogi."

Nilesh and Bharat agree: "Haan yaar... sahi mein". They both shout.

Bharat: "Aur iss baar mera dimaag satak gaya na... toh..."

Rey silences them: "Abbe ladkiyan nai hai udhar... maine pata kiya hai... ab chalo sab..."

The boys move forward. Rey and Swayam follow.

Swayam speaks to Rey in his usual philosophical way as they walk:

"Dude, ye shaq na... mazbut se mazbut relationship ko bhi hilake rakh deti hai... you know it's somewhat like termite..." Swayam was going to expand more on his analogy when Rey cuts him short.

"Abbe paka mat aur meri baat sun! Jo main bataunga wo sunke tera tower hil jayega", Rey slightly pulls Swayam by his shirt, distancing them from the group:

"Sharon has gone out for lunch... with a guy."

Swayam, taking a deep breath: "Okay... so?"

Rey says, "Puri baat sun aur phir react kar. Ladka hai wo fattu Shivam... KR college ka...wohi jisse dance ka D nai aata phir bhi dance team ka leader banta phirta hai."

Swayam's face contorts slightly hearing Shivam's name. He remembers how Shivam was ogling Sharon throughout the dance competition held in KR College last year. But he quickly composes himself and feigns apathy: "yeah, so? Mujhe kyun bata raha hai?"

Rey gets impatient and says: "Ae, ye stud type acting mere saamne to mat kar. I know kal Sharon ne teri bahat lii..." Swayam glares at him.

Rey continues:

"I mean insult ki... but dude, this ain't good! I can smell trouble. Yeh Shivam na... waise to hai ek number ka chhinchhora, par ladkiyon ke maamle mein hai bahat shnaada. Last year during dance fest, usne wo Dolly aur Mili, dono ko..."
Swayam is unable to hold it together any longer and interrupts Rey, going full on hyper mode: "I can't believe wo Shivam ke saath bahar gayi... I mean Shivam, seriously Shivam? That guy is a certified jerk. What the...! What was she thinking?"

Rey chips in: "Point is, what are you thinking, of doing now?"

Swayam shrugs:

"What should I do? Teri friend hai, tu sambhal. Waise bhi wo meri baat kyun sunegi?"

Rey now smiles looking at Swayam's baffled state: "Really now?"

Swayam says: "Waise I didn't know she was friendly with Shivam."

Rey : "Neither did I, till this morning. Sharon I tell you! Anyway, chal vada pav khate hai aur kuchh sochte hai, tarkeeb."

Girls' Locker Room / Noon

Sharon and Shivam are at the threshold of Girls' locker room. They are back after lunch.

Shivam starts speaking: "I don't know why you had to return so soon babe. We were having such an amazing time."

Sharon fakes a smile and says: "I know... what to do? Head ache. Told you."

Shivam who was now leaning on the door nods: "I know. Too bad."

Sharon steps inside. Shivam wonders if he should come in or stand outside and keeps looking here and there. Sharon reads his actions and immediately speaks: "You can't come inside you know. It's not allowed."

Shivam smiles uncomfortably:

"Yeah of course. I know that... So..."

"So you should go now", Sharon blurts out. She realizes she sounded rather rude, so she rephrases the sentence: "I mean I have a class to attend now, and then rehearsal, tum yahaan rehke kya karoge. I'll see you, some other time. Yeah?"

Shivam doesn't get the message and continues with his small talk:

"I get it Sharon. Don't be so formal now..."

No you don't, thought an irritated Sharon. He takes a few steps backward as he talks to Sharon and collides with Kriya who was coming from behind.

Kriya is pissed off as all her books drop from her hand.

Shivam apologises: "Hey I'm so sorry I wasn't looking."

Kriya irritated says: "Of course you weren't," and makes a face.

"Ignore her." Sharon says to Shivam.

Kriya mutters to herself:

"Pata nahin St. Louis mein ye naye naye namuney kahan se aa jate hai! College ka naam St. Louis nahin St. Loony hona chahiye."

Shivam resumes his conversation with Sharon. Kriya listens to their conversation as she collects her scattered books.

Shivam smiles creepily and continues: "And remember babe, you owe me a date. Trust me you won't be disappointed. Ye mera daawa hai." (pouts)

Both Kriya and Sharon find his cheesy talk equally disgusting but Sharon's two minions- Simmi and Rinni are delighted by Shivam. They stand behind Sharon, listening to him with awe and admiration. Kriya pushes Rinni and enters the locker room.

Shivam tests Sharon's patience for some time more with his small talk. Sharon bids him adieu and walks in. Kriya and Sharon exchange an angry look look. (jaan mein dum playing in background). Kriya was ready for another round of battle, especially after the previous day's canteen fight which was inconclusive as Swayam had dragged her away. She was used to this now. But the last thing Sharon wanted was to be reminded of Weaklings v/s Dazzlers. It was a vicious circle that didn't seem to end. She was tired of relentlessly carrying forward this ritual she had herself begun. It all seemed so redundant now. Sharon walked past Kriya without passing any of her snide remarks, towards the washroom, leaving a surprised Kriya behind.

Simmi and Rinni oblivious to the changes occurring in their friend, gossip among themselves. "He is so cute nah..." Simmi says, "they look really good together." Rinni nods.

Kriya thinks in voice over:

"Hoor ke saath aaj ye langoor kaun tha? And did he say date?" Kriya ki dimaag ki batti jal uthti hai. "Oh, toh Rey issike baare mein baat kar rahe the. Ye Shivam hai! Hey Universe ji, akhir Dazzler chhokri ko ho kya gaya hai? Chot lagi hai sar pe? Swayam ko batana padega."

An anxious Kriya runs from there to find Swayam.

Classroom / Afternoon

Kriya enters and her eyes search for Swayam. She finds him sitting in a corner, doodling something in his notebook, quiet as usual. Bharat and Vishakha seated in front of him are involved in a fist fight. Neha wonders why her Deewana is looking duller than usual and sat brooding beside Amar. Nilesh is trying to cheer Vicky up but his pep talk is of no help. Kriya glares at Bharat once and moves to sit beside Swayam when her eyes are drawn towards Rey, who was ardently looking at her. They have an eyelock and both smile and nod to each other. (Short LLHH with KriyaAnsh tune in bg). Kriya proceeds and walks past Rey to go and sit beside Swayam. Rey is disappointed. He glares and frowns at Swayam who was clueless till then, but soon gets it seeing Kriya. He is amused and smiles at Rey. Rey shows him a punch in a playful manner.

Kriya decides to speak before Sharon and group enter the class. She calls Swayam who was engrossed in his notebook, pulling him by his arm: "Swayam... Swayam baat suno meri..."

Swayam turns towards Kriya: "Haan Kriya bolo... kya baat hai?"

Kriya whispering: "Woh Sharon, wo aaj date pe gayi thi pata hai..."

Swayam, curving his eyebrows into two perfect arcs, : "Toh, main kya karu?"

Kriya, getting more hyper: "Swayam wo kisi ladke ke saath date pe gayi thi, Shivam karke... aaya tha wo, usse college chhorne..."

Swayam, keeping his calm: "Kriya, wo date pe jayegi to ladke ke saath hi jayegi. Agar ladki ke saath chali jaati to mere liye koi hope hi nai bachta, right? Not that abhi hope hai..."

Kriya, very irritated: "Uff mere kehne ka matlab wo nai tha. Swayam, tum itne calm kaise baith sakte ho? Wo kisi aur ke saath date pe ja rahi hai, tumhe farak nai padhta?"

Swayam, now a little agitated: "Haan mujhe farak padhta hai. Par main kya karu? Iss situation mein main kya kar sakta hoon? Kis haq se karu? Mujhe samajh mein nai aata tum aur Rey mujhse kya expect karte ho?"

Kriya growing even more hyper now rebukes Swayam. "Aur mujhe samajh mein nai aata tum uss ladki mein..." Her sentence is left hanging as Swayam completes it. "...kya dekhta hoon? Kyun karta hoon pyaar? I don't know Kriya. I wish I knew. I wish it was in my control... Bas karta hoon. Anyway..." Swayam now speaks with a straight face, "fact is main uske liye exist nai karta hoon and I've to live with it. Wo kissiko date karein ya nai, isse meri situation change nai hogi."

"Kal usne tumhe itna sunaya, aur tumne mujhe jawab bhi nai dene diya. I just don't understand her Swayam...no more than I understand you." says a confused Kriya. "Let it go Kriya. I've stopped thinking," says a determined Swayam. His face betrayed not a hint of any emotion, but there was a vast emptiness that lay in his eyes. Kriya feels sad seeing the ever-optimistic Swayam so low. She speaks to him in a soft, caring tone: "But RDX Sir ki party mein to tum dono mein dosti hui thi na... thodi si...par hui to thi na...? to phir kal yeh..."

Swayam looks up at Kriya with questions racing through his mind. "Tumhe kaise...tum...tum thi wahan?" He gets flashbacks of the moments he and Sharon spent and gets all conscious.

Kriya says: "Maine kuchh nai dekha, naahi kuchh suna... but I know. Tum ussike saath the na... hai na?" She pokes him slightly to make him smile. Swayam finally smiles blushing a little. Kriya smiles seeing him smile.

"Aur tum Mr. Singhania ke saath thi, Am I right?" says Swayam naughtily smiling. Kriya's eyes pop out, she immediately looks at Rey who was talking to Nilesh, unaware. Swayam follows her eyes looking at Rey and speaks: "Rey ne mujhe kuchh nai bataya, but I know."

Kriya with a mock serious face: "And he better not, warna main usse jaan se maar dungi!"t

Swayam teasingly: "Whoa! Jaan se maar dungi and all haan, itna tashan... abhi se... Footloose ke liye kuchh bachake rakho."

Both Swayam and Kriya break into laughter.

Rey looked at the two Weakling buddies laugh their hearts out. He was happy to finally see Swayam happy. Ever since the canteen fight, Swayam had been keeping low.

And his Baatcutter looked ever so cute. He knew that Kriya could cheer Swayam up. As Rey was looking at Kriya admiringly, Nilesh was also noticing Swayam and Kriya.

Nilesh lets out a sigh and speaks: "Chalo, koi to khush hai..."

Vicky taking a break from lamenting: "Kya? Kaun? Kahaan?"

Nilesh pointing at Swayam and Kriya: "Wo dekh... Swayam aur Kriya ko dekh... dono ek dusre mein kitne khoye huye hai..."

Rey immediately sits up hearing his friends talk. "Wha... yeh kya keh raha hai Nil?"

Vicky smiling: "Kya! Swayam and Kriya! Ye kab hua! khair jo bhi hua achha hua. This Swayam is one really nice dude, he deserves some happiness. I'm glad that he's moving on..."

Nilesh: "Haan yaar. And let's face it, Sharon to isse milne se rahi. Achha hai apne hi team mein koi mil gayi..."

Rey: "Wo wo wo... wait a sec... yeh tum dono kya bakwas kar rahe ho! Swayam and Kriya! Are you two out of your f**king minds! Swayam and Kriya sirf dost hai, okay!"

Nil and Vicky together: "Tereko kaise pata?"

Vicky: "Aur tujhe kyun mirchi lag rahi hai agar Swayam khush hai to?"

Rey: "Mujhe mirchi namak kuchh nai lagi. I'm just stating facts. I know Swayam better than the two of you. Aur wo Sharon ko chhorke kissi aur ke bare mein soch bhi nai sakta. So give it a rest!"

Nilesh nodding: "Haan ye baat bhi sahi hai. Swayam is a majnu of the highest order. But he should think of other options also na..."

Vicky: "Haan sahi bola."

Rey, extremely angry now:

"Ae... kya sahi bola? Pyaar koi multiple choice question nahi hai that you will have options. Aur Vicky, mere khayal se, options dhundne ki zaroorat tujhe hai, Swayam ko nai, kyunki right now, teri gaadi derail hone ke chances zyaada hai!" pointing at Neha.

Vicky looks at Neha who was talking to Amar with her typical inanimate expressions and they were both laughing about something. Vicky's expressions change instantly, as if somebody turned off the lights in his face.

Vicky muttering to himself, almost inaudibly with clenched teeth: "Amar! Saala Thambi ka sidekick! You're dead meat bro."

Rey manages to silence Nil and Vicky but is still very uncomfortable with their interpretation, rather misinterpretation of Kriya and Swayam's relationship. He wondered why he became so upset as this was Swayam, his friend, and he knew it wasn't anything like the boys spoke, yet the thought pricked him inside. On the other hand Vicky wondered if Amar could be Neha's Jhaansi wali mausi.

Goshh I loved loved loved Kriyam wala part<3:-):-):-)

i never thought i would love this update more than the 1st one considering it focused on dosti while the latter did on swaron but i did. i loved it way more than the 1st chapter.
when i started reading i had highlighted parts that i wanted to mention here but by the time i was done, there were too many to paste so i gave up the idea.
i loved vicky, i loved rey and i absolutely loved kriya. even her thoughts were so funny and kriya-ish.
all the friendships were stressed on and beautifully so. esp the kriyam part was fab. i always thought palki did a grave injustice to their friendship.
how i wish you had been the writer, maybe it would have still been watchable.
thank you for mentioning clearly that sharon was disgusted by shivam's creepy dialogues.
more than anything else i loved the flow and mood of this update. so many people were upset in this yet the mood was light and upbeat, just like it used to be in D3.
