This really is not the time to think about updating your story on a forum, it's about feeling better and taking care of your dear ones. As a responsible child of your parents, as you have rightly done, their well being should be your first and foremost priority...

Threads of stories on IF will remain and they aren't going anywhere. You can come back anytime and complete them.

Just take care of yourself.

Don't be hard on yourself.

I'm so sorry to hear about all this. I thought that with your mother being ill and your exams, etc. you might have decided to discontinue the story. Welcome back! And get well soon. A speedy recovery to your dad as well. We'll be waiting for the next chapter :)
