I know its your story but I had an idea. You can show that Arnav had to go to Lakshmi nagar with Payal Akash and khushi. Then he can see the difference with which both sisters r treated and the casual way in which Khushi takes it all.
That would make him appreciate her more. Her cheerfulness even when she is made to work while Payal is asked to rest as she is her mayka would awaken the protective side in him. When he would see how the Gupta's r interested in making all the favourite dishes of Payal akash and Arnav without even considering khushi(infact asking her make most of them) and then giving priority to feeding others before Khushi and all such things and her still being cheerful would stir unknown protective instincts in him.
Its my personal opinion but then the story is yours so please don't take it otherwise. I was just suggesting.
