Chapter 9

The boxes were already filling up when Angad and Kripa got there. In them Kripa saw tanned and sunburned faces. Ladies were dressed in pretty pastel color summer dressed. And, too many of them turned to look at Angad as they walked past them, bodies brushing, to their box. And, hell Kripa hated it. But liked the fact he paid on attention to them but only took her hand and paid attention to her.

"The last time I saw so many people together was when Nishant took me to the last world cup."

Could you please stop talking about Nishant, Angad thought bitterly. He loved his brother, but he loved his wife more. And was too possessive to hear her talking about her ex-fianc.

"Want something to drink?" He asked when they sat down.

"Something cool, a lemonade would do fine. No coke or anything. Even water will be great."

"I'll be right back." Before leaving he pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Don't wander off, I don't want to loose you here."

"I won't, Angad. Go." With a smile he disappeared.

"Hi Kripa." Kripa looked to the other way and saw Viola walking her way. "Nice to see you here. Are you alone?"

"No. Angad just left to get me a drink." Why are you here? she wanted to ask. "Are you alone?"

"Was, until found you. First race?" She asked sipping the beer in her hand.

"Yes." She looked down at the other people, saw Paddy. He was an attractive young man, maybe she could "hook him up" with Viola. The thought made her smile. Her gaze moved to the brown oval and the inward grass around which the horses would be shortly running. She understood races and that was a relief.

Angad came back and sat down beside Kripa, his arm instantly around her when he saw Viola. "Here's your drink and I'm hoping you'll share."

"It's too big for me to drink alone. You didn't get yourself a straw?" She sipped the cold drink.

"Do I really need one?" He asked sipping right after her, making her smile that he was ignoring Viola.

"Hey Viola." He said taking her hand, kissing it.

Kripa cursed mentally. She shouldn't have jinxed herself. "Did you bet?"

"Of course on my horse. Did you?" He looked at her face, the shades made her look different.

"Do you think so?" She asked giving him the drink. "But I want to."

"On who?'

"Not yours."

"Wait till the third race." He told her, leaning over to kiss her, the excitement in her.

She looked at him, "You said you weren't ending our marriage Angad." She basically whispered it in his ear so Viola couldn't hear while she was busy attending a call.

"I was just teasing you Kripa." He kissed her forehead and they both saw the horses being brought to the gate.

"They all look so beautiful." She sighed and felt better when Angad's hand rested on hers. When the gates opened and the horses ran with their riders wildly, Kripa's eyes stayed on Angad's mare and her fingers linked hard with his. When they curved the first corner and ending the first race Kripa gasped. They might have made it business now but she could see why it was a sport for kings.

When it was over she laid a hand on her chest in excitement. "I never thought this would be so much more exiting seeing in real than on T.V. My hearts still pounding and- don't smile like that." Then laughed. "It's just wonderful. A once-in-a-lifetime experience. And, I want to bet on the next one."

"Third one." He said sipping his drink.

When her time finally came she did bet with the money that wasn't Angad's but the money that had been sitting in her purse from before her parents had died. She had plans if she won. Taking his hand she took him away from the conversation he was having with Viola and to the railing. "This is exciting." She clung to him and then jumped in air when the horse she'd bet on moved ahead of others. "He's moving forward, Angad!"

"Hold your horses," he laughed. "They still have half a mile to go."

"I don't mind loosing but I rather win." She looked back and when they both thought everyone was calm again the crowd roared as the colt moved up to second and a head away from taking first. Kripa caught his shirt and tugged, straining to hear the announcers.

"Oh my god!" Her arms flew around Angad. "He won! I won!" Laughing she kissed Angad, hard and loud. "How much?"

"You mercenary little brat."

She laughed and kissed him again, this was the second most perfect day of her life. "Its not about that, I only bet on him and won. Now tell me how much?"

"Fifty dollars."

"Yippee!" She jumped with her arms still around his neck. "When is your horse running."

"Fifth race."

"Cool! I want to buy you something."

"But Kripa." He walked with her and allowed her to do what she wanted. He'd never seen her this excited and happy. And it had to do with more than just winning. She bought him beer, as he wanted, and herself a bag of chips. And they were back in time to see the fifth race being announced.

"I hope she wins." Kripa said with her mouth full. "Sorry."

"It's okay." He laughed and stole a chip from her bag. "And, I know she'll win."

"Me too! And not only because I bet on her. I wonder what it must feel like to be the owner of one."

"I should ask you." He looked at her surprised face. "You own her just as much as I would. She's a part of that property you own now."

"Oh! But still how does it feel?"

"It feels like having an expensive lover." He grinned at her. "It's true. You put so much money in taking care of them and they pay you back with winning."

"You're full of blarney." She drank out of her glass and turned to the horses again. "They're starting," she announced dryly.

It felt wonderful, he thought. Felt wonderful to be standing with his wife and watch her face full of excitement. He'd never thought that he would be able to live in once place. During college he traveled a lot, transferred a few times even. He never imagined to be married to a beautiful twenty-six year old crazy women who loved him so much at twenty-eight.

He was twenty-eight, successful, rich as hell, married, and very much in love with his very beautiful wife. It was becoming easier and easier for him to stay at one place and with one women.

When he'd married Kripa he thought he would end up betraying her by keeping touch with other women. But he never did. Her wifely duties never allowed him to. And, with passing months his interest in traveling around without her also lessened. If he traveled now it wouldn't be without Kripa.

"You won!" She was jumping in laughing again. Her arms came around his neck again. "You won! Oh, Angad I'm so happy for you."

"Are you?" He rested his hands on her waist. He'd forgotten about everything. The race, the horse, and the bet.

"Of course I am. She looked very charming. And I think we've won a good amount of money. The odds were-"

He stunned her by dragging her closer and pressing his lips to hers. With a scrape of his teeth, making her part them. The power, passion, and love, she realized, left her limp.

He loves me! she thought in pleasure and excitement as he lifted her off her feet and kissed her deeper. He loves me and he's kissing me in a public place, lovely!

He drew her away and looked at her in daze. "To hell with the odds." And he kissed her again.

"Dinner's mine." Kripa said helping Angad on with his coat. "Angad I need to tell you something."

"After dinner." He said turning around, knowing exactly what she had in mind. "I promise." He looked at her, brought her closer in that silk robe and kissed her. Then again and again. He kissed her again and again, long, slow, lazy kisses.

"Stop." She demanded tilting her head back. Her head was dizzy, otherwise she would have never stopped him. Not now when he was so close to her. Her lip looked kind of puffy now that he'd been chewing it forever.

"I'm sorry." He leaned over and kissed her more lightly this time. "Come with me." Taking her hand he took her to the fridge and took out ice, rubbing it on her lip. "I didn't mean to do that. I just got….carried away."

She laughed and tilted her head away from the ice. "Sorry won't make a dead man alive." She winked and hugged him. "You know Angad-"

"No I don't know. Get ready, June and Viola must be waiting."

"I don't understand," she looked up at him, "why are June and Viola coming with us?"

"Because I invited them." It was a perfect was to bother her, he knew. "They'll be good company."

"Am I not good enough?" She took another, smaller cube ice, and popped it in her mouth to crunch on.

"Okay maybe we can drive them away."

"I want to because I want to spend tonight day with my husband."

"And I want to with my wife. Kripa I-"

"Later." She stopped him and turned with a grin. She was understanding the game he was playing with her. "Let me change and we'll go. Tell June and Viola we've cancelled the office dinner. It will be a candle light between us now." She disappeared into their room and closed the door.

Angad sat on the sofa of their hotel room watching the recording of the races from this morning, with a wide grin on his face. He watched himself, Kripa, and his mare in the winners circle. He remembered the first question he was asked by reporters was about the lady standing with him. And he'd, finally, told the press and media that she was his wife, Kripa Khanna.

"Kripa!" He yelled pausing the T.V., he know she would be excited to see herself like that. "Kripa," he yelled again.

"Yes Angad." She walked out of the room fixing the neck of her sexy ivory dress. Angad stood with his mouth dropping to the floor. She looked…gorgeous. Yet it wasn't the right word, it wasn't enough to explain how dazzling she looked. With he ivory dress on her, her skin looked more creamy. He wanted to walk over and touch her, make sure he wasn't imagining things. The silk dress matched her wonderful chestnut hair color. The texture looked exactly the same, he knew well when he touched them both it would feel the identical as well.

"Angad." She looked up at him when she'd adjusted the dress's neck. It was a fluid and light dress, with absolutely no patterns or work on it. Fell lazily to her upper stomach and then fell into a thick crunched belt and then into the continuing scrunched cloth that stopped slightly above her knees.

And my God, with nothing in her neck but that slim, barely visible gold chain he'd given her and small diamonds in her ears, she looked marvelous.

She smiled at his dazed look, she'd hit the right string in his heart. "What are you looking at, Angad?" One hand swung to her side, while she ran one at the top of her head to smoothen it down.

"You," he whispered vulnerably. "You look…" a new word, he thought. Something that would tell her exactly the way he felt. But a word that could describe how good she looked was yet to be invented.

"I look?" She brought her hands to his chest, with the help of her heels, she looked right at his mouth now. Tilted back slightly to meet his eyes.

Her eyes looked silky and shiny brown. Around her eyes she wore brown liner in a light, smoky fashion. Her lashes framed her eyes thickly. Her eyes were just…dark. And, perhaps she didn't know or perhaps she was doing this on purpose, but those eyes looked incredibly naughty. That small, sexy, smile that curved her lips allowing her cheekbone to lift just a little, tugged his heart. Exactly the way he didn't want to tonight.

Her hair were tired in a simple twist at the back of her head, leaving her shoulders nearly bare, except the slim straps. He picked up his hand and ran it up her head, scattering the pins in her hair. When most of them fell to her feet and the silk fell over her shoulders, he smiled. They fell in natural curls and waves, yet didn't look messy. Looked elegant and glossy.

He tugged the ends and played with it. "If you're trying to seduce me, Kripa," he lifted a hand a traced her cheekbone, took his face close until it was a whisper away from hers. "It's working just perfectly. If I hadn't already booked that fantastic, fancy dinner, you would be somewhere else instead of standing here on your feet."

Color ran to her cheeks and the rest of her face flushed pale. She nibbled her lips and he ran a thumb over her lower lip to stop her.

"I never thought you were the type of girl, in high school, who would appeal me later as a woman. Now I think I was a fool. When I married you I was scared of both of us. I didn't love you then and that's why I was scared I would be driven to other woman still. But something in you always kept me tied. The way you took care of me everyday, like a child, like you loved me so much, from the first day till today."

She looked up at him, her face was burning. Courtesy the closeness, his breath, his touch. His eyes looked tawny in what seemed a mixture of passion and compassion. Love and friendship.

He cupped her elbows and brushed his lips over her temple, she loved it when he did that. So intimidating. So intimate. "I've always felt that I could never give you anything in return. I want to today, Kripa. For once and for all. I've had over a million girlfriends, I traveled this entire world, and I've always thought I would never find someone, one lady, who would give me everything. Everyone had flaws, something or the other. So do you."

It made her smile completely. The way he was getting to his confession made her heart fill with joy. And, for those three words she could have given him her everything.

"Yet, I found myself falling for you. It took me seven months but it happened. I realized I was in love with you."

She opened her mouth- closed it when he placed a finger under her chin.

"Let me finish." He cupped the side of her neck. "Or should I wait?"

"If you make me wait now I wouldn't be able to breathe anymore. Hurry."

With a grin he kissed her forehead. "Thank you. Don't cry," he demanded. "When I went to Boston I don't know why, I couldn't concentrate. You clouded my mind to my fingertips. I couldn't think but about you. Then I simply pacified myself by saying I was simply used to my wife. I accepted that much on my trip. I also realized that you had kept me busy enough that I didn't think about having to search for affairs." He read the impatience in her eyes, but he would pour his heart out before telling her the exact words.

"The day I spent with you after I returned was one of my best and then today. The night I spent with you was never a mistake for me, Kripa."

In shock, in anger, in surprise, in sentiments a tear dropped. He framed her face, and slid a thumb over the tear. "I wanted to tell you Kripa. I wanted to hold you and tell you that I wanted you forever, that I loved you, the second I saw you the next morning. But in my room I came across Nishant's picture. You loved him, you were drunk the night before, I pretty much left you no choice but to be with me. But I never figured it a mistake. I loved you that night, they way, perhaps I'd been waiting to for a very long time."

"Why are you torturing me, Angad?" She was trembling now.

"I'll continue to do that. I need to tell you exactly how I feel. I knew I was in love with my wife, but I kept putting it off. Scared of facing rejection." When she rolled her eyes he smiled. "But I couldn't keep it to myself anymore."

"You're still keeping it to yourself Angad."

"So are you," he whispered pressing his lips to her forehead for the third time. "You have been hiding it from yourself and me."

She pushed him back now, surprising him. "Well if my husband, who supposedly loves me very much, doesn't even bother touching me for two entire days, I'm forced to think he doesn't love me. And if he sits drinking wine with another lady after telling me he wants a divorce. And, he just walks away seeing me cry, what am I supposed to do, throw myself on him when he'd made it clear he doesn't want me?"

"Kripa." He stepped forward and took her arms, held her close. "Stop crying. I was only joking."

"Well it was a disgusting one." She tried to pull back but he embraced her tightly. "I hate you Angad." She whispered in his shirt as he pressed kisses to her head. "I hate you."

"I couldn't think of touching you Kripa. I was so scared, I wanted to be with you so terribly I didn't dare touch you." He tilted her head up and smiled at her crying eyes. "And I was bothering you because it's always fun to do so. And, I was only using Viola to make you jealous."

"You're so bad." She hit his chest and hugged him again. "I still hate you."

"I want you to hate me just like this for the rest of your life then. I'll let you tell me that you hate me everyday, a million times a day, if you promise to stay this close. Are you done crying?"

She frowned looking up at him. "Yes. It was your fault. Now if you're done making me cry lets go." Leaving his shirt she tossed her head back so the curls were pushed back. "Why were you calling me anyways?"

"Oh!" He turned her around and played the footage again. "Look, we're on T.V."

"Oh cool!" she said lamely.

"I have something cooler to tell you." He told her, whispered in her ear in fact, leaning closer to her. "Remember I told you I was in love with someone and I would love her forever."

"Yes, I won't forgive for that stupid comment either. It worried me. If you're planning to tell me who she is I don't want to know." She turned the T.V. off and left him standing there.

Chapter 10

He drove thought the empty streets in silence. If he tried to take to Kripa she would only reply with short answers. Spoke only when it was necessary and smiled to see him so impatient. He'd been testing her patients, now it was her turn.

When they arrived at the restaurant, built on the beach, Kripa simply walked away from him. Not because it would irate his more, but because the sight was so beautiful. When he stepped beside her she took his hand in excitement.

"I haven't seen anything more beautiful, Angad." Her face turned to his and she kissed his cheek. "Thank you."

The entire place was lit with candles hanging from the glass roof of the outside seating area. Music, Hawaiian to be more specific, played in a jukebox with young girls entertaining. On the other side of the eating area most couples enjoyed the water with their children or alone. Some sat on the sand looking at the setting sun, while some sat and enjoyed a good book with the music.

"Mr. Khanna." Kripa looked away from the water to a old man walking there way. He looked to be in his mid fifties, dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and beige shorts. His hair fell over his forehead in a dark brown color. His eyes were deep blue, matched the water perfectly. And, the man was absolutely to handsome to be in his fifties.

"Welcome. You're guests have been waiting for you for quite sometime."

His arm was now around Kripa as he shook hands with the man. "Thank you, Tom. You always make my life so much easier when I'm here."

"Oh, anytime." Tom gave Angad a tightly, loud smack on his shoulder and looked at Kripa. "Is this your latest girlfriend?" He asked him with a naught wink.

"Well actually, Tom, this is my permanent wife." Angad laughed at his expression and gave him that slap back on his shoulder. "Yup, I got married."

"Hey, that's not fair!" He took Kripa's hand and kissed it. "She's too good for you." He winked at Kripa, who grinned back.

"No, I was thinking the other way around." He pressed a kiss to Kripa's temple chucking at her look. "Now if you don't mind, why don't you show us our table?"

"Of course, June and Viola are waiting for you." He told him over his shoulder, leading them to a table far back on the gigantic beach.

"Angad," Kripa whispered to him. "I thought you told them we were going out together, alone." She tugged at his arm finding it hard to walk into the sand with heels. "And you should have told me we were coming to eat in the sand. I wouldn't have bothered the heels." Angry, he wasn't talking to her, she looked at him.

He was dressed in jeans with a dark blue and white, striped shirt. Over his broad shoulders he wore a black coat. It was stylish, she thought. He was stylish.

"Are you angry?" She asked pressing her cheek to his arm.

"Of course not. My wife just didn't want to talk to me for the one hour drive here, why should I be angry? I was just trying to tell her how much I loved her, but she didn't want to hear me. Why should I be angry?"

"You're wife says sorry." She stopped him, kissed him, and walked with him behind Tom.

"Here we are!" Tom announce seeing Viola and June. "I'll be back in a few minutes with your menus."

Oh the menus, Kripa thought. She hated the menus. She'd never been here before and with Viola here, it would be horrible.

"Hi Kripa." June stood up and hugged her. "You guys are late." She told Angad after wards.

"Of course we aren't late, June." He leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Haven't you heard someone say, The queen is never late, everyone is simply early."

"I didn't know you had Princess Diaries, memorized." With an eyebrow raised, she saw Kripa holding Angad's arm. She hadn't seen her just stand with him holding his arm before, it had to be special.

"I am also here." Viola told them standing up, reaching over to embrace Kripa, shock her and Angad. Then leaning over to kiss Angad. "Why don't we sit down?"

"No." Angad shook his head. "I'm sorry, we kind of wanted to do this dinner thing alone. Why don't you guys find yourselves dates and we will leave?"

You idiot, Kripa thought rolling her eyes.

"That's terrible," Viola look him with a frown on her face, anger in her eyes, which Kripa saw clearly. "You invited us and now you're leaving us?"

"I wouldn't but Kripa and I haven't gotten any time to spend together, we would like to now."

"Oh come on Angad," Viola took his arm, that Kripa was holding and pulled him away. "We've been here so many times before. For old times sake."

He rolled his eyes at her behavior and looked back at Kripa with a sorry look.

"You were supposed to be pulled him back Kripa," June told her with a sigh.

"I was just too shocked to. And, I didn't want to start a game of tug-a-war" She straightened her spine, "But it's necessary now."

"Sit down." Viola told Angad, pushing him to the seat. Before she could sit down Kripa had her arm.

"That's my spot Viola, not yours." She smiled at her casually. Left her arm when Viola gazed at it. "Why don't you take the seat beside June. I look better beside my husband, don't you think so?"

Angad grinned, he loved seeing Kripa like this. Perfectly possessive. He moved his gaze to Viola who scowled and moved away, sat down on the chair beside June. Tom came back with four glasses of wine and set one down in front of all of them. Tom knew well enough what Angad liked, and what Viola and June liked. He assumed Kripa would like wine as well.

"I won't take wine, Tom." Angad said giving his glass back. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable in front of Viola at any point.

"Nor will I." Kripa said with a smile.

"But Angad," Viola said with a hand over his again. "You love French wine."

"That was years ago," he gritted his teeth and took his hand back. "My choice has changed a lot."

"A little too much." She tossed back, picking up her own glass for a sip, glancing at Kripa over it.

"What will you have, Angad?" Angad bit his lip, there was nothing here that wasn't alcoholic. He didn't want Kripa drunk again, not tonight. He had plans to take her around after this meal. She couldn't be out of her sense at least until he finished taking her around to a few other places tonight.

"We'll both have a Mojito Cubano." Kripa said with a smile.

"But Kripa-"

She squeezed his hand. "You'll like it. Trust me. That's it for now Tom, thank you. And, sorry for sending the wine back."

"Oh that's fine, sweetheart. I'll be back, decide your dinner until then." He picked up the two glasses of wine and left.

They all looked at Viola, when her phone rang. "Excuse me."

"Excuse us as well, June." Angad said taking Kripa's hand. "Just five minutes."

"Of course." When they left she groaned. Why was Viola here?

Angad stopped with Kripa near the water and looked at her. "First of all, do you realize there is rum in that beverage?"

"I read, light rum was included. It's better than that strong French wine Angad."

"Rum, Kripa, is very strong."

"I know that." She looked at him. "Let me kiss you." She said pressing her lips to his.

"Okay." He mumbled laughing, drawing her back. "What does that have to do with rum?"

"Nothing, I just wanted to kiss you." She kissed him again, but quickly. "And as for the drinks, we can tell Tom to give me mine without the rum. You can do that much for me, right?"

He laughed nodding his head, "I can."

"Good, now lets go. And your hands can touch only me." She told him strictly, putting her arms around his waist.

"Got it." He pressed a kiss to her cheek as they walked back to their table. While Kripa went to her table Angad went back to Tom.

"Where is Angad?" Viola asked before Kripa even sat down.

Being the stubborn lady she was being at the moment, she first sat down, made herself comfortable, then looked up at Viola with a precise smile. A smile that said 'I hate you, and you know it. Why don't you just leave now?'

She asked her again, "where is Angad."

"He…"

"I'm here." He sat down beside Kripa, his wrapping around her instantly. "Did you need something Viola?"

"No."

Tom got there and gave Kripa her drink without the rum and Angad his normal drink with the rum. Left after telling them to decide their dinner again. When he was gone away Viola continued.

"I was just remembering when we came here almost two years ago and you proposed to me, I found the ring in my wine glass. Do you remember?"

Kripa looked at her drink in with a invisible frown on her face. Angad's fingers were moving on the silk on her waist, tightened. Why was Viola here? Kripa wondered stirring her drink. She wanted to be alone with Angad, but just sending them away now seemed rude. More for June, Kripa would hate it if she had to have dinner with that bore.

"Viola, if you don't remember it was a plastic promise ring." He snapped at her, impatiently.

Kripa and June grinned now, a plastic promise ring. Nice one.

"And, it was a dare from Josh and everyone else. You knew that well enough. And, even if it was a real proposal, there's no need to be remembering it now. And, if you're only going to sit here and make a mess I rather get up and leave without dinner."

"You know what Angad," she slapped both her hands on the table. Her French wine dropped on her Marc Jacob's dress. Kripa lowered her face and then turned it to the other side to not laugh.

"Oops, you better go change that now." Angad told her in a disgusted voice. "Bye Viola."

With an angry groan and a huff she walked away. When she was gone far away, Kripa turned her face into Angad's arm and laughed while June laughed leaning back into her chair.

"You're too much Angad." Kripa told him laughing.

"She deserved that." June decided standing up herself.

"Where are you going?" Angad asked pulling Kripa closer.

"I'll leave you guy alone, Angad. You need the time." She leaned down to kiss both Angad and Kripa, then left.

Once she was gone Angad turned to Kripa and grinned. "You won't see her for a few days now."

"Yes, I'm sure she is embarrassed enough." With a satisfying sigh, Kripa placed her head against his arm, and looked out into the water. "What's the place called anyways?"

"Bahamas Breeze."

"Funky name." Resting her chin on his arm she looked up at him. "Don't you have something to tell me?" Her hand walked up his arm and settled into his hair, brushing it back.

"I do, but you've bothered me enough in an hour that it can wait." He took her hand back and kissed it. "Did I tell you how beautiful you look right now?"

"Just now?"

"Well you do everyday, but you look even better now."

"Can I ask why?"

"No reason, I'm just really happy." He gave her loud kiss to her cheek. "Would you rather have seafood, pizza, chicken, or sandwiches?"

"They have pizza's here?"

"Yes they do. I've never tried them though. There seafood is okay. I like their chickens and sandwiches. And, salads."

She laughed at his watering face, "Did you not have lunch today?"

"Just whatever we ate at the races. And, before that you scared me half to death, don't again." Running a finger over her nose he brought her closer than she already was.

"You're too romantic." She whispered looking into his eyes, those calm eyes.

"I thought ladies always appreciate that. Don't you?"

"I do. However, I'm just not used to it. I will once I'm with you for long enough."

"You'll be with me long enough, trust me."
"I hope so. You have-"

"Are you guys ready?" Tom asked walking to them. "Sorry."

Angad left Kripa and turned to him. "It's okay Tom. I think we're ready, why don't you sit down and take our order. I've known you for too long, sit." He ordered and watched him do so. "I didn't get a chance to ask you earlier, how are you?"

He laughed and shook his head. "I'm getting old, Angad. Enjoying life here away from the city rushes. Congrats on your marriage and on winning the race this morning."

"Thank you, Tom. How's your son, Chad, doing?"

"Ah he's good. He's going to University of Florida. Comes home every few weeks to visit. The boy's made us proud." Tom rubbed a hand on his face and looked back. "What do you want to eat Angad?"

"What I do every time. And, Kripa, will share." He looked at him, those eyes that turned sad the second he named Chad. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine boy." He smiled and as he walked away slapped a hand to his shoulder to let him know that he was. "Ten minutes."

Kripa watched him walk away wiping a tear from his eyes. "What's wrong?" She asked, getting close to Angad again.

"Chad, his son, he was sixteen when they found out he was fighting cancer. He went to New York for his surgery and his surgery was a month before the 9/11." He felt her hands tighten on his arm right away, he held her close. "When he was discharged he decided he would go around and he was in the WTC when they collapsed. They all thought he was dead but the found him alive three days after. I stayed with Tom during those days, we both could sit with each other. He thought he lost his son, but I did lose my brother." He squeezed her hand with a sad smile. "Despite everything Chad's doing so much. He got to the university with a full scholarship and he's been elected for a job at the Kennedy Space Center for a year almost as an intern before he graduates now."

"That's amazing. Only if Nishant could come back, Angad. Only if they found him like they found Chad."

He turned and embraced. "I'm selfish Kripa and although I loved him very much I don't want to lose you. Not now, not ever."

"He's gone Angad. He's gone to never come back."

"I know." He pulled her away and smiled down into her eyes. "Now smile." He pressed a finger at the corner of her mouth, and lifted her lips. She smiled at him and kissed him quickly.

Dinner went peacefully now that there was no Viola to bother them or keep reminding Kripa the time she'd spent with Angad. They shared a light conversation about everything, later Tom joined them and told Kripa stories about his past visits and the crazy girls he used to date. They weren't uncomfortable but funny. Angad, then and now, as Kripa could tell, had become a different person. She also came to know small things like he hated the sport golf, as if it wasn't obvious enough. He loved the chocolate Symphony. So much he'd eaten twelve bar during one hour. His favorite roses were red, not very obvious. He loved classical music, played the violin and Piano, not very obvious again. And, shockingly, hated playing football now. One of the things on his to-do list was to watch every game of the world cup, soccer, live, front row. His favorite color was black. His favorite colognes were Acqua di Gio and Armani Code. He hated wearing ties, he looked better without them. And, at one point of his life he wanted to be a model and then a doctor.

Now, Kripa laughed as she walked on the beach, her heels dangling in her fingers as he held her close to him.

"You wanted to become a doctor? That's a joke, Angad, really. Doctor Angad Khanna." She calmed herself down when she found him frowning. "I mean," she cleared her throat. "Lets sit."

"Your dress with get sandy, Kripa."

"To hell with my dress." She dropped her very expensive shoes down to the sand and then fell herself, pulling Angad down beside her. "I rather sit here with you instead of worrying about his dress that I'm sure you wouldn't mind buying me again. A moment with you is priceless. This dress is merely a few hundred dollars. My husband, thankfully, can manage to lose that." She rested her head on his chest and held him.

"Now I was saying, you couldn't become a doctor because those poor ladies would have lost their heart at the handsome doctor anyways. You couldn't be the doctor who saves patients, rather you'd be the medicine one needed to lose themselves."

"Is it?" The breeze blew her hair into his face, it was enough for him to desire to take her away from here and hold her all night all. The lady was, at the moment, driving him mad. She had something in her, in her touch, that drove him half mad for her. Then she was laughing again. He realized, then, her laughter was music enough to his ears and he wanted that music to be playing all around him, forever. He wanted her around him, forever.

"Angad." She said shaking him lightly. "Are you angry?"

"Of course I'm not angry, I'm just listening to you."

"Oh, okay! Are there more races coming up this week?" She tilted her head up to the sky, so she could feel the breeze on her cheeks completely.

"Yes, two more this week." Her arms had loosened around him now and the warmth of her face against his neck was gone.

"That's fun!" She turned to looked at him. "Are you horses running?"

"Yes, Majesty is running." He took the ends of her hair to play with again.

"She ran good today. I like what you've named her too. She's a pretty mare and strong. Do you have a colt strong enough to breed her with, later?"

"I don't know Kripa." He pulled her into a hug again. "Just be quite for two minutes, just two minutes. That's all I need right now."

His arms were tight around her and passionate. She did as she was told, she kept quite for the time he needed her to be and allowed him to keep her, take her, where he wanted. She melted against him, skin and bone. She'd never realized his embrace could do this to her. Unable to understand her feeling, she remembered the last time someone had embraced her and made her feel like that. But then she also realized there wasn't anyone else. It had been him since she'd remembered what love was. As a young girl it was a crush, went deeper into love as she watched him grow up, as she grew up. Over the last seven months the love had started to go away, strangely. But the moment he'd embraced her coming back from Boston. His words, the feeling of missing her, had brought the love back. Now, in this embrace her love for him strengthened.

When he left her finally, she didn't know how long she been sitting in his arm, silently. She forgotten everything, being so close to him, she couldn't even hear the children screaming around her. If she could remember anything it was that she was being escorted into heaven and the rhythmic beats of his heart was the music that welcomed her into the beautiful place.

Even as his arms loosened around her, she stayed close to him. She couldn't go away, not now. The two minutes he'd asked her for weren't enough, for her or for him.

"We should get back, Angad." She pulled away finally, pushing her hair back from her face. "We have an early morning tomorrow as we have to view the venue." She slipped her feet back into her heels and walked away, her arms wrapped around her. His touch still lingered her body, she could still smell him. And, her own heart was beating dramatically in her ears. Their drive back home was silent.
