Bollywood Celebrates Modi's 75th Birthday
Part 20 " Tiwariji's compassion and understanding is heart-warming... having realised that Khushi is perturbed, he began humming verses from the Ramcharitmanas " his usual habit, I know " more than likely to calm Khushi. Those lines seem very apt for Arnav's and Khushi's current situation. "How can I bear this separation from you, my beloved? Why don't you appear before me, soon?" Lord Rama looked for Sita Maiyya and lamented her loss in such a manner, as though he were bereaved and totally lost in his love for his wife... here Lord Ram', especially, may be easily substituted with Arnav, without anything seeming out of place or contrived. Tiwariji's good natured grumbling at the prospect of losing such a good worker as Khushi hides his heart of gold. It gives him happiness that Khushi is returning to her husband, a decision that will bring the smile back to her face. He knows that, since separating from Arnav, Khushi has been going about her work with a heavy heart and that, most probably, her husband is in the same state. Khushi's words that Arnav would one day enter the temple and interact with Devi Maiyya, but that when that day dawns she wouldn't be around, have come true. Arnav trying to find solace in the same temple she did is a poignant moment: As he turned to leave again, he felt Devi Maiyya watching him... what a turnaround from a person who stayed away from rituals and spirituality. Previously, he was just ASR, now he is ASR, Khushi's husband... being associated with her is no longer a blot on his reputation! His one-sided convo with Devi Maiyya, and especially her reaction, or lack of it, is amusing: Devi Maiyya waited for him to get to the point. A very emotional appeal: " ... I mean, if you see her... if you talk to her... When she prays to you, can you just ask her to come back?" Arnav's casual manner of addressing the Mother Goddess reiterates the fact that he isn't someone in awe of the divine: "Bye. I will see you around. Just don't forget what I said."It is very much in keeping with his personality. In her dreams, Khushi listing their life-changing moments is quite moving as it makes her realise how much he loves her, despite often acting to the contrary: His eyes were shouting at her that he had kept her payal close to his heart while his mouth said something else... He was bandaging her finger at the temple... She was asking him, "Kya chahte hai aap?" and his eyes were telling her "You, only you..."... Khushi seems to have walked into the waking nightmare of Arnav leaving her behind: Khushi jumped up, looking around frantically for Arnavji, panting, sweating profusely. "Arnavji... Arnavji...," she whimpered. Where was he? Why had he left her all alone? She looked around. The room was unfamiliar to her. Where was the pool? His recliner? This... this was not RM. This was Varanasi... the person who was always there for her has seemingly abandoned her, and that terrifies her! Arnav's certainty that it is Khushi's phone call, and his near panic when she calls him up post midnight reveals their latent connection. Khushi's long suppressed pain, arising from that pre-kidnapping abandonment, and her current anguish at their separation have fused into one throbbing mass! "How can I not cry? You are far away from me. You are always far away from me... I keep looking for you, but I can't find you anywhere..." heartbreaking words! Khushi's desperation to see Arnav seems to have blinded her to the fact that two in the night isn't the safest time to be driving over long distances... nothing good comes of a sleep-deprived person driving a car. A truly bittersweet moment for him: Khushi is in tears and he isn't there in person to comfort her. Yet he is happy that Devi Maiyya has heeded his appeal and got Khushi to accept her love for him and to acknowledge that she can't be happy when away from him. "Khushi, your parents named you 'Khushi', hoping that you would be happy all your life, not just spread khushi in the lives of other people all your life. Remember that. Make sure that you are happy before making the world happy. If you are miserable, but keep smiling and hiding your misery, you are not doing anybody a favour. Samjhi tum? If you hide your pain, no one will know that you are unhappy. People will take you and your feelings for granted. They will take advantage of you, and you will be powerless to stop them once you fall into that habit." Girija Devi has hit the nail squarely on the head! She is right to point out to Khushi the folly of silently hiding her pain. Her gentle humour must have been like a soothing balm to Khushi's hurting and troubled soul. The doors to her own heart will always remain open for Khushi just like the gates to her institution are: "If you find it impossible to live in the normal world, if you need refuge at any point in your life, Khushi, the gates of this school will be open to you, always," the lady reassured her, patting her back.
Touching of Khushi to inform Tiwariji of her imminent departure and to apologise to him for having inconvenienced him. Despite being a brahmachari, disinterested in the marital state, he knows that Arnav and Khushi belong together, just like Ram and Sita! The jalebi qas a thoughtful gift. One of the ladies who worked as a cleaner walked into the kitchen at that moment, and fainted at the sight of khadoos, akdoo Tiwariji being hugged by a girl... hilarious! Khushi rushing into Arnav's arms and he holding her against his heart is a poignant and beautiful moment, clearly indicating how much each missed the other... she reproaching him for not having looked after himself, weeping all over him and covering him with kisses is endearing! They are finally in each other's arms, exactly where they belong!
Part 21 " Their relief and happiness at finally being together, without the spectre of any future separation hovering over them, is palpable: He stole frequent looks at her, unable to believe that she was with him, forever. Khushi smiled and touched his thigh or held his hand when he could spare it. She finally lets go of her inhibitions and touches her to her heart's content... it's almost as if, if she doesn't do so, he would disappear... she needs to keep him anchored to her, for her own peace of mind. Khushi is finally at peace and able to enjoy the simple pleasures of life with her Arnavji. Just a glimpse of his wife and he's overcome with desire! Smita, was Arnav wearing a coat over his jacket? That part was a bit confusing: he had put his coat over Khushi, but later she clutches his jacket lapel! The whole foreplay and lovemaking scene is quite sensuous... Arnav's playfulness is quite endearing: "Khushi, remove my jacket, please?" he invited her in a whisper. "Or I will fall ill." He convinced her that shedding clothes, especially wet ones, was conducive to health. That each desires the other desperately adds another dimension to their relationship: Her innocent but greedy eyes were more potent than the lures of sirens of yore. Their admission of love and inability to exist without each other are very moving. He scooped her up in his arms, carefully, as though she were his treasure, and carried her to the bed... nice blend of gentle love and burning desire! Arnav is right about that red nightgown being superfluous! Khushi coiled her arms around the strong neck of her husband, looking up at his strong face, knowing that she had finally come home, that her home was with and in Arnavji, wherever he was... beautifully put!
