Semanti, congrats on the new thread!
Lavanya and Arnav giving Akash conflicting advice, then Arnav tuning out of the convo because he's lost in thoughts of Khushi was a nice start to the update... Akash has a point: no use pursuing a person who's not interested in you... can't blame Payal either: when you are nursing a broken heart, I doubt if you would want another guy making up to you. Maybe, if Akash stops trying so hard and is just his natural self around Payal, things might progress toward friendship and, god willing, to something deeper. Akash snorted. "God, stop making me sound like a lovesick girl." Arnav scratched his head innocently. "I hate to break it to you, bro, but you kind of do. Without us trying." That's funny! Endearing to note Arnav admitting to himself that he enjoyed Khushi's company as well as their intellectual debates, and that the thought of losing that camaraderie doesn't sit well with him! This is what came of not dating anyone for so long... He'd learned the hard way that exploring 'what-if's' was never a good idea... this begs the question as to why he had foregone dating, and also what in his past left him with regrets. She'd said that it would freak her out if they started sparkling, much to NK's embarrassment, and the confusion of the other three... that was quite cheeky of Khushi! NK feeling petrified of Khushi's wit and of-the-cuff remarks derailing his romance with Lavanya is cute. It is fascinating how Khushi manages to turn every conversation into a philosophical discussion. NK skidaddling the moment he hears that Lavanya is relatively alone is pretty funny... all the same, heart-warming to note that he still spends ample time with Khushi so that their friendship doesn't suffer. Khushi, distracted by Arnav's cologne and not wanting to discuss her knowledge of love, trying to change the subject makes one crack a smile. Question: how is it that so much conversation flows at Khushi's table? Isn't one supposed to maintain silence in a library? I need to talk while I make notes... wow, that some talent... if I were in her shoes, I would have messed up both the notes and the convo! Khushi shrugged. "Out of a sense of obligation? To please your dad?" Personal experience speaking: her dad is mad at her for not doing what he wanted... sadly, parents forcing their own opinions or dreams on their kids is quite common often resulting in resentment and unhappiness in the long run. Given how easy-going and broadminded Arnav's parents are, it is to be expected that they wouldn't force their choices on their son... that he is happy with his choice and is looking forward to the challenge of running his dad's company is good. Khushi's explanation about Art History is quite interesting and something I can relate to. While I disliked studying History, as such, I didn't mind reading about the society and customs of bygone ages. Maybe, that's why historical romances are one of my favourite genres. A very apt description: He was doing that earnest-stare thing again! This is getting interesting: both Arnav and Khushi feeling the stirrings of attraction and confused as to how to deal with these inconvenient feelings... each is more scared of losing the other's companionship so is treading carefully so as not to rock the boat! In Khushi's case, things are more complicated as her father is disappointed in her... imagine what his reaction will be if she brings home a boyfriend, even if it is to meet her parents!
