When you named the second part of your story 'Day 12', I wondered if you directly jumped to the final day… but then, this is supposed to be a countdown isn't it? Hopefully, Arnav will experience at least an iota of the torment that Khushi went through all these months, for no fault of hers… his panic softening to relief on noticing her abed, and not missing from Shantivan is such a contrast to her fear and desperation when he was kidnapped. Shyam had manipulated him, turned him against Khushi… reminds me of all those serials and films where the son blissfully turns a blind eye to the vampish daughter-in-law's manipulative ways and then when everything is revealed, slaps her, merrily blames her of having led him astray! The so-called shrewd businessman never even bothered to get things investigated… he just listened to his cheating brother-in-law who was more 'trustworthy' than the girl he supposedly loved! He has admitted at least to himself that the thought of having lost Khushi to Shyam
cut him to the quick more than the realisation of his sister's suffering… his ego had a part to play in the punishment he meted out to Khushi. Glad to note that Arnav has realised that his actions were in a way instrumental in Shyam meeting Khushi, from whence things snowballed… if he wants to blame anyone else apart from Shyam for the mess he and his family find themselves in now, then he should blame himself! Arnav Singh Raizada was Arnav's worst enemy, he realised at that moment… well said! As Arnav reminisces over the times — both good and bad — he spent with Khushi, we also become nostalgic. … She had buried her face in her hands in shame at what they had done that night. She had known how disappointed her family would be in her, how furious his family would be, how unhappy all would be… He had not been bothered by their tears and complaints, only by the blow that Amma had given Khushi… That is the basic difference between the two: Khushi's love and concern encompasses many while Arnav focuses on one, first his sister, then later, Khushi. They had punished her for a crime that had not been hers, but his… he got off scot-free… well, hope he has the integrity to confess to both the families that he was the one who coerced Khushi into marriage and that, too, a contract one! A girl with less spunk would have gone under. But not his Khushi. She had bounced back, matching him word for word, action for action… but it took a toll on her, and she is still paying for another's sin! Six months of living in the same room as her, trying to hate her and failing, enjoying the tricks she played on him, pining for her as she lay on the bed and he lay on the recliner night after night, trying hard to douse the flame of love in their hearts and failing… that he was in his own personal hell during those six months in no way mitigates what he did to Khushi… I don't sympathise with him! If she had dared him to do his worst and tried to march out of Shantivan, he would have been stumped… wish she had done just that! They had been given a second chance to live. Together. And he was no fool to let it go. Or to sit and watch Khushi let it go. Not for Di. Not for his family. Not for anybody… pleased to see that Arnav's got his priorities straight! He learning to think with his heart, by allowing himself to show his love for Khushi, and indulge in the guilty pleasure of touching and kissing her, was pretty moving! She scrambled off the bed and moved towards the bathroom. Arnav let her go… hope he'll let her go if she decides to leave him at the end of twelve days! And all the pictures blended seamlessly with the story.
