Hello everyone😛
First of all thank you sooo much for your positive replies,
Life itself had become a burden for him. The only short hours he enjoyed were at hospital, while saving his patients life..while bringing smile on the kids face.
After his shifts, he would automatically metamorphose into someone else. It wasn't that often for him to end his shift early, his duty usually ended at nights, and once over, he wouldn't directly go home..not before doing what he did for the past eight months now...
Almost like every night after his work, he drove to this bar to have a drink. Not one or two to distress after a tough day at hospital. Like always, tonight also he sat at his usual isolated place and started drinking in silence..without talking or looking at anyone. He just sat there drinking as much as he could and ended up forgetting his own identity.
All he wanted was to drown his pain. It didn't work though..another lie people say and you dumbly believe. At around 2 am, when he was fully drunk, he paid the bartender leaving a generous tip, he took a cab like a responsible man and went home.
He entered the house without making any noise as his mother was sleeping already. He headed toward the kitchen to have a cold glass of water and calm his burning thirst.
Before going to his room, like every night he checked on his mom. Slightly opening the door he peeped inside and found her sleeping peacefully..at least that's what he thought. Then slowly closing the door he headed in his room.
Throwing his jacket on the chair, his car keys and phone on the side table, he crushed on his bed.
Every night in her room, Mrs Modi waited for her son watching through the window fearing the worse. But once she noticed the lights of the cab or his own car and the sight of Sid, she sighed in relief and rushed to her bed pretending to sleep as she knew he would check on her, so he does not doubt anything. Once the door closed, she opened her teary eyes. She was helpless, as much as she wanted she unfortunately couldn't help her son. She witnessed
the metamorphose of her son. From the carefree, fun loving and always smiling boy, he had become that lifeless, quite and serious man. All she could do was pray and hope..hope for someone to enter his life and save him from the dark…

It was 7:30 and Sid was already up and ready to attack a new day full of work. A cold shower and a good mug of black and bitter coffee were his weapons against the morning hangover. Grabbing his keys as he knew the driver had already brought the car and his phone from where he left them, he rushed down and was about to leave when the voice of his mother stopped him.
Mrs Modi: where are you going without even meeting your mom? (he turned back)
Sid: hospital mom..I'm getting late
Mrs Modi: and what about the breakfast?
Sid: mom main kuch hospital mein kha lunga (she mad a sad face)
Mrs Modi: beta ab tumhare pass 10 minutes bhi nahin hai apni iss budi maa ke saath nashta karne ke liye? (emotional blackmail he thought. She knew if nothing else this will definitely work on him so he sighed giving up)
Sid: alright..but only 10 minutes.
He followed her at the dinning table and served himself another cup of coffee. But Mrs Modi did not let him drink the bitter coffee with an empty stomach. She spread a toast with butter and jam and offered it to her son.
Sid: thanks but I'm not hungry
Mrs Modi: Siddhant…(she raised her brow and without arguing further he took and bite a tiny morsel) beta you work so much that you don't even eat properly..just look at you you've lost so much weight…you leave so early in the morning and come back so late..main iss hospital se complain karne vali hoon haan! (she firmly said)
Sid: mom I have so much work to do I'm a senior Doctor now..and last week a colleague shifted to another city so I have to handle her patients too now
Mrs Modi: arre! (she looked at him in disbelief) can't they hire another Doctor? Kitne khanjoos hai yeh log ab mere bete ke jaan ki peeche pade hain muft kam karvane ki chakkar mein! (if she wasn't looking at her son so closely she would have missed the slight smile his lips formed)
Sid: they are looking for someone…but they cannot hire anyone mom they want the best (she sighed)
Mrs Modi: theek hai but beta why don't you take a few days off after this problem is solved?
Sid: why would I do that? ek tho hospital mein bohut kam hai and then I don't want to
Mrs Modi: Sid you are working non stop what about your life?
Sid: this is my life now mom and I'm happy with it (he checked his watched and stood up) I'm should go now I'm getting late
Mrs Modi: but beta...(before she could say anything he dropped a kiss on her forehead and left. She just watched him leave unhappy)

After the lunch break, Sid had a free time so decided to visit the kids in children ward. He played with them for a while and the little patients loved spending time with their favourite Doctor. When Sid was with them, he had the ease to make them happy with simple gestures to the extent to make them forget that they were hospitalized and ill.
There was a nurse in her late fifties in the hospital who loved Siddhant like her own son. Even thought he never told her about his problems, she knew he was going through a very bad phase of his life, she could see it in his eyes as they spoke volumes without his own knowledge. She always tried to bring positivity in his life and Sid was very close to her.
She saw him in the children ward and smiled at the fact that how he always managed to make everyone happy...everyone except himself..it was as if he had forgotten his own existence.
Looking up at the shadow near the door, Sid smiled seeing her.
Sid: okay bacha party (putting down the kid in his arms) tum log khelo I'll be right back (he walked toward the lady) hello Jaya aunty
Nurse: good afternoon son..I hope I'm not disturbing my favourite Doctor
Sid: you never disturb me aunty..I was just playing with the kids
Nurse: I saw (she smiled) and I must say every time you are around these kids not only the hospital sounds lively but you also look different..you look alive my son (he slightly smiled)
Sid: I guess it's their innocence
Nurse: my child I know that you always try to look what you're not and there must be an ugly reason behind, but I'm sure your life is about to change soon..someone will come and make those changes (his lips curved and slightly laughed)
Sid: here we go again aunty..it's been a few months now you keep saying this to me..but believe me I'm fine I don't need changes or anyone in my life...
Nurse: you do...you don't know yet but you do..every body does and I know a person will soon make it happen..
She caressed his cheek and left, leaving behind her a confused and wondering man. Why was she so sure something as such will happen to him when he himself did not expect or hope for anything? He kept himself away from everyone to avoid any profound feelings. The only person he ever wanted wasn't his anymore. He loved her with no limits, sacrificed his life for her, put her before everything and anyone...he couldn't bear a single tear in her eyes and his unconditional love and selflessness forced him to let her go towards her real happiness…Armaan...
And what he got in return was this constant pain in his chest and a heart broken into thousand pieces. So no, he did not want anyone to enter his life again nor did he have the strength and courage to walk toward that path.
But little did he know that destiny wasn't working according to his will, life's most unpredictable thing has already made its first move and was about to make the second one and he wasn't aware of anything…
Love and Luck to All
