Chapter 2

A few kilometres away from his dark world, lived that person who was about to change his life and in process her own. She lived a very warm-hearted domicile. A beautiful white house, with a red door. The outside was decorated with flowers along each side of the house.

She shifted in Delhi a month ago, once again running away from the place that had nothing else to offer but pain.

She never had an easy life..her parents died when she was just a kid, she has a sister who don't know or don't want to know about her existence. And a few months ago destiny again played with her life, taking from her the only family she had...her Maasi. She grew up in an orphanage in Panchgani and the day she met the place's owner she became her family..her Maasi..but once again life couldn't see her happy for long and hit her with the worst tragedy that existed. And after she passed away, the orphanage, Panchgani..everything kept reminder her of her Maasi, so she decided to leave everything and run away from the pain just like she ran away from Mumbai..and him...

Today she had an appointment for a job and she was getting late. And to add to that a little someone wasn't making things easier for her..

Shona? (called out the melodious voice) beta hurry up breakfast is ready

An adorable little girl in her school white and grey uniform, her long hair tied in two pigtails ran towards the woman standing near the table, a bright smile on her face and opening her arms to take her in her embrace. The kid hugged her tight and kissed her cheek.

Shona: Goodmolning Shilpa Massi (she happily said with her cute "r" pronunciation problem)

Shilpa: Goodmorning angel (she helped her sit on her chair and hugged her from behind again) how is world's most beautiful girl? Excited for school? Aaj apka pehla din hai naa

Shona: yeah! (she shouted excited. Priya, Shona's nanny and the household brought her a glass of milk)

Priya: and here is your milk (she smiled)

Shona: thank you Pliya didi (she politely replied and started to eat her breakfast)

A week after Shilpa came back to Panchgani, she found Shona at the orphanage doorstep and decided to take care of her. She loved all the kids there but something always pulled her toward that kid. Even Shona fell in love with Shilpa the minute she talked to her, so spent all her time with her. And just like the lady of the orphanage became Shilpa's Maasi, Shilpa became hers. And when Shilpa left Panchgani, she took Shona with her and took all the responsibility of her education.

Shona became the new reason of her life, her hard work and she was grateful to God for sending one of his angels in her life.

After the breakfast was done, Shona ran in her room to take her school bag and rushed back to Shilpa's car and they left.

After a while they reached her school. Shilpa got out of the car and then helped the little girl and they walked toward the school gate where the teacher was already waiting. Shilpa kneeled down and rested her hand on her cheek.

Shilpa: be a good girl okay (she nodded) and make new friends

Shona: and what if nobody wants to be my fliend? (she slightly titled her head to the right side)

Shilpa: arre how is that possible? (making a cute shocked expression to make shona smile) everybody wants to be your friend..you know why?

Shona: because I'm the best (she confidently said showing her maasi a thumbs up)

Shilpa: yes! (she smiled rubbing her nose against hers) okay ab aap jao teacher wait kar rahi hai aur Maasi ko bhi appointment ke liye jaana hai..and Priya didi will pick you up after school okay?

Shona: okay (she shook her head)

Shilpa: okay now give me a good luck hug then go

She hugged her tight then ran toward the teacher, who gave Shilpa a warm smile. Watching them leave, Shilpa rushed to her car and left for her appointment.

Sid was walking in the corridors, focused on a file in his hands, reading the reports of his patient carefully. His feet stop working as he got distracted by something..a voice. A very familiar voice was ringing in his ears few steps away. He looked up from his file but couldn't see anyone..except the receptionist, talking to someone and he could bet the voice belonged to the person with her. So he started to slowly walk again, anticipating his reaction if it actually was her. He was almost there..a thousand questions already formed in his mind. He was at the reception area now and to his surprise it was a man who was talking to the receptionist..he frowned confused and looked around and spotted a girl from back walking toward the exit of the hospital. Not very tall, wearing a light pink kameez, her long dark hair reaching her waist. She raised her hand and moved a strand of her hair and he noticed a silver bracelet around her wrist with a diamond pendant shining with a ray of the sun..one letter. He kept looking at her for a moment but realising how crazy he sounded to himself, he shook his head and went to his cabin.

After the receptionist gave her all the information she needed, Shilpa politely thanked her with her warm smile and headed toward the exit. As many people were entering and leaving the hospital a slight wind hit her face and a strand of her hair covered her eye so she moved it backward. When she reached the exit, a strange sensation of being watched hit her mind so she stopped. She was sure someone's eyes were on her so slowly turned around, but all she could see was that receptionist busy with a man and the back of a tall male Doctor, who was leaving holding a file in his hands. She sighed and left the hospital.

Reading the same file again and again, Sid couldn't concentrate on his work. He was still thinking about that voice..out of all the people he knew and voices he could remember, he never thought he would have the impression to hear Shilpa's voice. It's been more than a year that he had talked to her last, how could he so perfectly remember how her voice sounded. With time he has started to forget the proper sound of Riddhima's voice so how was it possible for him to remember hers...Now that he was thinking about her, he realised that he really missed her..her jovial presence, her support when he was at his worst..she had become a very good friend but unfortunately became the patsy of his brother..his friend Armaan..and had no choice but leave the place. He really hoped she was over it and over Armaan because Armaan and Riddhima's name could only give pain and nothing else. Brushing all his thoughts aside, he focused back on his file determinate to read.

The dark and the silence were ruling at Malhotra house at this time of the night. While Shona was in her fairytale's dreams, Shilpa was thinking about the nightmares of her life...standing near the bay window of her room, her arms crossed, she was admiring the crescent in the sky, which was slightly enlightening her face. She was searching for something...most probably the answers to the thousand questions running in her mind. In one year, she changed city three times, and every time it was for the same reason..run away from pain and sorrow, but it was useless because it never worked. No matter how far you run, the pain will follow you...follow you till it sucks all the strength out of you, till it destroys you from inside not sparing a tiny part in your body..and if you're lucky enough it might leave you once you are lifeless otherwise it will chase you till your grave.

Even though Shilpa was a fighter, even though she stood up when life knocked her down again and again, the war gifted her the memories of her misery...the scars...

One of those scars was named Armaan Malik...yes, despite the fact that she did not spend much time with him, that she did not get to know him well, she had the naivety to fall in love..

Of course it was something unexpected that ended before even starting and it wasn't the worst part of it. But being used by someone who wanted to conquer someone else was..that someone being her own sister was..playing with her pure and honest feelings was..

If she could she would rectify her mistake and never fall for someone like Armaan Malik.

He used her again and again to get Riddhima..made a joke of her feelings, considered her like a toy and played with till he got bored of and broke it into pieces...His one mistake not only broke her heart, but also broke her self-confidence, her self-trust. When someone might use her by pure egoism was her constant fear. This was one of the uncountable scars life gifted her..this was one the scars Armaan gifted her...
