There is an old Mani Ratham movie, I am sure you have seen it "Mouna Raagam [Silent Symphony]" it dealt with the intricacies of relationships well and that of a forced marriage beautifully. This is another such story which captures the nuances of life in its barest and most vulnerable form. I could relate to every single one on your characters, I have seen them as a cousin, uncle or grandparent. Indulgent to a fault and interfering beyond reason, that is family and that is life.
Arnav is believable here because he is flawed and I have met more people like him than any other kind. He is ambitious, driven and determined to do whatever it takes to achieve success in his life. His view and take on his personal life should not be faulted. He made a choice, given that he was emotionally blackmailed to it but he did make one and stood up like a man to face the consequences when things went wrong. Not many are able to see themselves as anything less than perfect and Arnav had the guts to deal with his insecurities and faults realizing it would do him good. I like Arnav in all stories and am partial to this guy for the simple reason, I wanted to give him another chance and he made my decision a good one at the end.
Khushi is not your regular doormat, as we see in most cases especially in the serial we all are so addicted to. Her focus on her life is noteworthy and her willingness to stand up for herself is laudable. She has suffered and yet that suffering has not left her a bitter and hardened human, I was happy to see her give Arnav a chance not because she was married to him but she wanted to give herself another chance, again she proved that her silent strength did help her achieve what she wanted from life, acceptance and love. She got that form everyone in the end and on her terms, which made the deal all the more sweet.
It was wonderful to read the way they dealt with their lives together and made a marriage out of their wedding. Arnav and Khushi became a couple after dealing with their individual and collective issues to be happy now. I am sure the path is not going to be hurdle free; at least they have each other to overcome those very hurdles.
A wonderful story NB and beautifully written, please accept my apologies for being this late to party, my loss entirely. I wish you get more time to sleep well, play more with you little one and most importantly write for us to enjoy a slice of life that tastes wonderful; with the right amount of sweet, salt, and sour.
Thanks again.
