Chapter 22:

Taani read the message and smiled slightly. She sighted, last night would be nightmare to her if she was at home all alone. If Rey didn't come here, she could have panicked after seeing those news channels. She remembered , how Rey comforted her. Maybe, she was too busy in crying. But, right now she can remember and think properly. She sat on couch, leaned her back on back rest. She remembered the last night's most special moment. She still have doubt that she actually heard it or not? Her heart flutters whenever she remembered that beautiful moment. But, still her mind was telling her that it was delusion. She couldn't even remember when she fall sleep. Then, how can she be sure, that he said it? But, she actually felt his lips on her forehead. At that time, he said those words to her. May be she can't trust what she heard by her ears. But, when he leaned to kiss her on her forehead, she felt his warmth surrounded her. When he kissed her on forehead, her heart actually skipped a beat. She was sleepy, not fully slept. It can't be delusion. She heard him right. She was more surprised, when she whispered him, I love you too. But, before that he was gone. Her eyes were not completely closed. She saw him closing the door. She smiled to himself.

In many ways, he made her feel special. He actually cared for her. In Shimala, he protected her from Rahul. Even, he broke the connection between them. He respected her. He even was there when she needed someone. He was the perfect definition of gentleman. Yet, he actually annoyed her also. But, she can't deny that sometime she provoked him. She was surely in love with him.

But, again she frowned. Situation was so much mess. They had so many things to handle. And, she don't know, what she is going to do? She has a feeling for him. But, she can't tell him. Gold digger and don't know what, people will call her. Already, Rey is flashing in Tabloids because of her. Yes, Rey told her that it was not her fault. But, she can't accept it. It was also her mistake. She just don't know, how to react? She knew, she is not good for him, for his reputation. She shook her head. "I can't do this. I have to control myself. I can't." She was going to ignore her feelings. Yes, she was going to ignore. Taani decided to get ready. She ate some fruits and did her morning routines. She chose her clothes and got ready. Soon, she heard car's horn. She locked her apartment and hopped in car.

Taani pressed the button and lift flew up to the floor. As soon as she entered on the floor. She spotted Steve talking with his secretary. He looked up and smiled at Taani warmly. Steve was in his 50s. Rey and He share very good bond. He walked to Taani and greeted her good morning.

"How's you doing? " He asked. Taani just nodded and Steve smiled.

"Well, let me tell you. Since, for some months you and your boss, Rey will be working here. Your desk is in Rey's cabin. We decide something, so call Rey immediately to my office. I want to talk to you both." He told her. She nodded and walked towards Rey's cabin. She knocked the on the door softly. But, door was not locked so, it started opening as Taani knocked on it. Taani found it weird. Since, the door was already open, she stepped in. She looked up.

What she saw not at all good according to her. Rey was actually hugging a girl. He was smiling with closed eyes. Since, her face was hide due to his body. Taani couldn't see her face. Rey's arms were around her waist.The sight in front of her actually squeezed her heart painfully. She wanted to go there and rip them off from each other.She bite her lips and cleared her throat. Rey opened her eyes and pulled away. Taani looked here and there, uncomfortably. She dared to look up. She studied the girl who was standing besides Rey. She had gorgeous face, her figure was amazing. She had wore pencil skirt which showing her perfect slender long legs. She was flawless woman. She looked at Rey and Then, at the girl. They fit perfect for each other. Taani shook her head in her mind and came out of her world.

" I am sorry, if I disturbed something." Taani said. Rey looked at her surprisingly. "Not at all, Taani." He told her. She merely nodded. The girl grinned at Taani. "You must be Taani?, Right?" That girl asked, Taani nodded calmly.

"I am Maya. Maya Rai. Nice to meet you." Maya walked towards her and offered a shake-hand. Taani forced a smile on her face and accepted the shake-hand. According to Taani, Maya was perfect. Rey and She can make a good couple. That thought made her sick. "Well, right now, I have to go. I will see you later." Maya told Taani and walked towards Rey. She pecked on his cheek and whispered something in his ear. Taani looked away. Maya turned to her and smiled.

She kissed on his cheek? Seriously?? First, she was hugging like her life depends on him and now, kiss on her cheek. Taani clutched her fist, her nails were digging into her skin. But, she didn't care about it.

"I will see you in conference, Reeyu!" Maya winked at him. Taani snapped her eyes at Maya. Reeyu?

Reeyu? The way she pronounced it, Taani had to hide her expression. He is not of course 3years old child. Taani looked at Rey, he just smiled at him. "If I call him Khadoos, jo ki woh hain, Then he has problem with it. But, if Maya calls him "Reeyu!" then he is giving her his stupid smile." Taani hissed in her mind.

Soon, Maya walked past her and left Rey's cabin. Taani sighted in relief.

Rey looked at Taani. She was much better than last night. He smiled at her, she smiled back but, it didn't reach to her eyes. She turned and placed her bag on her desk. Before, he could start a conversation.

"Umm..Steve wants to meet both of us. He told me to meet him immediately. " Taani informed him.

Rey suspected the strange behavior of Taani. She was acting a bit weird. May be, still she is depressed about the matter. After all, she also need some time. He decided to not to talk about it. He nodded.

"Taani..." He called her. She didn't know what to do. She looked at him," Steve said, it's urgent. Make it fast." With that she stormed out of the cabin. Rey stood there blankly and then chuckled. He shook his head at her weirdness.

Rey entered in Steve's cabin without knocking. Taani and Steve were already seated. Steve glared at him. Rey smirked and rolled his eyes. He took a chair beside Taani to sit. Taani didn't look at him. She was focusing on Steve. Rey raised an eyebrow but, shrugged it. Steve cleared his throat. He looked at Rey and nodded and then he looked at Taani.

"Well. You both know, in what mess we are right now. I am finding the culprit. But, press is the main problem. I can't handle two things at a time. We need to calm down the press. For that, we have to pretend that nothing happened. That means, we will be working regularly. Right now, I have cancelled all the meeting and re-arranged it. You both are going to Banglore." Taani became tense as Steve mentioned Banglore. She is now conscious, going in public. Rey must have seen her tense shoulders. He stopped Steve. Taani looked at him. " Taani, Steve has managed everything. We don't want to face public much. In case, if anything happen, I will be there with you." He told her. She nodded. She was not bit relaxed. He actually made promise for the second time.

"I will never leave you." " I will be there for you." Her heart actually skipped a beat. Taani, concentrate!

Steve nodded and continued, "Some of trusted people are going to accompany you. They will handle if anything happen there. Otherwise, I am here, also." He reassured Taani. Steve gave them some more instruction about this Banglore business trip.

"Oh and You two have to attend a conference in 3 hours. Some old and new unions are coming. Just a introduction and all. Nonthing much. Just go through the document once. For your help, Maya will help you." Steve glanced at Rey and smiled. As soon as, Maya was mentioned, Taani looked up.

"Maya?" Taani asked. She hoped, Steve could tell her about Maya. She was curious to know about her. But, Rey cut her.
"Yes Taani, You met her just before few mins in my cabin. Maya Rai." He told her. Yes, I met her in your cabin, in your arms. She thought bitterly in her mind. She remembered the way, Maya called Rey as Reeyu. She clutched her fist.

"Back to earth ,Taani!" He shook her shoulder and she looked at him with startled expression. She bite her lips nervously. Rey noticed it.

"Is everything okay, Taani?" Rey asked her. Taani quickly shook her head, " Everything is fine." Steve was already gone. She stood up, Rey copied her. " I think we should look, conference." Taani suggested and Rey nodded.

Taani was highly irritated. Maya, She and Rey were sitting in Rey's cabin. Maya was talking and talking and talking. She was here for help not for giggling and laughing with Rey. Can't she just keep her hands to herself? Every now and then, she is either touching his arm or pinching his cheek. Taani screamed in her mind. It was annoying her to the death. Who the hell is she? She looked at Rey. He was smiling or just nodding in response to Maya. He seemed little bit annoyed with her. Little bit? That's it?

Maya was surely not an employee. Her body language, attitude was different. It was sure that she was born with gold spoon in her mouth. Taani was also not poor. She had pop-star Bhai who is in Canada. Her Mom and Dad are not in contact with their children. She chose to do with her abilities. She looked at Maya. Maya seemed close to Rey. She was curious about her. She wanted to know more about her. The girl who call Reeyu to Rey. The CEO of RS industries. She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Rey calling her name. She looked at him with confusion.

"Taani.. What's wrong? This is the second time..I am calling you back to earth." He asked with concern. She shook his head. She quickly threw an excuse, " I was thinking about conference." Rey and Maya shared a look with each other. Rey sighted. "Well, please pass me that file."

Taani raised an eyebrow, she took that file and handed to him. "Please, eh?" She mumbled, Rey heard it. Taani remembered how she annoyed him in cabin while they were at Shimala. Rey chuckled and took file from her, " Tomato!" He murmured under his breath. He remembered her cute face when she stormed out of cabin in shimala and then got stucked into another cabin due to snow. She had almost gave him heart-attack. At that time, he was panicked. He couldn't imagine, she being in danger. He snapped out when Maya pinched him and he glared at her.

Taani saw the way Maya pinched him. Can't she just keep some distance? They were looking like a cute couple. She tapped her fingers on file furiously. She needed to stop being jealous. She needed to stop thinking about him. It was for his own good. Suddenly, she stood up. Rey and Maya both looked at her.

" I am getting a coffee. Want it?" She directed her question towards Rey. Before, Rey could even open his mouth.

"Wonderful. I am tired by helping. For me too." Maya grinned widely. Rey just rolled his eyes. Taani was urging to roll her eyes. "Helping??? When the hell did she do it?" Taani cursed in her mind. She huffed and walked out of cabin.

Taani placed her mug on desk and started her work again. Maya was still talking with Rey about her Paris tour. She did her best to ignore her.

"Taani, are you always like this quiet?" Maya asked. Rey chuckled. "Trust me. When she start talking, you can't control her. She will annoy to hell." Maya chuckled.

Taani glared at Rey. " I don't make annoy people everytime. Okay?" Rey chuckled and shook his head.

"Nope! You always make me annoyed. Kitna baat karti hon tum? Sometimes, I have to take medicines to get rid of headache." Taani looked at him with anger.

" What the hell, for the 2 hours, his perfect Maya is blabbering..that didn't cause him headache. And, If I talk little, he get headache." Taani thought. Taani snatched her cup from the table and accidently some of the coffee fall on her cream-colored shirt and pant.

"Shit!" Taani heard Rey's curse. Her shirt was ruined. The coffee's color was more highlighting on the cream-color background. Taani glanced at clock, in few minutes conference will get start.

"Maya, I am sure. You have some clothes.?" Rey turned to Maya. Maya nodded and took her car key and left cabin.

Taani bit her lip. It was her luck that coffee didn't spilled on papers. She looked up to Rey. He was checking the time.

"Rey, you go and attend the conference. I will be there on time. Someone has to be there with them."Taani suggested Rey.

"Are you sure??" Rey asked. Taani nodded. She was actually right. He jogged to the conference room. In few minutes, Maya came back with some clothes. She handed it to Taani. Taani looked at those clothes and gulped. "Don't mind, but you have pant or?" Taani asked, Maya shook her head. Taani sighted. She had no choice.

Taani knocked on the door of conference room. She heard, "Come in." Taani entered in room. She greeted everyone. Rey didn't look up as he was looking in some files. "My secretary will distribute the RS Industries's data." Taani gulped and started distributing. She was uncomfortable with her clothing. It was short gray pencil skirt which was hardly reaching till her kness, sleeveless pink blouse. She was finally done with distributing. She took a chair besides Rey and quickly sat down. In conference, some people were in their 60s, some were same age as Rey's. She could feel some perverted people had their eyes on her. Some were decent, they didn't even look at her. Rey finally looked up and found that some people were looking particular towards his left side. He knew Taani was seated there. He looked towards Taani. Since, she was sitting near him, he could see what she was wearing. His possessive side kicked in. He glanced towards all the people. He cleared his throat to get their attention. He glared at some of them. "We are here to discuss." Rey warned them. All people focused on him.

The conference started. Taani could feel Rey was looking at her in between. She didn't dare to look at him. The last presentation was left. Taani had to give it to them. She was about to stand. But, Rey stopped her.

"Don't you dare to stand. I will handle the presentation." Rey whispered to her. Taani did what she was told. She spotted Maya, smirking at her. She looked away and focused on presentation. In some hours, presentation was finished. Rey quickly made his way towards Taani and stood beside her. People were having small conversation between them. Soon, people faded away. Maya was not around. Only Taani and Rey were there.

Taani turned to switch off the laptop. But, Rey quickly stood in front of her. His arms were crossed across his chest. "What the hell you are wearing??" He asked harshly.

"I didn't have any choice. Maya had only this pair." Taani explained him. Rey narrowed her eyes. "Do you know, how people were looking at you? Look Taani, I am not against of wearing such type of dresses. I just don't want people to look at you in any other way. They were checking you out. I didn't like it at all. You shouldn't have came to conference." Rey told her.

"What? Rey, this is my responsibility as a secretary." Taani explained him. " I don't care about responsibility. I would have managed."

Now, this was going out of control. He was acting like an insane. "Rey, dekha jaye toh this is formal corporate dress. What's wrong with it?" Taani asked him. "Besides, Maya was wearing the same. Why didn't you freaked out on her. People were looking at her also." Taani asked.

"Look Taani, Maya is a different case. She can handle it." He paused. He knew, he was making an issue.

"Different case?? If she can handle, I can also." Taani raised her eyebrow. "Look Rey, you protected me from Rahul. Thanks a lot for that. But, don't think that I am a weak woman. Last night, I lost myself. That doesn't mean I can't handle it. I am grateful that you comforted me. But, don't think, I am weak." She said it firmly.

Rey sighted, "Look Taani, I didn't mean like that. It was just I couldn't control that people were looking at you like that. I know you are a smart and confident woman. I don't think like that. I know, you are strong and more mature than me." He said, calmly. Taani sighted and turned, walked towards window.

Rey knew, she was upset. He didn't mean it like that. She took it in wrong way. He stood behind her. "Look Taani, I didn't mean it like that. I just lost it. Okay? I am sorry." He apologized. She didn't respond. He waited for her to speak something, but she didn't. She just stepped a side and was about to walk away. But, Rey held her wrist tightly in his hand. She stopped in her track. She looked back with stern face. She tried to move forward. But, couldn't. He pulled her back, in front of her.

She looked up at him. She actually felt like she is small in front of him. He was hovering over her. He leaned more and her breath caught in her throat, he took strand behind her ear and whispered in her ear, " I said, I am sorry. Apology accepted?"

His breath was playing on the side of her face. Shiver ran down on her spine. "Hmm??" He asked softly. She gulped and just nodded her head. "Thanks." He murmured. He came back, face to face. He smiled at her. She felt butterfly fluttering in her stomach.

The distance between them was so much less. Taani heard a knock on the door. She looked at Rey. He seemed didn't notice the knock. He was studying every inch of her face. She cleared her throat and took some steps back. "Rey, answer the knock." She said softly. Rey looked at her and blinked his eyes, "Huh??" Once he recalled her words, he nodded and stood straight and cleared his throat. "Come in."

Maya came in with a grin on her face. Rey turned to face her. "That was close dude." Rey scolded himself in his mind. Maya walked towards them. Taani was still breathing heavily. " You have to control Taani. It's going to be tough." Taani sighted in her mind. She snapped out of her revive when Maya called her.

"Here, take this plane tickets." Maya grinned. "I will meet you guyz in Banglore." Taani was surprised.

"You are also coming?" Taani asked. "Yes, of course. I am leaving tonight. Okay, Bye." With that she walked out.

Taani looked at Rey, " I think, I should leave. Meet you tomorrow."

"Wait." Taani looked back. "I am going to drop you." Taani raised an eyebrow. "Don't argue on that."Rey warned her.

"Look Rey, I will manage." She protested. He didn't say anything, grabbed her elbow and started dragging her.

On the entire way, Taani hadn't speak anything to him. Rey tried to explain her that press will be here and there. He had already provided her a car. What was all this need? In the end, she decided to not to talk to him. She knew, he did it because of her dress. Rey knew she was again angry. But, he can't let her like this all alone. It's like all the people are same. But, he didn't want to take chance. He knew, she can handle it. But, if he can drop her then what's wrong?

"Taani, your home." Rey told her. She nodded. She took her belongings and removed seatbelt. She came out of the car. Rey did the same. She looked at him confusion.

"I will pick you up tomorrow at 10 in morning. Okay??" Taani just nodded. She yawned and bid him goodbye. Rey chuckled. Taani looked at him, "What??"

"You look cute." He smiled and jogged towards his car and sped off. Taani stood there just like that. Her cheeks were heating up. His little comment made her like this.

"You look cute." He nothing said like you look beautiful. But, this little comment really touched her heart. She had gained some compliments that she looks pretty, beautiful. But, this one was simple. But, it was different. He is a charmer. Now, she has to worry.

How is she going to work with him? And resist him? His charm?

It's not easy that easy. It's going to be difficult. Ignoring your feeling for a person who is going to be around you almost everyday. It's going to be really difficult. Really. She sighted and walked towards her apartment.
