JOURNEY OF MAANeet

PART1

today was the important day in geet's life...it was the result day of her 10th class...she was praying to god as she was tensed about her result...though she wrote all her subjects well but she still had fear that something might go wrong...her fraternal siblings harmeet and meet were there diverting her mind from this exam result phobia but all their efforts went in vain as geet was hardly listening to them...geet was more tensed when she saw her father coming home with a serious look on his face...

arjun singh father of geet singh was a school principal who has his children admitted in his own school so that he could keep an eye on them...though his three children were very mischievous they always excelled in studies...it was the only factor he couldn't say much to them when he gets their complaints...today he was very happy as geet excelled in class 10th exams...she was the school topper...he was a proud father today...all his staff members congratulated him on his daughter's success...what more could a father ask for?...his happiness grew no limits but still he maintained a stern face as he entered his home...

geet was sweating by now..seeing the angry look of her father she thought that she failed for sure...because she remembered her every year's result day...her father used to come home with box full of sweets with a big smile on his face...many a times she came second and third in class but he always made her feel that she topped her class...as he was the principal of her school he always was the first person to know her result...even though her siblings study in the same school it was geet's result that his father was eager to know...but today everything went upside down...

with a very angry look on his face arjun threw the printout paper on the center table of the drawing room and was pacing here and there...whenever he faced geet he maintained a stern look and whenever he faced his back he smiled widely...this was unnoticed even by his other two children...he was enjoying the look on his daughter's face...he dint know the reason...he thought to scare her a bit more...

as there was awkward silence in the hall simran came from the kitchen cleaning her damp hand with a cloth and looked surprisingly shocked at all the three...geet was standing transfixed with her head down and sorry written all over her face and other children were trying to guess what happened and what was going to happen...when she asked her husband what the matter was he just pointed out the paper on the centre table...

by this time geet had tears in her eyes...as soon as arjun saw tears in his daughter's eyes he couldn't act angry with her anymore...

meanwhile simran came forward and saw the contents of the paper...her happiness grew no bounds as she finished looking at it...all her children were puzzled...esp geet who expected her mother's angry face...

arjun came forward and lifting her, he made her stand on the sofa...he was wiping her tears and nodding his head for a no when simran came and gave her a bigg hugg with a big smile on her face...her father too had a big smile now...geet was not expecting this...

geet now had a doubt...she immediately took the paper from her mother's hands and was overwhelmed with what she saw...she was like my goodness i cant believe this...she started jumping on the sofa shouting i topped i topped...hearing this harmeet and meet also had a sigh of relief and joined the family hug...

but geet was angry with her father...she dint let her father apologise who was trying to hold his ears saying sorry...she just threw herself on him and he twirled her around saying congrats beta...geet was truly in 7th heaven now...

arjun and simran were proud parents whose children excelled in academics...harmeet and meet also got 3rd and 5th ranks in their 6th class...singh house in bhanpura had a festive mood in their home...

after a few days

at the dining table geet was telling her family that she wanted to be an engineer a marine engineer or aeronautical engineer...everyone approved of her choice except arjun...

arjun wanted geet to be doctor...he was a person who believed in social service...geet tried to protest saying that she has no interest in science...but he silenced her by raising his hand...he convinced her saying that she will develop interest and he himself was there everytime to help...arjun always felt that geet possessed all the qualities of a doctor such as hard working nature, patience, sense of responsibility, compassion and empathy, professionalism and instant decision making...observing her in school and at home there were many instances which proved these qualities in geet...he tried explaining the same thing...finally geet was convinced...

but she still had something in her heart that wanted her to oppose but she dint...she couldn't figure out why...she convinced herself that her father would never do anything which she will regret as he was the only person who knew her more than herself...

after 2 years

it was the day of her MP-PMT result...checking her number on internet she found that she couldn't make it...it was her saddest moment...no one in the home questioned her...this made her angrier...and her fraternal twins cleared their 10th exams with flying colors...this created a feeling of sibling rivalry in her...when she was academically good there was no chance of all these feelings creeping in her mind...she even started explaining herself that it was only because she was made to choose science she ended up rejected...little she did know that every medico goes through that phase at some point or the other...

when simran heard her sobs she tried to convince geet that winning is not always important...it was the process lo learning and the attempt which matters the most...

but geet couldn't think straight...a girl who excelled all these years couldn't take her failure ...she started blaming her father...

upto an extent simran thought its okay with her...but simran couldn't take it more when geet accused him of ruining her life...she simply slapped her...it was the first time she ever raised a hand on her children...she mentally cursed herself...

hearing the sound, harmeet and meet came to see what happened...

simran just hugged geet tightly when she started crying more n more...she apologised for her rude behaviour and told about her father...and his passion for medical sciences...

harmeet and meet too sat on the bed eagerly waiting to listen what her mother was about to say...
