The next day both of them reached college. The impact of the promise was so big that they were totally shattered and in this way forgot how to smile. They met each other only to fulfil their professional duties as GS and AGS respectively. They also avoided spending time together with the gang as they would sense that something was wrong and also they would bombard the two with questions which they never wanted to answer.

However, as the days passes, the gang noticed their change in equation. They had seen that Rey was present during the rehearsals physically but not mentally. His dance lacked the energy and lustre. It was as if someone was making him dance against his consent. They had not realised that he was going through a rough phase and that the person he loved the most had sacrificed her time so that he could be with them and support them.

Same was with Taani. Whatever their equation may be with her, they could not deny the fact that something was not right. She had stopped coming to the rehersal hall, let alone talk to them. She only came once that week to inform the team that they had been selected to perform for the quater-finals. At first they were really happy, but gradually they realised that she was the one who had kep them on track. Even if she scolded them, she was doing it coz it was for their benefit only.

After rehearsals, Rey left saying he had some work to do. Even the gang had nothing to do, so they decided to take a break and meet in the canteen to have some snack before they continued with their rehearsals. The food was going cold, but they were in no mood to eat it. Then Vicky spoke

Vicky: Guys, mujhe accha nahi lag raha hai. Maine, in fact, hum sab ne dekha hai ki Rey ke dance mein se vo shine gayab hi gayi hai. Aisa tabhi hota hai jab vo sad ho. Vo hum sab ko bahut zyaada avoid kar raha hai. Taani bhi humein avoid kar rahi hai, but the worst part is ki vo dono ek dusre ko bahut zyaada avoid kar rahe hai. Kuch to aisa hua hai jo hume nahi pata. Maine aaj tak Rey ko itna upset nahi dekha hai. Usually vo mujhe apni problem zarur bolta, par vo kuch bhi nahi bol raha hai.

Simmi: Same problem with Taani. Vo bhi itni udaas aur upset rehti hai ki kya bolun. Vo college aati hai, classes attend karti hai, apni GS ki duties pura karti hai aur bina hum sab se mile chali jaati hai. At times, maine usko washroom me bahut zyaada rote dekha hai. Whenever I ask her ki baat kya hai, she just avoids me and goes away crying.

Vicky: Taani ke upset hone ya na hone se mujhe koi farak nahi padta hai. I am only concerned about Rey. Vaise accha hai ki Taani humse baat nahi kar rahi hai, varna fir uske rudeness ko tolerate karna padta.

Swayam had kept quite the whole time. He had seen Taani upset and heard her cry, but his ego did not let him talk to her. He himself was wondering as to what was wrong, but did not talk to Taani. As soon as he heard Vicky's statement, he could not control his anger. He rushed towards him and held him angrily by his collar. He then spoke to him in a loud and outraged voice

Swayam: How dare you say that? Tune Taani ke baare mein aise kaise bola. Tujhe koi haq nahi banta ki tu aise baat kare samjha.

Vicky: Par Swayam vo bhi to tere saath itna rudely baat karti hai. Aur vaise bhi tune hi to kaha tha ki usse professional hi rahega.

Swayam: Main uske saath professional rahun ya sweetly rahun, main uske against ek word nahi sununga. Maana ki humari beech kuch problems hai, par ye baat mat bhulna ki first and foremost vo meri behan hai. Tu apna opinion apne paas rakh, samjha.

Saying so, he left the canteen in a fit of fury. Sharon, who heard all this, went to Vicky and spoke to him in a calm yet firm manner.

Sharon: Tumhe aisa nahi kehna chahiye tha Vicky. Maana ki un dono ke beech problems chal rahi hai, par iska ye matlab nahi ki hum kuch bhi bolen. Chahe kuch bhi ho, Taani Swayam ki behan hai, isilie apna opinion bolne se pehle socho. And guys, we cannot deny the fact ki Taani ne hum sab ki bahut help ki, chahe uska behaviour humare taraf jaisa bhi ho.

Also, yahan par Rey bhi kaafi upset hai, to jo hua hai, vo Taani aur Rey dono ke beech hua hai. Bahut time ho gaya hai un dono ko hastaa dekh. I really wonder kya hua hoga.

Nil: Sharon now only you can do something.

Neha: Haan Sharon. Ek baar Rey se baat karke dekho, shaayad vo maan jaaye.

Sharon agreed to do so but she modified her plan in her mind. She decided to talk to Taani first and then to Rey. In the evening she went to Swayam's house and knocked on the door. Swayam opened it and was surprised to see Sharon standing there.

Swayam: Hey!!

Sharon: Hi Swayam!!! Umm... Taani hai??

Swayam: Haan apne room mein hai. Main use bulata hun. Please come in.

Sharon smiled and went in while Swayam went to call Taani. She came out and was surprised to see Sharon. Sharon noticed her expression. Indeed she was not the Taani she knew. Her face had become dull and lifeless, and her smile was not genuine. Sharon became so upset that she wanted to console her. So she came up with a plan and started the conversation casually.

Sharon: Hey Taani... I hope tum abhi free ho. Mujhe kuch kaam hai tumse.

Taani (puzzled): Kaisa kaam?

Sharon: Mere paas NDC se call aaya tha. They said ki quaters mein humein theme based performance karni hai. Jab maine is baare mein VP sir se baat ki to unhone kaha ki tumhe bhi loop mein rakhna chahiye. So as tum GS ho, maine socha ki ek baar tumse discuss karke hi koi decision lun.

Taani: Haan zarur. Par I guess humein bhai ko bhi bulaana chahiye as vo ACS hai.

Sharon: We will involve him but only when we have some sort of a plan ready. So if you don't mind can we...

Taani smiled lightly and agreed. Both of them went to her room and started their work. As time passed, Sharon decided to investigate a little bit. So she asked casually.

Sharon: So, tumhari Rey se baat to hoti hogi...

Taani, who was writing something, suddenly dropped her pen. This made her recall all the moments she spent with him during their relationship. She then looked at Sharon with a fake smile on her face and answered her.

Taani: Haan. After all vo mere AGS hai. Kaam ke regarding to baat hoti rehti hai.

Sharon: Sirf kaam ki baatein ya aur bhi kuch baat hoti hai.

Taani (quickly): Aur koi baat nahi hoti.

After saying so she lowered her head to hide her tears. Sharon then shook her head and went near her. She lifted her chin so that she faced her. She then held her chin and spoke to her softly

Sharon: Tum chahe kuch na bolo, but tumhara expression sab kuch bol raha hai ki tum use kitna miss kar rahi ho.I know Taani ki tum Rey se kaam ke alaava kuch baat nahi karti. I know that you are missing him a lot.

On hearing this, Taani broke down and started crying. Sharon, shocked to see her like that hugged her and slowly caressed her head, allowing her to cry her heart out. After some time when she calmed down a bit, Sharon again asked her

Sharon: Taani mujhe pata hai ki tumhari Rey se baat hui hai. Please mujhe batao ki kya baat hai.

Taani told her about the fire exit conversation with Rey. Sharon was shell shocked. She again asked Taani.

Sharon (A little loudly due to shock): Par ye sab karne ki kya zarurat thi?

Taani: Zarurat thi Sharon.Vo mujhe time nahi de paayenge ye baat unhone khud kaha tha. Main hamesha dukhi rahun, isse better hai ki main apna kaam karun aur vo apna, taaki ek dusre ko complain karna ka mauka na mile ki hum ek dusre ko time nahi de paaye. Abhi NDC baaki hai, unka dhyaan uspar hona zyaada zaruri hai. Aur ye bhi hai ki vo mere boyfriend hone se pehle is college ke dance team ke ek important member hain.

Sharon was shell shocked. She took a deep breathe to digest what all was eing said and the she spoke to her again

Sharon: Itna sab kuch ho gaya aur tumne mujhe bataya bhi nahi. Kyun Taani?

Taani: Yehi ki main bevejah aapko pareshaan nahi karna chahti thi. Aapke paas already NDC ki responsibility hai isiliye main aapko apne sob story se burden nahi karna chahti thi.

On hearing this, Sharon had tears in her eyes. Never in her dreams had she seen that Taani was so pure at heart, and that she was ready to sacrifice her own desires for the people she loved. She hated herself for the fact that she was so damn rude to her. She never realised how much she would be hurting her. So she decided to mend the situation. But before she could say anything, Taani spoke again

Taani: Promise me Sharon, ki aap kisise kuch bhi nhi kahenge, specially bhai se.

Sharon: Par kyun Taani?

Taani: Bas aap nahi bolenge. Main nahi chahti ki bhai bina reasin ke tense ho.

Sharon: Par Taani...

Taani held her palm and placed it on her head.

Taani: Aapko meri kasam Sharon. Please!!

Sharon was now in a dilemma. On one hand, she wanted Taani to feel better so she had decided to talk to Swayam but on the other hand Taani was making her promise of not telling it to anyone. Since she made up her mind to mend the situation, she decided to agree with Taani

Sharon: Thike Taani. Tum jaisa kahogi, main vaisa hi karungi.

Taani: Thank you Sharon.

After a few seconds, Sharon spoke again

Sharon: Sorry Taani.

Taani gave her a puzzled look

Taani: Sorry? Par kisliye?

Sharon: Mere behaviour ke liye. Maine tumse bahut bura behave kiya hai. Main promise to nahi kar sakti ki main hamesha acchi rahunga, par main itna promise karti hun ki main puri koshish karungi tumse dhang se baat karne ki aur tumhara help karne ki.

Taani smiled and hugged her tightly.Sharon did too, praying fervently that everything will be alright in the near future.
