Part 10A:

She shuts down her laptop and walks to his cabin...Through the glass door, she observes him...

He appears to be in deep thoughts looking at nothing in particular...his eyes refused to even blink for a long long time...there was a lot of pain in those deep intense eyes...but no sign of exhaustion or sleep!

She knew his routine now...she had heard the team talk about his sleepless nights in office and also about the other private sanctum of his...his room in the lodge!

She couldn't help wonder how different this Arjun was...really a rebirth of sorts...

He seemed a total stranger to her now...a completely new person...

"kitna bathal gaye ho tum Arjun?" she voiced out mindlessly!

As if he heard her or may be call it telepathy, he looked to that direction and she couldn't react quickly and escape from his glance...

He also didn't fail to catch her lost look to his direction...he wondered what she was doing there at that time...he had expected her to have left office by this time...

He wondered what the reason was and got up from his seat...

She snapped out instantly and adorned back her ever smiling and stubborn attitude onto her face...she didn't want to let out to him, the face behind that bubbly chirpy form of hers...but she knew that he had already caught her by now...all he needed was a confirmation of what he had fished out!

She walked into his cabin and without giving him a chance to get back at her, she spoke up, "Arjun, kya aap mujhe Aisha ke ghar drop karoge??"

Arjun raised his eyebrows and looked at her enquiringly...he looked around for Aisha...she was nowhere to be seen...

As if replying to his unvoiced question, she took charge and spoke up,

"Aisha chali gayi...Sameer sir ke saat...[he was about to shoot the next question as to why she didn't go with them but she snapped him even before he opened his mouth and replied]..."ab kabaab mein haddhi nahi banna chahthi thi...so I backed out..."

[Seeing his mixed expressions hearing her mention about Sameer-Aisha's couple in the making story, she added] ab aise look kyun deh rahe ho??? don't tell me that you don't know anything about it, haan?

He broke his silent treatment and commented sarcastically, "aise matters mein khaafi tez ho?

Sakshi: [winking] aise matters mein hi nahi...bohat se baaton mein tez hoom main...yakeen nahi ho raha toh...you can test me out...[in a flirty tone to annoy him] I am all yours! [when his look turned from that of an enquiry to more of a stare, she quickly added with a sweet innocent smile] mera matlab, ab aapke team mein hoom...you have your chances to test and know my skills better, hai na?

Arjun gave a sarcastic look and turned away from her...

Even then, he couldn't help smile at her instant picking up of the brewing romance between his lost friend Sam and Aisha...he had sensed it a while ago but never had shown off that he knew it...he hadn't failed to notice a few lovey dovey stolen glances from his chief towards his lady team member...He was quick to realize that his friend had lost his heart to her already!

Arjun was indeed amused at Sakshi's sharp observation of having known it in just a few hours of interacting with them!

Yep, he couldn't admire her for all the brilliance she radiated each time he interacted with her...

When he met her, she did seem a dumb head girl who had nothing better to do rather than dress up prettily but he couldn't refute the fact that she had already exhibited the brainy skills behind that external beauty long back...even before coming out before him...

Though she posed like an open book always, he was sure that there was a hidden side of her which he was yet to know...yeah he had a hinge of what that was but he needed answers from her...

So when she asked for a lift, he couldn't deny it...it was a chance to speak to her as well

When Arjun was silent, Sakshi spoke up in an innocent tone, "ek boli baali ladki ko itne raat mein akela nahi chodna chahiye na?? Waise bhi aap jaise officer ke duty hai ke mujh jaise abla naariyon ka suraksha karna, hai na?

Arjun couldn't control his smile or rather a sarcastic chuckle...he coughed hearing her say that and looked at her with raised eyebrows, "abla naari kaun??? Tum??? [she fluttered her eyelids innocently and nodded "Haan"...he enquired instantly] uss raat jab ghar se bhaagi thi tab yeh abla naari kahaan thi?"

Sakshi didn't have an instant reply to it...she just dragged him, "woh sab baat bhool jaao ACP sir...aur chalo mujhe dher ho rahi hai..."

Soon he found himself driving her back home...it was silence that flooded up around them...but she couldn't stand the unsettling silence...it disturbed her big time...but he appeared least interested in talking and she too didn't want to start a conversation and end up being caught in her own words...By now, she knew that he was an expert in reading between lines and getting out meanings of unspoken words also...

She didn't dare to switch on the radio as well...she knew that the hot cop may not like it...Flaring him up and crossing his path in the wrong way was the last thing she wanted for the night...She thought that her quota of messing up with him for the day was long over...

So she flushed away the thought of a conversation with him and also the radio, and just hummed her all time favourite song and her hand tapped her thighs for the background music...

Her humming was in a lower voice but her choodiyon ka dhukaan made more noise attracting his attention towards her...he alternated his looks between her bangles which were making the noise and her lips which were humming...He could now hear her soft song as well...

Kuch Na Kaho, Kuch Bhi Na Kaho
Kya Kehna Hai, Kya Sunna Hai
Mujhko Pata Hai, Tumko Pata Hai
Samay Ka Yeh Pal Tham Sa Gaya Hai
Aur Is Pal Mein Koi Nahin Hai
Bas Ek Main Hoon, Bas Ek Tum Ho
Kuch Na Kaho, Kuch Bhi Na Kaho

He wondered to himself, "this always on the run girl had time to adorn matching bangles and that too so many that it looked more like a bangle store...huh?"

Then he literally smacked himself, "what the hell was he thinking?"

He gave a final glance to her side but at that same instant, she also turned to him and their eyes met for a long moment...

But the very next moment, he broke the eye lock and turned away...with it, he broke the silence as well to save the embarrassment of having been caught off guard by her and also he needed to start the conversation at some point...he was looking out for the right moment to start off...

He spoke up, "So Presley college and Miss Sakshi Anand, not a mere coincidence, huh?"

Sakshi stopped her humming instantly and turned to his side...She knew that he had picked the right point and at the right time...She couldn't deny it nor tell him any lies...

One look from him was enough for her to spill out a yes...

"yes...not a coincidence"

Her ready acceptance surprised him but yes, he knew that she wouldn't hide anymore...but before he could question further, she added..

"But don't worry...ab woh paagal ladki nahi hoom...haan paagalpann zaroor hai but the intensity is less and blend is different! I have changed for good!"

[She grinned at her own statements...]

He didn't smile or rather couldn't smile...but yet, he was forced to go back the memory lane...there were bitter memories as well that came up to his mind...

He voiced out, "changes toh hai parr ab bhi tumne chupke se games khelne ki aadat nahi bathla..."

She didn't reply...instead, she looked out of the window...

He couldn't help voice out the question which was lingering in his mind for a long time now, "kyun aayi ho waapas miss wrong number?"

Sakshi replied mindlessly, "tab bhi wrong number pe wrong timing pe aayi thi aur shaayad ab bhi..."

Her words didn't find a way out...she stopped abruptly...
