Based on the definition Rae posted of a fan fiction, I think its safe to say that the first thing every FF writer must include is the disclaimer. I have myself not added the disclaimer to one of the short stories I'm currently writing.

As I mentioned earlier we need a Code of practise to be formulated. Jot I recoomed that you choose a few members to form a working group and brainstorm to come up with the code of practise. Plagiarism is a rising pest and its time we came up with rigid rules that are clear to one and all before someone lands themselves in a big legal soup.

We cannot turn a blind eye to this, punishment is good, but it only makes sense when we have clear rules and policies in place to precede them.

Disclaimers are a must. I add a general one citing the production house and channel (in case of TV shows) in every story and a specific one if dialogues have been used straight from the show, other sources have been used etc.

I only write that its an ArHi fanfic. If I am required to put a disclaimer then MODs do let me know.
