Khushi is shown to run down a deserted road in the middle of the night, trying to cover her body with her tattered clothing, as she finds refuge in a dark alleyway. It is shown that she had gone to a function at someone's house and she was part of the caterers who had set up the desserts table filled with her assortment of jalebis and other Indian sweets. Arnav is patrolling the streets and finds her, she seems to be very afraid of him. Shyam joins Arnav, and it is revealed that Arnav is ACP while Shyam is junior to him as he was demoted for attempting himself on Anjali Singh.

Shyam leers at Khushi, and this does not go unnoticed by Arnav. Arnav orders Shyam to go away and report to the commissioner, and Shyam unwillingly leaves after saying a few mocking words. Arnav volunteers to drop Khushi home, and she reluctantly agrees. Arnav finds out that the men behind Khushi's attempted rape were the Jha's and they are too powerful for her to press charges. Arnav frustrated with the system, drops her home, and then makes her promise that she would call him for anything. Khushi agrees.

Khushi is then shown to walk down the market in broad daylight a few days later, and after not having enough money to buy some cloth material, she bumps into the same man who had attempted to force himself upon her. Afraid, she tries to move away, but he grabs a hold of her and starts to misbehave. A crowd forms around them, and nobody steps forward to help Khushi.

Arnav arrives to see what the commotion and crowd is about and sees Khushi behind manhandled. The man is revealed to be Dasya Jha, a man who has the law, and everybody powerful under his thumb ' except for a few such as Arnav. Dasya mocks Arnav's honesty, while Arnav doesn't rise to the bait. Khushi seeks comfort from Arnav, and Dasya mocks this as well. He calls her "used goods" and it is revealed that Khushi was involved with a married man.

Arnav punches Dasya, and takes Khushi away, ignoring Dasya's warning that he will pay for punching him. Arnav angered at Khushi for not having called him, puts the number in her mobile so she doesn't forget in the future. After dropping her home, he tells her to be careful.

Khushi's past is given a glance when she thinks about her time with the married man, and her reason for shifting to Delhi is revealed. She calls up the man she was involved with and apologises to him and his family. She cuts all ties with him and asks him to never contact her again. Dasya's dark, complex personality is given a brief glance when he tends to the chickens with care, however his mind is fixated on Khushi. His involvement in the drugs is also revealed, and his right-hand man, Ved, is also shown. Shyam and Arnav are shown to have undercurrent tension between them ever since the night that Arnav saved Khushi, and Shyam tries to goad Arnav into snapping. He taunts him by badmouthing Anjali. Through this it is revealed that Anjali is Arnav's cousin and Shyam was going out with Anjali before he started misbehaving with her and tried forcing himself upon her. Arnav's controls snaps and he punches Shyam. Shyam takes this opportunity to go the the commissioner, Girish, who reprimands both of them on their behavior. He then asks Shyam to leave and tells Arnav to control himself better around Shyam, as his hands are tied, and next time he may not be able to do anything.

Khushi is shown to run her business well, acquiring quite a name in the community. Arnav finds a lead to a drug dealer, and pretends to be a customer selling wearing a disguise. Since the dealing takes place after midnight, he doesn't expect anyone to be roaming the streets. After a bit of a scuffle with the drug-dealers, Arnav is about to hit one, when he hears the sound of a utensil crashing to the ground, and he sees that Khushi is standing a few feet away from him, shaking in fear. She runs away, and Arnav runs after her. She thinks it's someone else, however after a lot of struggling, Arnav convinces her that it's him. Arnav drops her safely home, and gives her the number to a safe taxi and auto company, worried about her safety and how she roams at night.

Khushi's sister, Payal's wedding is fixed with another police officer called Akaash. Khushi, in celebration, decides to cell her jalebis for half the price, and there she sees Arnav walking down the street in his police uniform. To thank him for saving her countless amount of times, she offers him a box of jalebis, however he refuses stating that he hates sweets. Finally, she forces him to take the box of jalebis and tells him that she knows he will eat them. Arnav accepts reluctantly, and then ends up taking the sweets to his Nani and cousin, Anjali, who devour them whole-heartedly, while Arnav looks on in distaste. After taking them home, it is shown that Arnav finally gives in and takes a bite of the jalebi, for the first time, enjoying the sugary taste of a sweet.

The celebrations continue and Khushi shuts down her shops to focus on the wedding arrangements. Shyam is shown to think a lot of Khushi and starts to loiter around the streets of her shop trying to get more information. On teh day of the wedding, he somehowe manipualtess Arnav into coming for the wedding, and leers at Khushi. When Khushi is upstairs he scares her by grabbing a hold of her, but she manages to escape and Khushi's worried face does not escape Arnav's attention.

Garima notices Arnav and Khushi's interaction and mysteriously calls up someone informing them of it. Shyam overhears the conversation and his curiosity in her increases and he decides to snoop into her past using his police connections. Shashi notices something amiss about Shyam and decides to go back to his village to get rid of some evidence. There he sees Shyam taking a bus to their original village and alarm bells ring. He follows him there and gives the papers away to someone of the past. Just as he is coming back he sees Shyam again and confronts him, telling him to leave Khushi alone. Shyam, in his anger, kills Shashi.

It is shown that Shyam is mentally imbalanced as his levels of admiration of Khushi has reached new heights. He mourns for Shashi's death all the while imagining Khushi in his arms.

Khushi finds out about Shashi's death and is devastated. She goes back home only to be tormented by Dasya's men who come to tell her that she will be his bride soon. Garima and Buaji decide to escape the next morning but Arnav arrives to give his condolences. Khushi who has been bottling up her emotions lets everything out in front of him and hugs him in her grief. Buaji notices everything but does not say anything.

As Arnav is in the house, Shyam calls up Khushi however he does not say anything, freaking her out. Just then Dasya's men arrive and Arnav protects however demands an explanation off Khushi.
