He had to clear his throat rather loudly to gain his wife's attention.
The moment Khushi's gaze fell on his kurta-pyjama clad form she shrieked with joy.
Khushi: Wow Arnavji! This kurta-pyjama suits u to the T! U're looking like a hero!
Arnav: Really? (folding the sleeves)Which hero wears kurta-pyjama?

She stopped abruptly.

Arnav pulls her flush against himself by her waist with the result that Khushi crashes into his body.
Then he grabs her hips & pulls her even closer,allowing his body to tell her what he felt for her.
Khushi gasps and closes her eyes.

Khushi opens her eyes & pushes him away with all her strength.

Khushi(interrupts): No Arnavji,I'm not sad. Yes,I do feel bad coz I couldnt talk to aunty for 1,last time before she passed away. And also bcoz.. aunty's death was sudden. But I'm not sad at all. U know y?

Khushi: Coz aunty's soul got liberated! No matter what u & I felt,the truth is that in all these years post uncle's death,aunty blamed herself for it. According to her,her Rabji made her live alone for all these years as a punishment. So.. if we see from aunty's POV,her Rabji has forgiven her & thats y her punishment got over today! After staying alone for years together,she finally got her Rabji's support! (smiles)I'm sure,by now she must've met uncle! She must b on cloud 9 upon meeting him after sucha long time!
Arnav smiles at his wife's innocent thinking.

Arnav(loudly): Answer me,dammit!
Khushi woke up with a start.
She looked around,puzzled & dazed.
One look at her confused,tear-stricken face & Arnav knew that she'd had a nightmare.
He gently cupped her face & spoke in a soothing tone.
Arnav: Relax Khushi,it was just a bad dream..
Khushi: Dream?
Arnav nodded.
Khushi heaved a massive sigh of relief before hugging him tight,clutching the collar of his kurta in her fist.
Arnav(running a hand thru her hair): Relax.. U wanna hav water?
Khushi shook her head.
Before Arnav could say anything,she lifted her head & looked at him with hopeful eyes.
Khushi: U'll come with me in the train tomorrow. Wont u?
Arnav: Of course I will!
Khushi: Sure?
Arnav: Yeah,damn sure (kisses her forehead) Even if I hav to pay a fine & travel without ticket,I'll do so in order to b with u!
Khushi's fears were laid to rest with that one sentence.
She gave a small smile before hugging him again.

The sky was dark blue with hues of red.
The black SUV went smoothly along the deserted streets of Srinagar.

He glanced sideways & glared momentarily at her before turning his gaze to the road.
His cold glare sent a shiver down her spine. Yet she continued..
Khushi: U're.. really not coming with me?
Arnav: I dont like repeating things!
His cold,unfriendly tone was so harsh that it reduced Khushi to tears.
Khushi(held his arm): Plz dont do this! Plz.. plz come with me! I've never travelled alone in a train. How will I.. go alone today?
Arnav: Its high time u learn how to travel alone! There r thousands of people who commute alone thru trains & buses on a daily basis. If they can do it, y cant u?
Khushi: Coz I'm scared..
Arnav: U need to overcome ur fears,Khushi. Now's the chance to do so.
The SUV halted with a screech outside the railway station.
Arnav unfastened Khushi's seatbelt.
Khushi: Suniye..
He picked up her duffel bag from the rear seat and thrust it on her lap.
Arnav: Go..

Left with no other option,Khushi opened the door on her side.
Before stepping out,she looked at him,one last time.
A tiny ray of hope glimmered somewhere in her heart as she asked..
Khushi: U're.. coming inside naa,till the.. platform?
Arnav: No. We were together only till this point. U'll hav to go alone beyond this. Dont waste time. Go soon or else u'll end up missing ur train.
Khushi opened her mouth but words failed her.
Arnav: Go Khushi..
She wiped her tears & stepped out of the SUV.
Her shoulder dropped since her bag was very heavy.
Slowly she climed the stairs that led her to the 1st platform.
She found a group of burqa donned ladies near by.
Khushi(approaches them): Excuse me..
1 lady: Yes?
Khushi: The..train which goes to Delhi comes on this platform,doesnt it?
1 lady: Yes,it does. In fact its about to arrive.
Khushi: Okay,thanks!
She gingerly went ahead and sat down on one of the benches.
Clutching her mangalsutra in her fist she recalled Arnav's words.
"We were together only till this point. U'll hav to go alone beyond this"
Khushi(thinks): Y did Arnavji hav to say all that?
She balled her fist tightly so that her nails would hurt the soft flesh of her palm.

Her chain of thoughts was interrupted when she heard the annoucement.
She got up and waited for the train,trying her best to calm her frayed nerves.
The chugging sound of the train grew louder & louder as the train approached closer to her.
Khushi's heart thumped in her chest & involuntarily her hand went to her mangalsutra.
Khushi(thinks): How I wish Arnavji was here with me! (sobs) But he left me alone. Hey Devi Maiyya! Y didnt he come along with me? (sobs) Y did he hav to leave me alone? (sobs) Atleast he could've come to the platform!(sobs) lard governer kahin k!
The train came to a halt & passengers rushed inside their respective coaches.
She stiffled her sobs,wiped her tears and prepared to get inside the train when Arnav woke her up.

Arnav: I guess u were disturbed after hearing about aunty's death hence u saw that dream. But now u're awake & u know that it was a nightmare. And I'm telling u,that dream will never turn into reality! so stop crying,okay?

Khushi: Had itr been Shubhamji,he would've called u naa,y would he knock the door? Plz see who it is..
Arnav got up & sleep walked to the door.
He was surprised to see buaji standing outside.
Arnav: Buaji?
Buaji(folds her hands): Jai ho Nandkisore ki! I've been banging the door since sucha long time,babua.. My hand is aching terribly!
Arnav: Sorry buaji! We were sleeping..
Buaji: I understood that when u didnt answer the phonewa. Thats y I personally came here!
Khushi(walks up to the door): Did u get aunty's news?
Buaji: Who aunty? Areh Nandkisore,I came here to tell u about the huge mistake which we've made!
Khushi(confused): Mistake?
Buaji: Ya,Sanka devi. We're lucky that manager babu told us that there's no railway isstasan in Srinagar!

Buaji: Ya! R train is from Jammu Tawi isstasan!

Buaji: Yes babua,and that too as soon as possible since r train departs from there at 12:30 baje. It'll take around 3 hours to reach Jammu.
Arnav: How come u'll didnt know that the train was from Jammu tawi? Didnt any of u check the tickets?
Buaji: No babua. That was a big mistake which we made. I'd told Manoj babua while booking the tikat that r return tikat should b from Srinagar. But he never told me that no train leaves from here!
Arnav: Unbelievable!
Khushi: Now leave all that aside,Arnavji. U hav ur bath meanwhile I'll pack the clothes.
Buaji: I was about to say the same thing. I've ordered breakfast in r room.U both come there after getting ready,okay?
Khushi: Ji buaji.
She closed the door once buaji left.
Arnav opened his suitcase & started stuffing his clothes inside it.
Khushi: I'm feeling very bad ,Arnavji..
Arnav(turns to look at her): For what?
Khushi: U'd come here to spend ur holidays but.. nothing worked as per ur plan. Niether could we go to Gulmarg nor could u go for ice skating over there. Niether could u play golf nor could u go for water skiing today. Nothing worked as per ur plan!
Arnav(cups her cheek): Who said so? My main motive for coming here was spending time with u,which happened. Plus,u wore my shirt for me,so that was also according to my wish! Plus,we trie a new position so even that happened according to my wish! Now,about skiing & golf,there's always a next time! Wen we'll go to Gulmarg for the resort related work,I'll play golf & go for skiing as well,okay?
Khushi nods.
Arnav: So,dont feel guilty. Now u start packing meanwhile I'll hav my bath.
Khushi: Ji..
As she keeps her clothes inside her duffel bag,her eyes fall on the small,Devi Maiyya statue,lying securely wrapped in one of her dupattas.
She takes it out and prays to it.
Khushi: Hey Devi Maiyya! Plz make sure that we reach Jammu in time. And plz make sure that Arnavji gets a berth in r coach itself. I had a really nice time in Kashmir! Arnavji came to spend time with me,I gotta chance to stay in the most beautiful hotels & houseboat,I went for shikara ride & the best part-my foot became better! Thank u so,so much for that! Sometimes I wonder,had Arnavji not arrived unannounced that night,would this trip b as amazing as it turned out to b? (smiles)I know it wouldnt.
