~Chapter 2: Shit! Did We?~
"Shit! Did we get married last night?"
Both Arnav and Khushi looked at each other in unison as their words echoed in the bare space of the room. Khushi started playing with her fingers, making all types of shapes on the rosy-whitish bed-sheet where she opted for support after hearing the block buster news; not hindering herself to meet Arnav's gaze. She fidgeted with the scarf all the way processing her thoughts: Did we marry by coincidence? By chance, did anything really happened in between us? If we got married, did we...? But why would I marry him? I am not mad of course! Did he force on me? Maybe he was drunk and he forcibly made me marry him? But why can't I remember anything? NO Khushi! This isn't possible; he was drunk himself; how can her do such a thing? Maybe it was just a pretense? Maybe he is not as naif as he looks? Maybe I was right! He was a spy! NO NO KHUSHI! He can't be like that; he was not lying at that time; remember, people always speak the truth when they are drunk! She finally concluded that she was befuddled herself and no one can ever resolve over anything being in a baffled situation as her; in fact she was as confused as the dog whose bone vanished between his teeth! So, she left everything to unfold at its own pace and restored her panicked expression; finally taking command over herself and was on the threshold of engaging a conversation with Arnav when she caught sight of the panoramic view in front of her; she didn't notice the play of light which was streaming through the stained-glass window with the waves breaking over the beach just outside with their silent ruffles and the chirping of birds resounding all over outside; it felt so nice to admire the unfurling beauties of mother nature; it felt so right and somewhere heart soothing for Khushi after the reel of events that had just taken place a few minutes before.
"It's so beautiful! It's strange na? Mother Nature is so heartwarming at times!" she exclaimed moving upto the window, opening it with a swift hand movement, opened her hands all wide hugging the cold breeze of that morning.
She waited for Arnav to react to react but he didn't respond; he kept staring out the bedroom window, his face as wiggly as a jellyfish on jelly pills, his eyes shut, with his fingers en-caged in a tight fist banged on the wall. It seemed that he was pondering over his thoughts or fidgeting something same like Khushi. Maybe he is also thinking-- but we didn't-- there is no proof-- exchanging rings doesn't mean that-- maybe he liked my ring and wanted to try it-- but how did it fit so perfectly?-- Khushi; not all things have an answer!Just chill! Everthing is fine!-- Breathe in breathe out!-- Breathe in breathe out! **[Remember Nk here guyz! Lambi saas andar lo-- lambi saas bahar pheko! :-D LOL]**
Arnav was drowned in his thoughts with what was happening in his life? It was a fact that he had numerous hangovers since the past few days and he often ended up in unknown places but he never ended up marrying someone; what he thought he must have done! First this, then all these mishaps, how?
*FLASHBACK*
"Mr Raizada, what do you have to say for the past mishaps in your life?"
"Sir, Sir, How do you feel after losing both important persons of your life?"
"Mr Arnav Singh Raizada, how do you plan to takeover AR Business now? Now, that the company is going down and down, what do you plan to do?"
"Sir, Excuse me, Sir, Sir, here! Are you still in good terms with Mrs Sandhya Raizada? I mean sir, after what she has done?"
"Mr Yash Pratap Raizada, being your father, do you think you'll ever be able to take his place in business?"
"And what about Miss Lavanya Kashyap? It was a relationship set by your parents. Are you both going to tie the knot soon?"
*END OF FLASHBACK*
It's so strange that a couple of days before, life was so pleasant and warm; and now it was not less then hell; Why did this have to happen in his life only? He was leading such a peaceful life; why? Everything was just so perfect then how did it become like that? how? Perhaps It will always remain a question mark; after all life was nothing else but joyful for him...
"Eurrm---Arnav---It's not---By having---I mean our rings---You should not---Nothing is in---We did not possibly- ge- gee- get mar-marrie-married---I mean you know maybe you must have---NO! Maybe I must have liked your ring and wanted to try it! Maybe! Anything is possible but that doesn't mean that we have got mar---mar--ri---ed---married. I am sure there is another logical explanation to all this! Let the room service come, we'll have our black coffee to restore ourselves back and I am sure everything will be fine as before! Don't worry!"
That was all what Khushi mustered to say with trembling lips; hoping to reassure him as well as her-- if he lashed out on her like a hungry dog wanting revenge for all the bad things she had indicted him of, it wouldn't be worse than getting married with him!-- that was what relieved the strained atmosphere reigning there-- at least for her!
This time Arnav broke out of his pondering act and paid some attention to her. He approved with a nod; a reassuring one and insisted on getting their requirements themselves.
Both moved out of their room, made their way down to the cafeteria of the hotel. What was really eccentric and what really struck them were all the employers of the cafeteria who gave a pleasant yet congratulating smile to them; first one employer, then two, then three, till all the employers there were busy staring them followed by a regular hand movement and some whispers in each others' ears.
"My heartiest congratulations to you!! May god always have his blessings on you and may you be blessed with a lot of kids! You are really made for each other! Happy Marriage; may god keep your couple away from all inauspicious things. God bless!" The old lady of the Cafe told with her eyes gleaming with joy, joy and joy.
"Sorry--you are mistaken---"
"Excuse-me? Are you serious?" Arnav cut Khushi off.
"My boy? Haven't your elders taught you manners? No thank you, nothing! My girl, tell your husband to mind his words; I am just doing good for you two! You are really an epitome of true love birds! My girl, you should keep your husband in your fist since now itself so that he doesn't slip away from you later! Mark my words, my girl."
"What the f!"
"ARNAV!... Sorry Aunty, actually, you are mistaken, we are not a couple, we are not yet married, he is-- just an acquaintance. Still, thank you very much! My heartiest thank you to you!"
"Arre Vaah! Ye kab hua? Tum dono ne aaj hi jhakda kiya? Shaadi ki dusre hi din pe? Ye kya baat hui my boy? Aur ek dusre ko na jaan-ne ka naatak? Kyun? Yeh pyaar nahi hota hai! Pyaar mein toh sukh dukh mein, sab mein, hum ek dusre ka sath detein hai!
{When did this happen? Did you both fight today? On your second day of marriage itself? What is this my boy? And you pretend of not knowing each other! Why? This is not called love! In live, we stand by each other in good and bad times!}
Both Arnav and Khushi shared confused glances at each other figuring out the actual depth of the situation; the fact was that both's heart and mind were shouting out loud that "Yes, you both DID get married!" But they ignored it.
"Don't think I don't know anything! I know each and everything that happened between you! Don't pretend! Yesterday, you were shouting out everywhere: I love you! You love me! We love each other! Now what?"
"WHAT??????????????????????"
Oh! That was definitely a missile sent out from Aunty's side! Arnav and Khushi were now more than eager to know what had happened yesterday night? What had actually happened?
"What What? Nowadays' youngsters I tell you!"
"Please, could you tell us what happened?"
"What do you mean by that? Don't you know yourself?"
"We want to know what did you see?" Arnav flatly asked.
"Till what extent did you see?" Khushi added urgently by faking a blush.
"You naughty couple! Ok! I'll tell you!"
Aunty started with her piece of narration.
"Yesterday night, as I was working in the Cafe here, I heard voices of people talking. I reached out till the entrance of the Cafe, when I saw you both. At my first glimpse, I knew that you were drunk; you were both wobbling up till here with this pretty lady here's; that is your wife's hands wrapped around your chest and you were holding her head, caressing it gently, both had your eyes staring at each other and you were murmuring something in the ears. I approached you both and could see your wife holding a few balloons firmly in her grip. Your wife was telling you: He left me and went. He went; my heart was broken; it really was. It hurts you know! But now I am very happy that we have finally got married! You will not be like him, won't you? You will not? You know, when I first saw you, I knew that there was something special in you, you.. you are so.. so nice! I wish he could be like you! You will not leave me, won't you? You will stay with me forever, won't you? You will, won't you? You love me, na? I know you love me, otherwise, You would never marry me. Life is so painful na? He told me his loved me, but he cheated on me then. He is very bad, very, very bad! You are a good boy you! Good boy! You will never leave me na? You will never break my trust na? You will never na? I love you and I know you love me too!
And you, on seeing her, got tears in your eyes, your eyes welled up my son! Seeing you both, I shed tears of joy! You then told her that you promised, that you promised everything she told you and that you loved her a lot more than she loved you! Then, I think you both had a cute, sweet fight over who loves whom most... It was one of the most heartwarming sights I had ever seen! You both are really made for each other!"
Arnav thumped his foot in shame and Khushi closed her eyes which were now on the verge of letting out a pool of tears.
The lady continued. "You then walked in the Cafe here hugging each other so tightly; not even leaving space for air in between you! You shuddered up to me and starting shouting out loud: I love her, She loves me, We love each other! Then, your wife spoke, being very emotional, Aunty, you know, he is my husbaaand! We have just got married there! He is very nice and cute, can you see? His brown hazel chocolaty eyes, his smile, he is just more than my prince charming! He knows what is love and he will always love me! He is not like him! He promised me to stay by my side forever and ever! He is so sweet na? You will never leave me will you? Then you took over the situation by stopping her from uttering these words of separation. What happened next was sweeter than honey! You picked her up in your arms and started telling her Why do you say all these things Khushi! Life is not a bet of roses, but we can make it a bed of ladoos, right? Ladoos are more sweet than roses after all! I love you Khushi, you are my Kareena Kapoor in my life, you are the reason why I will breathe from now! I love you, love you, love you! But there's one thing, let me tell you, Never ask me to give up my life for you huh! Bechara{Poor} Romeo will lose his title of being a true lover and you would never want that na? You are my Kareena, my Aishwaria, my Katrina! Mixture of all these Khushi! You are my radha, I am your Krishna! I will never leave you as he left you and went! Promise! Pakka Promise! That was the sweetest part! And your wife was the cutest with her cute, confused expressions! Haw! You are both really meant for each other! She told you that you were her Dabbang Khan! That you would both make life a bed of gulabjamun![😆] It was so touchy! God bless you both!"
Khushi stepped behind, her back crashing against the wall of the Cafe, she sat down leaning for support on the grey wall, with tears rolling down her cheeks. She closed her eyes in pain and wondered, that she had just got a break up; how the hell did she end up marrying another man; a stranger, a complete stranger! How could she tell Arnav all these things about him and her; how? As the soft, warm tears made their way down her cheek, all those painful memories came back to her. She went back to that day.
*Flashback*
She started moving back with retreating steps as he started making his way towards her; to say, she was not in her normal state, quite drunk but still was conscious of all the happenings around her.
One step ahead; one step backward, one step ahead; one step backward; this was the flow of actions taking place in the room. He moved towards her and she moved backwards leading to a series of foward-backward movement between them which was soon brought to a halt when her back hit against the wall. He continued his steps ahead, moving closer and closer to her by each passing moment. She closed her eyes in a brisk movement anticipating what was coming next...
In a sudden movement she could hear the sound of "thappak"; probably a slap and that was when she opened her eyes. Shanaya looked up to NK to see what was wrong.
"KHUSHI!"
"Leave my hand Nk! What were you just doing now? You were kissing her? Did you forget that I am your fiancee?"
"It's not--"
"Tell me! Yes tell me the same bunch of lie again! Tell me na! That she was out of breath, you were giving her oxygen; tell me?"
"Khu--"
"Don't utter my name with your dirty mouth! I am finished with you! It was all my fault! I shouldn't have trusted you! It is apparent that you have not changed at all! Just leave me!"
"Who is she?" Shanaya said with a confused expression.
"Who am I huh? Explain her everything Nk! Now you will have your entire lifetime to explain her because I am leaving you! I am kicking you out of my life! Do you get that? GOOD BYE!"
*End of Flashback*
Khushi got up, wiped away her tears, composed herself and went towards Arnav...
~Sneak Peek Of Next Chapter~
"I still think these people are pulling our leg," Khushi whispered to Arnav. Maybe we could have put up an act of getting married in our drunken stupor and these people might have considered it to be true'.or maybe they're just fooling us so that after we leave they can have a good laugh about it."
"You might be right. Let's just accept their congratulatory messages and not create any ruckus about it. I'm sure that will make them understand that they cannot hoodwink us. If you're done eating, let's leave."
As the duo made their way to the cashier, the old lady called out to them, "My dears you have forgotten something." When Khushi and Arnav turned back to see what it was, all they saw was a sheet of paper in her hand.
"No aunty, this isn't ours. In fact we hadn't brought any paper with us today." Khushi said.
"Of course my child; this paper wasn't brought today, it was left over here yesterday. It's your marriage certificate!"
