The first part is basically a flashback of some years gone by in which two lovers in Lucknow were not able to have their forever together.

I have no issues with that.

But... but...

Why is the start of a chapter in which we come to know that Khushi feels for Arnav the above flashback?

Here, we have her thinking how he affects her, how the tiniest of his actions or a lack thereof affect her, she is even thinking of love and Arnav together and is wondering about a loveless marriage with him. We needed her perspective and that brought the families' views into the picture too.
