a small update i know, but i'll be posting 4B after a few hours...

Chapter 4A

"Boss? Our Boss? How can it be?" Riya said incredulously.

"Enough of your tantrums!" Arjun said angrily at Riya, he turned towards Shree and asked him to take him to Rathore's office. Shree took him there and left him to come back to comfort Riya. Shree had always had a crush on Riya since the first day she joined, however he knew loads about gadgets and softwares, but he didnt know how to talk with girls, so in the end he couldn't manage to ask Riya out. He ended up being her best friend, but still he was happy that he could stay near her, that was the most important thing for him right now. Shree came back to comfort, and was happy to see that Chotu also was trying his best to make Riya smile. They both talked and tried their best to make Riya laugh, and they had almost succeeded when suddenly the phone rang, and it was Arjun asking Riya to come alone in his office.

"Dont worry Ri, we'll be waiting outside! We will always be there for you. Just shout, and we'll enter to help you," both said to her.

Riya felt happy at their concern, but she knew that Arjun would again insult and fight with her, so she prepared herself mentally, and went to meet him. She knocked on the door, and when she went inside, she waited for the insults.

"Please sit down Miss Riya," Arjun said politely.

Riya was shocked at his tone, and immediately complied with his request.

"We have started on the wrong foot i guess, but this is an office, we both are ETF officers, and we have the responsibility of people's safety and security on our hands, so as long as we are in working hours, we'd leave out our differences and try our best to work as a team," Arjun told her.

Riya was completely stunned at this Arjun, she never thought Arjun would talk to her like this. She looked at him with shocked eyes and open mouth. Arjun was finding a stunned Riya very delightful sight to watch, "Close your mouth, just in case any flies enter," he said jokingly.

Riya immediately closed her mouth, and since she really didnt know what to say,she got up and was going away from the office, when Arjun called her and reminded her, "This doesn't mean that i trust you or that i accept you are Rathore fiance, and this also doesn't mean that you are safe from me, cause i'll dig out the truth one day!"

"Khadoos! And here i was thinking that he had mellowed down, instead he had to bring up the bad things again! But still she was happy that her job won't be affected at all due to their fights" she thought with a smile as she joined Shree and Chotu. Both wanted to ask what happened, but her smile and stress-free face already was saying everything.

They all completed the paper work on previous cases, when suddenly Arjun came and told them they had a new case. They all took the SUV and went on the crime scene,and Arjun told them the basic about the case during the journey and asked Riya to find out more information.

A young couple was found dead in their house. When they reached there, they could distinguish that the couple had been dead a few days back, since their body was in an advanced decomposition state. It was difficult to say whether it was a normal death or any foul play involved. They searched the whole house and gathered as much evidences as possible.

"I think it's a murder," Shree said.

"Maybe, cause it's a bit difficult for two people to die at the same time," Arjun said, "moreover there doesn't seem that there was any fight here, nor anything stolen! However till we dont get the post mortem results we can't say anything."

"I doubt it's a murder Sir," Riya said after gathering all the information she could on them, "It appears that this couple had many problems, financial problems, apparently. And also they had just lost their sole child in an accident last month. According to the neighbours, they hadn't been able to get over this, and were always depressed since then."

"Depressed? You mean suicide?" Arjun asked and looked around for anything that could substantiate it.

They all searched for anything, but they couldn't find anything, no poison nor any food which could have lead to their death.

"We'll wait for the post mortem results!" Arjun said, "And in the meantime, Shree and Chotu you both go to investigate about them at their working place. We need more information before coming to any conclusion! And also check their phone records"

"Riya you'll come with me to the doctor for the results," Arjun said.

Arjun and Riya were alone in the SUV on the way to see the doctor. Riya completely forget her fights with Arjun, and started talking about the case, "Sir, till now we can see that there is no proof of violence or external involvement. But we also didnt find any food or poison at their place. Maybe someone else poisoned their food. Or maybe they ate it outside and came to die in their house!"

"Anything can happen Riya, but let's see the cause of death first, because apart from this we dont have any other clues," Arjun replied.

In a few minutes, they had reached the hospital, and both talked with the doctor and came to know that the couple had died by food poisoning. Apparently from analysis of their stomach, it had rat poison in it.

Arjun and Riya came out of the hospital and was discussing about the case.

"Sir we didnt find any rat poison at their place!" Riya said.

"Yep and we even searched the wastes thrown outside, but nothing!" Arjun said.

"But Sir according to the doctor, the couple had died 3 days ago, and if i remember correctly, there wasn't much waste outside, meaning maybe the garbage truck has passed recently!" Riya said.

"If the garbage truck has really passed to collect any wastes, then maybe we'd never get any proofs now. We must look out for a new clue. Phone Shree and Chotu to find out if they have found anything on their side! And ask them to dig deeper in both pasts, " Arjun ordered Riya.

Riya immediately phoned Shree and was talking with him, while Arjun was observing Riya. She had managed to impress him with her working skills in only one day, she was very good and efficient at her work. But why was she lying then? He thought...
