"Rey" she began

Rey was looking at her expectantly as if he wanted her to say something. Positive vibes began surrounding him. But she couldn't complete her sentence. The bell rang and it was time for the first lecture.

It was an advantage for Sharon because she was not willing to talk to Rey. In other words, she didn't want to hurt him. She was not a girl with a soft heart. She had her own share of ups and downs but she didn't want to stay like a weakling. Yes. She had made a decision and that decision was about not letting Rey ruin her life again. She didn't want to get back with him. She was not soft but somehow she felt that it was not right on her part to hurt him like this.

"He hurt you too" A voice echoed throughout her mind.

Sharon mentally agreed to this statement. Internally she knew that it was the truth, but she somehow felt like not hurting him. But in this way, she would hurt herself. She knew that.Lack of prudence could make her destroy her love life. She couldn't be rational. At the same time, she knew that she was hurt by this behavior of his. She had warned rey many a times but he hadn't paid any heed to it. And they had ended up in hurting each other. Anyway, that was the past. Bitter past. And now, this decision was like choosing between a loved one and a best friend. And she was once again in a dilemma.

But there was one thing which could pull her out of the confusion-Dance. She wanted to dance. Nobody knew this but Sharon was an ace dancer. She decided to go to the rehearsal hall at 6 because her last lecture was at 5. The college was expected to be empty at 6. She knew that her confusion would be cleared. Dance was something she loved.

Rey was still walking with her and none of them spoke. He was expecting a reply but she didn't say anything. They reached the class. Swayam was already there and he was sitting alone. Before he could say anything else, he saw Sharon entering with Rey. He thought that they had patched up. But Sharon's next move surprised him. She came and sat near him. Rey had managed to find a seat near Vicky. Sharon sat with Swayam but she didn't speak anything. Neither did he. He was on a mission to divert his mind from her. In the first attempt, he could not succeed but apparently he was determined to distract himself from her. Particularly because, he was an intense person and his feelings were not very incoherent. He could not possibly love his best friend's girlfriend.

The lecture ended. Sharon did not concentrate much on it and she was behaving all weird. Swayam noticed this but once again, he felt that he needed to be diverted. He got up from his seat and rushed outside the class. He had to meet Sharon at 6. But Sharon didn't remember that. She was already preoccupied.

The day had not been so good for Sharon. She could not concentrate on most of the things. But she knew what she had to do. Dance. She would go to the rehearsal hall and remove all her tension and then she was hopefully going to come out of her confusion.

It was 6 and the college was almost empty. Except for the peons and cleaners. She could go to the rehearsal hall which was actually meant for skit or choir rehearsals. Dance was nowhere on the agenda.

It had been long time since she had danced there. No one, not even Rey knew that she was a dancer. A brilliant performer. There was no music, but she didn't need anything at that time. She could dance without music.

She began dancing without music and swayed her body fluently. She was at once transformed into a graceful swan and she moved nonchalantly. Without caring about anyone or anything. Maybe it didn't help her clear her confusion but at least she started feeling a bit relaxed. Though it had been a long time since she had last danced, it seemed as if she was practicing since ages.She became so involved in herself that she didn't notice someone entering the room. It was Swayam.

Yes. She had forgotten about the CS-ACS meeting. And Swayam was bound to come late. He came at 6:05 and saw her dancing there.

She was looking pretty, absolutely like an angel. Her slim body swaying away as if she was a delicate person. She looked nonchalant, captivating and enthralling. All Swayam could do was, admire her and the way she was dancing. Because this meant that they had one thing in common. Dance. Swayam was a great dancer himself and he had even won awards for it. Sharon looked perfect but he felt that she still needed someone with her.

Unable to resist, he slowly moved towards her. When she turned back, she saw him for a moment and was stunned. She drowned in his eyes and he found beauty in hers. He extended his arm forward and she accepted it. She put her warm hand in his and they began dancing together. He swirled her, twirled her, without causing much inconvinience. He lifted her up once and chivalrously pulled her closer to him. She had the vigour and radiance of a perfect beauty. Perfection was what described them. Not once, did their hands break the contact. She penetrated deep into his eyes. He was extremely effective. They were moving in complete sync. She was so close to him that she could almost feel his warm breath on her. She was completely lost in his eyes. It was not a different thing for him. He suddenly felt complete with her. Both of them started giving themselves in. She felt as if she could read him and his expressions. They seemed to care for her. She slowly began realizing what was happening to her but somehow she didn't break her contact with Swayam. She didn't feel like doing that.

They were so lost in each other that they didn't hear the buzzing sound of her phone. It was Swayam who did and broke Sharon's trance. Sharon at once came out of it and came in terms with reality. She took her phone and switched it off.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him.

"You forgot about our meeting?" Swayam asked. He was happy about the fact that she had not snapped at him.

"Which one?"

"Yesterday you said that we were supposed to meet today to discuss a few things?About some report?"

Sharon immediately remembered why he was there. She had been so silly to forget entirely about it.

"Yeah ok. Have you completed it?" Sharon managed to mumble.

"Completed what?"

"The report?"

"We were supposed to do it together. Remember?" Swayam tried to remind her.

Sharon had forgotten about this too.

"We'll do it. Not today, how about tomorrow?" she asked.

It was not very normal of Swayam to think that she was feeling uncomfortable with him. Maybe Rey had asked her not to mingle much with him. But why would Rey say that? Swayam shoved this thought off his mind. Maybe Sharon didn't want to mingle with him much.

...Which was not the truth. Sharon liked spending time with him but she was just a bit preoccupied. Dance had helped her. Actually dancing with him had. After a lot of thinking process, she wanted to go home and get some sleep.

"I'll get going ok?" She said.

"Fine" Swayam did not insist her on staying back and completing the report.

Sharon moved towards the door of the rehearsal hall. Before she could go out, she turned back only to find a disappointed Swayam.

"Swayam" she said.

Swayam looked at her expectantly.

"You dance nicely by the way" She smiled.

Swayam smiled too. Hearing this from her was a big achievement for him.

"I can say the same for you" he remarked.

"Thanks. But can I trust you on keeping this secret?" Sharon asked.

"Why?"

"I have my own reasons. Nobody knows this." Sharon tried not to sound rude.

"Not even rey?"

Sharon shook her head in disapproval.

She slowly moved towards him and extended her right arm forward as if she wanted him to promise her this.

"Promise me Swayam. You won't let this secret out to anybody." She spoke austerely.

Swayam was surprised at this gesture of hers. Maybe this was something really serious.

He placed his hand in hers. His warm hand made a contact with hers again.

"I promise you. This secret would stay safe with me." He smiled.

"Thanks. Bye. And I guess you should leave too. You look a bit tired. Go home and get some rest"

"I'll be leaving in a while" he said.

Sharon nodded and detached her hand from his. She went out of the rehearsal hall.

Swayam left the rehearsal hall soon after. Those one or two minutes of dancing with her were so blissful and he cherished each moment. That was when he realized that he could not divert himself from her. Slowly, but steadily, realization dawned upon him and he realized that he had completely given himself in. He loved her. He loved Sharon Rai Prakash. This was the best as well as the worst thing that had ever happened to him. Best because love was an amazing feeling. And worst because, he loved his best friend's girlfriend. And there were 95% chances of him getting doomed and devastated in love.

But then an optimistic voice from his mind spoke " There is a 5% probability that the feelings would be mutual."

He decided to keep up the optimism.
