Chapter 14

Days had grown into weeks. Khushi's health had improved massively. However, she had become secluded. Whenever her parents tried to have a conversation she would stick to essential nods, choosing to spend all of her time locked up in her room refusing to entertain friends. Tina and Ratan became increasingly worried.

Arjun had visited several times but even their conservation did not get far. She always seemed to be disinterested and distracted. Arjun had decided to move to London to finish his business masters; he had realized that he had lost his Khushi. And there was nothing left for him in Belgium. But before he left he came to bid her farewell.

She was sitting on the chair by the window in her room with a book in her lap. But her attention was outside on the heavy rain that was pouring down. The knock on the door failed to break her trance thus Arjun walked through the open door.

"I am leaving Khushi" He spoke breaking the silence.

She turned around and was surprised at first and then she forced a smile on her face. She got up from her chair and gave Arjun a hug. Arjun could not return the hug and stood there as she parted away from him.

He was about to leave but he just could not tolerate it anymore.

"Why are you doing this Khushi? to yourself to your parents to me?" he bursted in anger.

"I don't know what you are talking about?" she tried to avoid the confrontation.

He grabbed her elbow and shook her.

"You know exactly what I mean!" he shouted

Khushi flinched at the pain in her arm and he immediately released her and looked away embarrassed.

"I know what this is about Arjun" she said in a disappointed tone. "Is this because I don't love you but him..." she stopped midway

Arjun's blood began to boil at his mention.

"This is not about him, nor about you Khushi. It's about your parents. They don't deserve this."

But before he could finish Khushi burst into tears.

"Why did he do this to me?" she sobbed

"Forget him Khushi, please." he said holding her gently by the arms.

"I cant, I just cant. Look at how unfortunate I am. All I wanted with life was to find love, to find someone who I can share this life with. But when I finally have my life back I lost my will to live."

Arjun could no longer take this. "I cant believe you are saying this Khushi. You parents don't deserve this. Their only mistake is that they brought home a five years old orphan and gave her a new beginning..."

But before he could continue he realized what he had just unveiled.

He turned to leave the room but Khushi jumped at the instant.

"What are you talking about Arjun." she questioned him shocked to her bones.

"I need to go..." and he paced out of the room.

Khushi followed him but he did not pause for a second.

Cold sweats began to ran on her forehead. She felt the ground shaking beneath her. She looked at her surroundings that all seemed so strange suddenly. She began calling out to her mother.

"Mom..." as she walked down the hall towards her parent's room.

That night her mother had revealed to her everything. That she was in fact adopted. They had brought her from India when she was five. All her mother knew was the name and address of the orphanage. She said she had no idea who her biological parents were and why she was left at the orphanage. Her parents said that it was not important. They considered her very much their own and refrained from revealing the truth to her due to her health.

But it was important for Khushi to find out where she had come from. Perhaps everything in her life had lead up to this. Maybe this was the reason she had always felt a calling, restlessness. It was not normal for a five year to have no recollection of her childhood. No memories of her first day at school, her friends, family, nothing. Thus she packed her bag when her parents had gone to London for a business conference. She was sure she would be back before their return.

It was a long flight and sleep eluded her eyes. She was excited and restless. She was eager to find the answers to her questions. But deep inside she secretly hoped that her search would somehow would take her back to Arnav.

I think arshi are related to each other.Hope they meet soon.

How could I have missed such an amazing story?
A whole new different yet a unique concept.
Their past are intertwined. Greatt, would be interesting. Suspense is dwelling in each of your chapters.
