Chapter 5

Riya couldn't believe how careless she had been, and she hoped that Mihir was ok. She thought about earlier when a man, who had been hiding in the extraction/ac vents in the false ceiling, fell down and pointed a gun at them. She had instantly recognized him as Leo, and she had tried to see if he had any bag with him, and was relieved when she saw that he indeed had a school bag with him. She knew then that the bomb was with him. She rapidly tried to devise a plan in her mind on how she would tackle with him. She was all alone since Leo had asked her to throw her gun and phone, and micro down. And she hadn't also been ready when Leo hit Mihir on the head with his gun, and the poor fellow lost consciousness. He was going to do the same thing to her, when she stopped him by saying, "They are so many police force here, that there's no way you can get out alive, you'll need me if you want to escape,".

Leo had thought about what she said, and though he didn't want her to tag along, he also knew that she was an ETF officer and could easily trade his escape for her safety. What he hadn't guessed was that Riya deliberately got herself used as a hostage, this way she could be with him, and also at the right moment she could attack him, besides she also needed to know if there was only one bomb here or more, since the fifth suspect was still missing. She also had her favorite lipstick with her, a pale rosy one, she could use it as a guide for others to find her. While Leo dragged her with him, she tried to question him and get the maximum out of him and divert him, while at the same time she put as many marks she could with her lipstick on the wall, on each corner, and even on plants. Though he completely ignored her and was dragging her to a basement, she kept trying to question him. Mentally she prayed that the rest of the team, and Arjun especially would start looking for her, since it had been almost half an hour since their last communication. She could see that Leo was ignoring her, she had enough of this attitude, and well she was a brilliant and intelligent girl and if she was also a very good actress. She decided that enough of a strong girl, she'd try being a crybaby and see the results. When Leo had reached the basement, he opened a door, and pulled her inside, she could see that they were in a kind of storeroom. Once Leo pulled her inside, she decided to start with her plan and started to behave as an afraid girl and cry.

"Where are you taking me? I don't wanna die, this was my first mission, and I'm too young to die, please let me go from here. I promise that I won't tell anyone about you. Please I'm only a research analyst not a fully-fledged officer yet," she said in between sobs. Still Leo ignored her and treated her as a nuisance. But she kept on crying, and also evaluating the situation. She still had to know if Leo was alone or not before trying any of her plans. Besides Leo was armed, while she had no gun, and Leo was too strong for her, she doubted that with all her martial arts she could beat him, perhaps only create a path and a few seconds to run but that's all. Soon she had her answer, Leo's phone started ringing and when he answered, she tried to grasp as many words as she could.

"What are you saying? No one will find you, and besides there is only thirty minutes left now before the explosion. Don't get out of your hiding, there's no way anyone would guess you'd be there, besides don't forget we are doing this for a right cause,…"Leo was saying. She now knew that there was another bomb too, and now she no longer needed Leo. She looked for an escape, plus she knew she had to take the bag with her also. She continued on crying fakely and examined the store room where they were. There was only one door, and hopefully till now Leo hadn't yet locked it. She looked for anything in the store room, which she could use as a weapon, and presently she found a broom. She decided that it was now or never, since Leo was partly concentrating on her, and partly on his mobile. She waited for him to turn at least once, and as soon as she got that chance, she immediately took the broom and started beating Leo, until he had dropped the gun. She punched him in his face and belly, and when he lost his balance and fell, she instantaneously dragged the bag from him and started to run as fast as possible out of the storeroom. She kept on running and running, and could hear footsteps running after her. He started to shoot at her, but thankfully she found herself in the parking and hid the horizontal beams. She couldn't run anymore, since she would be an easy target for him, since the parking was completely empty. She could hear footsteps approaching her, and presently found Leo just in front of him. She knew that it was the end now, there was no way out. Leo pointed his gun at her, and was going to shoot her in her head. She closed her eyes, since there wasn't anything more she could do now, and waited for the gunshot. Suddenly she heard a gunshot, and for a second she thought she was dead, but after a few seconds when she still didn't feel any pain, and heard someone falling next to her, she opened her eyes and saw Leo's body lying on the ground with blood everywhere. She looked up and found herself watching directly in a pair of black eyes. She could see the pain and relief in his eyes. Without wasting any moment or even using her brain to think about what she was doing, she ran and jumped into Arjun arms, and started crying for real now.

When Arjun had seen Riya's mobile and Mihir unconscious body lying down, he had been very scared for her. He had been looking for any clues, when suddenly his eyes saw the lipstick marks on the walls. This was the lipstick Riya used to wear.

"Atta girl," he said and mentioned to other what he found. They now followed the trails left by Riya. However they were still far from the basement when they heard gunshots. Arjun's heart sank, and for the second time in his life he actually prayed for a human being. He ran towards the sound from where the gunshots were being heard, when he found himself in a parking and saw a man pointing a gun at Riya. He was partly relieved that Riya was safe and sound, but still that man was pointing a gun at her. Before that man could hurt Riya, Arjun pointed his gun and pulled the trigger. Hopefully for him, he was a very good shooter, and only one try was enough to kill any one.

When the man fell down, he looked at Riya and saw her running and throwing herself in his arms. She also started crying and without realizing it, his arms had encircled her, and he was hugging her back and also comforting her using soft and gentle words. Rathore, Shree and Chotu also were there, and they were shocked at seeing Arjun hug and comfort a Riya.

But Shree and Chotu had been so worried, that they didn't think more about it and went to hug Riya also. Soon Riya found herself surrounded by Shree and Chotu, and all two also hugging her, in fact she was now being crushed and had difficulty to breathe. She pushed herself free from all three, and started to laugh despite her tears.

Rathore came towards her, put a hand on her shoulder and asked her if she was fine.

She was very happy to have such team members who cared so much about her, and replied a simple yes and her eyes filled with tears again. She was so happy that she went and gave a kiss to everyone on their cheeks, first starting with Rathore, Shree, Chotu and finally Arjun. When she had finished giving Arjun a kiss on his cheek, she looked in his eyes and said thank you with a big simple. But suddenly she remembered that she had already wasted enough time, and they still had to look for the other bomb. Without wasting anytime, she asked Rathore to phone the bomb squad and to put her in communication with every member presently in the stadium.

"We have found the first bomb, we are presently in the parking, please send someone from the bomb squad to look at it. The bad news is that we also have another bomb. The only clues we have is that maybe he's also hiding in extraction/AC vents in the false celing. He had called on Leo's mobile a few minutes ago," turning towards Shree she asked him to localize the caller from Leo's mobile which was in his jackets, and while letting Shree do his work, she continued, " and if I'm not wrong we have about 20 minutes left before the explosion," Riya told everyone.

In the meantime Shree had been successful in localizing the location of the other suspect, he was in the east wing of the stadium, somewhere in a corridor. Immediately everyone rushed there, while a team was left here to deactivate the bomb which Leo was carrying. Everyone reached to the corner leading to that corridor, and Arjun peeked in the corridor but didn't found anyone. He looked towards Shree for confirmation if the suspect was still here, and Shree acknowledged. Meaning that he was hiding in the false ceiling also. Arjun asked Shree to estimate the distance at which the criminal was hiding. Shree said that he was about ten meters from this corner. They all tried to decide how to tackle this, but didn't know how. They could hardly shoot at random up in the ceiling, since while they could hit the criminal there was also a bit risk that they could shoot at the bomb also.

They didn't have much time, and they didn't have any plan either…

Tic Toc Tic Toc time kept on running…
