Lovely update Deeps. Initially Arnav tried pushing Khushi away, in the hope that she would back off and stay away from a person she doesn't deserve. It was an act done more out of guilt and self loathing. Lavanya used the very same tactic , where she did it as a need to distance herself from the pain of losing someone she loved. The quote (though indicating more towards Arnav and Khushi) in some way applies to Lavanya too, who had gotten used to Arnav's care.
Arnav had been very clear about his love for Khushi from the very beginning; this was one of the reasons he initially refused to sleep with her as hurting her seemed more painful than planned. The three months became a living hell for him; the guilt of distressing Khushi and the memory of her eyes that held nothing but hatred tormented him. On her arrival; the guilt at playing with two women and a need to run away from the feeling of love he held for Khushi drove him to make desperate calls to Lavanya, convincing himself that he loved her.
At first when I read the quote, I was hoping that Khushi wouldn't do something drastic. The last few lines answered a few questions but gave rise to some. Why did she sound compelled to leave, especially while saying the family can never be hers? It seemed more than the resolve to leave at the end of six months as earlier decided.
