Chapter 9

Khushi was really tensed. What if he doesn't like? What if he doesn't talk to her? What if...what that... these questions filled up Khushi's mind. She was never tensed like this even before her semesters! In anxiety she made 2 plates of jalebi & a good variety of breakfast.

Till her mother and grandmother were awake, breakfast table was prepared. Veggies for lunch was prepared and milks, teas were ready. Tiffins were packed. Khushi's daadi was speechless...she never knew that Khushi could prepare THIS much. She couldn't help but praise Khushi in her heart. But, Khushi was no where to be seen. Amma searched for her in whole house except small temple room.

Khushi was in that room. She held tiffin in her hand, anyhow joined her hands and prayed.

"Hey devi maiyya! I know, Arnav is just my friend...but it's not good that you anger your friend." Khushi kept mumbling when her mother entered. Khushi continued.

"Just this time, pls pass me in this test"

"Do you have any test today?", Amma asked. Khushi was shocked to hear her. Did she hear her talking? Hope she doesn't, but what if she does. She prayed again to her devi maiya. ''Please she shouldn't have heard it.'' She looked behind her and gave a broad smile.

"Um..hehe...Umm...Yaa! Ya! I have a test today! Very important! Very crucial! Very vital", Khushi stammered trying to keep the smile on her face.

Garima could see her daughters nervousness. But why so suddenly? She is very good at her education and never gets that edgy.

"Ohkay...chill Khushi! This is the first time you are going so crazy! Just take a deep breathe, pray to God, take blessings from elders and go on to your mission.", Amma encouraged her. Khushi took blessing from everyone...as if actually going for exam and made her way to main door...her nails scratching the poor tiffin.

She absentminded kept on walking. Her college was twenty minutes away, still she kept walking. Suddenly, her phone rang. She picked it up, Lavanya was on the on the other side.

"Where the hell are u Khushi?", she barked.

"Near Shiv temple.", she replied still being lost in her thoughts.

"What the hell you doing there??? I was to pick u up near bus stand, and you yourself is going?"Lavanya responded again shouting at her.

Khushi got back to her senses. What she was doing? She almost forgot about the person, who was a medium for her to get out of her ugly world. She quickly spoke to her.

"Sorry, actually..um..ya! Amma asked me to visit this temple...So, I just.."

"Whatever Khushi! Stay there ! I am coming", Lavanya interrupted her and hung up.

After picking up Khushi from temple, they went to their college. Khushi was very nervous! It was literally like she was going to give exam.

She got down from the car, while Lavanya drove away to the parking area. She started looking for him and finally spot him in blue shirt with black jeans, chatting with someone...as Arnav's back was facing Khushi, and he was almost covering the being he was talking to.

Khushi, for the last time, took Devi Maiyya's name and walked towards him, thinking he must be talking to NK.

As she went there, she patted on his shoulders. He turned around to look and the person he was talking to, came into light. It was a GIRL...one of Khushi's classmate.

Arnav was talking to a girl, other than her. How can he talk to someone else than her.

But suddenly a thought stroke her. Why is she making issue? Why is she caring about whom he is talking to. They are just friends. And it his life! He'll do whatever he wants.

With this she came back to her world and realised that she was actually, continuously staring him. She noticed that he was really angry with her. She softly said. "Listen! I am really sorry! Actually, I was busy with some kitchen work...and my cell was on silent...and I don't know when you called...I am...I am really very very sorry! I... " She babbled her thoughts without letting a chance for him to speak.

He knew she won't let a chance for him to speak until she herself is finished. So he held that girls's hand and saw that she stopped suddenly noticing his act.

"Some people do not consider you as your friend, even though you consider them as your best pal! Ah! Fate!...I wish I had someone who was really close to me. Probably, it may be you!"He said looking at that girl but they both knew that he meant Khushi indirectly.

She felt bad at that and lowered her gaze feeling like the odd man out.

" Lets go! We are getting late! " He walked away with that girl but took a last glance at her before leaving.

Khushi stood there with a sad face. Arnav looked back again and smirked to himself...he's really gonna make her realize how dear he is to her.

She was stunned. He just ignored her. Her eyes get moist and she trembled.

And when she realized that she was almost crying, she pulled herself together with the thought why is she crying for him? Why should she? He is just a friend and when he doesn't talk to her, what's the matter? He will when he needs to.

Thinking that she turned and left.
