Khushi was shocked to see two fully grown men fighting because of her, while a small group of students going for their classes from the lunch break gathered around and started murmuring among themselves.
NK, Lavanya and others noticed this sudden commotion and heard Arnav's shouting, and started running towards them to stop the fight...while Khushi stood there shocked and upset at the sudden turn-out of events.
Part 6:
It was not too long before a NK jumped between Arnav and Shyam and tried to break the fight, while Vijay and Kiran dragged Khushi to the side, and tried to ask her what was happening...Khushi still visibly in shock, couldn't say much in answer...
However, she found herself advancing towards Shyam and Arnav who now were kept separate by NK and some other friends, their noses bleeding and their eyes and cheek bones bruised...while both of them still tried to kick each other with their long feet, so as to hurt each other...that was the end to Khushi's patience...
she started shouting at the top of her lungs...what the hell are you two doing? Do you think I am a damsel in distress, and you two are protecting me from each other...get a life...both of you!
Shyam, I never expressed interest in you, and always denied your advances...what makes you dare touch me like that, without my permission?
And you...I guess you are Arnav...right? What's your business here? I can take care of myself, and I am not your property to protect and act so possessive...you understand??
With that she turned on her heels and walked past a visibly shocked Shyam and an annoyed Arnav...
Vijay, Udaan, Sam and NK looked with awe at the woman walking in front of them, with Kiran following her friend, head held high and with a smirk!
As soon as Khushi was out of sight, Shyam turned his back to Arnav with his hands going back towards Arnav's collar and failed to catch him once again, as Arnav blocked his hands in the mid-air! NK, Vijay and others still holding the men back...trying to pacify them!
Both men looked into each other's eyes with anger and killing rage, while Shyam warned Arnav, " who the hell are you to stop me from touching my Khushi? I will kill you the next time you dare come between us...mark my words."
Arnav controlled his anger and swallowed hard, unlike before, now his voice was deadly cold and low...he gave a chilling look towards Shyam and said, "she is not your Khushi...and you will not touch her again! I will make sure of it, even if it means I will have to kill you for that, you got that?"
NK, and Vijay were now clearly disturbed at the rage between the two men, both physically strong and equally crazy for the same woman...NK immediately understood where his Nanav was lost all these days, while physically he was present next to him...
Lavanya on the other hand, was fuming with jealousy and anger...she walked back to the canteen thinking how to deal with this cold and crazy Arnav...the Arnav she knew was sweet and tolerant...this Arnav scared her to the core...she started thinking for the first time, she knew him for few months...does she know him at all?

Vijay and Sam's repeated requests convinced Shyam to leave the campus for that day. He was requested that he should no longer trouble Khushi for that day.
Shyam wanted to see Khushi once again before he left for Delhi and apologise for the incident in the campus, and come clean with his friendly intentions.
However, she never answered his calls after that day, and never replied to his emails either. Shyam now was desperate to meet Khushi and convince her of his innocence.
He kept in touch with Sam and Vijay and planned for a surprise visit to Khushi during Onam celebrations...(Onam is a Kerala festival to welcome new harvest - this festival is celebrated in Kerala from pre-historic times)...and the Uni.campus has many Keralite students so, it was one of the favourite festivals of all communities (both Keralite and non-Keralite & both Hindu and non-Hindu).
On Onam day, most of the women in the Uni. decorated the hostels with flower carpets (rangoli with flowers), and wore the traditional Nayar style half-white/ivory coloured Saris, and wore jasmine flowers in their loosely left hairs...Men on the other hand, wore cotton Lungi and shirts to mark the tradition, and men and women danced to the traditional folklore tunes from Kerala.
Onam was one of the days when the Uni. campus looked like a Vansanthotsava (traditional Indian festival to mark the beginning of Spring) stage. The Kerala student group also organised a cultural evening, and cooked the traditional Kerala recipes for the dinner and invited all the communities of the University.
For Arnav, this was his first Onam in the university, and he was hopeful that he would finally see Khushi after some days.
After his fight with Shyam near the canteen, he hardly saw Khushi in and around her regular hang-outs like the canteen, tea shop, and Library. However, he came to know through people that after that day, she went back to her home which was in another corner of Mumbai. He wondered how would their next meeting be, whenever it was...
Her words lingered in his mind all these days..."I can take care of myself, and I am not your property to protect and act so possessive...you understand?"
He wanted to meet her and explain to her that he only wanted to help her...and that he never thought she was a damsel in distress who needed his protection...and worst of all, that he never treated her like a property- but saw her for what she is...an educated and enlightened woman, who he respected for her independent spirit and courage and moral integrity...
He came to observe in the previous months of his being in the campus...Khushi was a socially active student, who gave public lectures, conducted debates and quiz for uni. students and organised rallies for social causes like collection of aid for poor students, homeless people and street kids etc.

Just one note to my friends reading this FF: all updates/parts of this ff are now posted in one thread (one below the other) with the title Arshi ff: that one night I will never forget!
