I am super sorry for not commenting for the last two chapters got tangled in some problems.

But here i am now and both the updates were awesome as usual

its good to see that arnav now knows the entire truth but OMG what happened to khushi!!!!

-Tintin, you got the idea wrong... :D Divorce wasn't for Arnav and Khushi!

*CHAPTER 10*

Then she called up Payal. "Payalji? Come home. I will explain everything to you...Khushiji is in a very bad condition. Don't tell others anything except that Khushi had an accident." she disconnected the phone. Anjali knew that Payalji was the only one who could be relied upon at the moment. She was sure that Payal knew all this; maybe not her brother's contract marriage, but definitely about Shyam.

-5:15 pm-

When Khushi awoke next, she found herself sleeping in her Jiji's lap. Her familiar fingers stroking her hair the way they used to when Khushi would cry as a child. She began crying in her Jiji's lap again. "Shhh Khushi. It will be alright." Payal had never seen her sister so hurt...

She had felt terrified when she had seen her sister wrapped in bandages, all bloody and bluish. She thanked Devi Maiyya that her sister's sweet face had remained untouched except for a little cut on her cheek. Then when Di had explained things to her, she felt so crazed that she could kill Shyam Jha with her hands, and slap Arnavji a million times with those very hands.

She felt Khushi's tears soaking through her saree, and later realized she had passed out again.

It went on like this for sometime. Khushi would wake, cry, pass out. Sometimes Nani or Mami or Jijaji would be there. But Di and Jiji were with her all the time. All the while, she did not utter a single word. Payal fed her dinner at 7:30pm with great difficulty, because Khushi refused to eat anything, declining water and food and milk.

-8pm-

After what seemed like ages, she heard the door open. It was dark all around her. "Khushi?" she heard him call softly. She didn't respond, for the fear of breaking down. The lights went on, and there ensued a heavy silence, broken by his choked voice. "Wh-What happened?"

She felt Di let go of her hand and heard a whispered exchange between him and Di.

Next she felt Jiji gently setting aside her head, and laying it on the pillow. She wanted to implore and beg Jiji to not go, but she couldn't bring herself to say anything. She heard her Jiji tell Arnav fiercely, "Arnavji, what happened to her... IS ALL YOUR FAULT! YOUR fault that she is in such a condition. How could you do this to her...She was actually beginnning to fall in love with you before my wedding took place. I am her SISTER, and though she did not tell me, I could make out. And when you both married, instead of her being happy, I saw the spark in her dissappear and fade day by day. I knew something was wrong, but THIS...I didn't expect. You did this inspite of knowing what marriage meant to Khushi and-" She stopped, and let out a frustrated sigh. "Forget it." Saying that she stormed out.

Arnav felt Payal's each word stab a million times. Every storm in her life, he had brought... He felt disgusted with himself...

He thinks we are having an affair...Do you really think he loves you?

Those words rang in Khushi's head as if someone was uttering them infront of her.

Arnav stared at Khushi for few seconds after Payal and Di left. Both her arms were bandaged and her right elbow had pad. He could see a thick bandage wound around her waist as well. There was small cut on her cheek, and through the little skin that peeped out beneath her bandaged arms, it was a ghastly shade of purple. He felt terrible. "Khushi?" he called. She did not respond, and she had every right not to. He walked to Khushi, and hugged her. Again, she did not respond; she did not hug him back or say anything.

She simply stared at him and lay still,, like a statue, not reacting at all when he hugged her again and kissed her forhead. Numbness took over her body... This was getting too much to take. Tears began to pour out of her eyes...Tears of anger, hurt and joy...

"Khushi, say something...Please? Your silence is killing me." He whispered against her neck.

Suddenly, he felt Khushi go limp in his arms. "Khushi! Khushi?! Oh my God!" he said.

He lightly patter her cheek. "Khushi? Khushi?"

"I called the Doctor already; she said it was too much of stress. And the physical injuries' unexpectedness tired her body more than usual. She has been coming to and passing out since almost two hours Chhotey..." Anjali's voice came from behind him.

Arnav turned around. "Di?"

Anjali came and sat next to him. Keeping her eyes on Khushi, she asked, "Do you have any idea how much you broke her?"

Arnav nodded slowly, and asked, "Di, are you okay?"

Anjali knew he was asking about the impact Shyam's truth had on her. To her own surprise, shock was all she felt. "Yes Chhotey. I am old enough to take care of myself. I think you should start putting your wife in your priority list." She looked at Arnav as she said this, and then back at Khushi. "I have never seen her cry as much as she had today..."

"I wronged her Di. Wronged her so much...But I love her... " Arnav whispered.

"SHOW her..." Anjali advised.

Arnav stared at Khushi's unmoving form...bandaged and bleeding form... "I won't spare him!"

Anjali put a hand on his shoulder. "It is alright Chhotey. I took good care of him. I handed him over to the police and charged him for sexual harassment, adultery, and two attempted murders. AND also signed the divorce papers..."

Anjali had already told him everything in their whispered exchange.
Arnav looked up and was startled to see his Di smiling. "I am not as weak as you make me out to be Chhotey..." she said getting up and added, "Take care of her..."

After Anjali left the room.

-Downstairs-

Everyone was sitting there, worry etched on their faces. They knew something more was behind what had happened to Khushi.

Nani looked around suddenly. "Arey! Where is Daamadji?"

Anjali arrived at the same time. "He is gone Nani."

"Oh? When? Again work?"

"No Nani...He has gone out of my life..."

Everyone looked at Anjali, shocked. They tried to absorb her words, trying to find a meaning in what she said.

Anjali looked at their faces. "And before you ask me if I am alright, let me tell you that I myself threw him out..."

Everyone gasped this time. "Anjali bitiya! What are you saying?!" Nani said, shocked.

"Well. What I am saying, is that we are now divorced...Going to be anyways."

Nani was irritated now. This was all so cryptic! "BItiya! What made you take such a drastic step?!"

Anjali grimaced and sat on the sofa to tell them the story... Starting from Shyam being a PG at Buaji's house, to their engagment and touching the contract-marriage and MU and finally ending with what she had witnessed sometime back.

Everyone was shocked into silence. No one said anything. "My poor Khushi bitiya!" Nani said, as tears streamed down her face.

Arnav sighed and decided to let her rest for now. He just sat on the recliner, staring at her broken and bleeding body and hating himself for being the reason for it.

Khushi said nothing and did nothing. She just lay on the bed, completely silent, still shocked at what had happened in the evening. She fell asleep slowly.

Arnav watched Khushi helplessly, as hours passed by and she balled herself into a foetal position and began to shake uncontrollably. He could hear her mumbling something, and soon the mumbling turned to screams. "LIES! YOU ARE LYING! Arnavji would never do that!" Arnav rushed to her side, and took her in his arms as she continued to scream. Within minutes, the entire family had gathered into the room. Arnav looked at them helplessly, as Khushi trembled in his arms. Payal began crying onto Akash's shoulder, closing her eyes shut, unable to see her sister in such a condition. After what seemes like an eternity, Khushi calmed down. Arnav lay her back on the bed, and cried into his hands, as his family watched him. No one felt like going and comforting him; all their eyes were only on Khushi, who had calmed down, but crying silently in her sleep.

-The Next Day-

Khushi awoke, but made no attempt to move. She couldn't even feel her body, which had gone numb with pain. Her mind was dazed as she lay staring blankly at the ceiling, trying to understand what was happening with her life. For the first time, she was completely unaware of Arnav's presence and his gaze.

Arnav saw her turning and waking up. But she lay still on the bed. When he got up to check on her, he saw a pair of emotionless blank hazel eyes looking at the ceiling. "Khushi?" he called. No response. He went closer to her to shake her awake, and as he reached out to her, she flinched automatically, shutting her eyes tightly. "Dream...Dream...Dream.." she muttered. "Wake up now Khushi...Yesterday was a bad bad dream..."

Arnav was pained, and walked away without a word.

CHAPTER 11
