Firstly, relating to the debate about language, I am of the opinion that one should write whatever language one is comfortable with. But doing so on a website like this severely limits the number of readers you get. That said, this is a public forum free for all where people come to interact and share their thoughts and ideas about certain popular forms of entertainment. In other words, they are looking for some common ground with other people, as happens in other social networking sites like Facebook, for example. This debate, by the way, exists on these websites too, where there is a certain snobbishness related to correctness in language. Also, I understand that for someone who is not fluent in either English or Hindi it is very difficult to convey his/her ideas properly without making some terrible mistakes which might be an eyesore for the readers.
That said, I do admit that I do not enjoy reading stuff in 'sms lingo'. General posts are okay, but when you are posting a piece of fiction, I think it deserves a certain amount of respect because you are spending time and effort and creativity writing this for other people. So why not use a method and a format which is recognised universally and will enhance the quality of your work? As a reader, this is my personal choice which I am free to exercise and thus choose what I want to read. But, like I have said in the paragraph above, I also understand that not every writer on this forum has the kind of tools or expertise to write in the language I want to read in. That's okay--I thank them for the effort, but their work is just not for me. I'll certainly give them a miss but surely that does not give me any right to turn my nose up at them and ridicule their work on a public forum. Why not exercise the very famous advice many of us here, I'm sure, are familiar with---dekhna hai to dekho!!!😆
As for the rest of your questions, well, a good story is a good story, be it a fan fiction or a Margaret Atwood novel. There are no hard and fast rules to literature, but a good plot, interesting, well sketched-out characters, and an engaging writing style do help . In general, I have to feel that the writer has an idea of where he is taking this story, has given some thought to it, and he has to be in command of what he is writing rather than just posting for the sake of a few likes and false appreciation.
I come on IF and read lots of stuff which I enjoy more than the shows themselves. I laugh, I comment on stuff I like, sometimes have pretty thoughtful discussions, and generally have a good time. That's all I need, really.
Cheerio.😊
