PART 5- ONE COIN, TWO SIDES.

Payal was in the kitchen when Arnav entered the RM. She looked behind him for Khushi and frowned when she couldn't spot her. She noticed Arnav and Nani exchanging a small conversatio and Arnav flew upstairs in rage. NOW what had Khushi done? She sighed and decided to go and talk to Arnavji once the curry was made. Fifteen minutes later, she switched off the stove and and went upstairs to talk to Arnav. Just as she neared his bedroom, Payal heard him say very angrily on the phone. "What the-?! How dare you Khushi-?"
Payal stopped where she was, hesitating. Was it a good time to talk to him? He seemed really angry... She heard his voice again. "Accha? Ye dialogue tumne kitni baar practice ki hai Khushi?"
No. He was too angry. She woukd talk to him later. But she froze in shock at his next words." Khushi, main iss drame se thak chuka hoon. Ghar aho ABHI. Aur shaq nahi, main JANTA hoon ki tumhare aur Shyam ke beech kuch chal raha hai iss liye mujhe tumhe Payal ke naam per dhamki deke shaadi karni padi!"

'Dhamki'? Then it struck her... The day Khushi and Arnav had married...continuous tears...her unusual silence... It all amde sense now... And THAT was why Arnavji had married her, little sister? THAT was the reason Amma had, for the first time, slapped Khushi. Tears of sadness filled Payal's eyes... Khushi had married Arnav for HER. Sadness was drowned by anger directed at Arnav. She huffed to his room and just as she was entering, Arnav said. "Khushi, call mat kaato. I am not finished-"
Payal knew just one thing at the moment... Khushi was in danger. She reached out to grab Arnav's phone just as he began to yell,"Khushi? KHUSHI?! Kaun Khu-"
Before he finished Payal grabbed the phone, screaming into it."KHUSHI?! KHUSHI? Kya-"
The phone went dead, and Payal stared at the phone in shock.
Arnav stood rooted to the spot, thoroughly confused. Who was Khushi talking about? Who was going to kill him and Di? And... And woh mujhse kya? His mind didn't let his heart complete the words.
Payal's broken voice pulled him back into reality. "Shyamji! Where is Shyamji?" she seemed to be asking herself... Panic lit her eyes.
Before Arnav could ask her how she knew that it had something to do with Shyam, she had already run out to Di's room. He heard her ask very calmly voice under control. "Di? Where is Jijaji?"
"Ye toh subah hi bahar chale gaye."
Payal was already out of Anjali's room walking out rapidly. Arnav stared at Payal, unsure whether to approach her but when he remembered how the first thing she had said was Shyam, he realize Payal would have answers. "Payal stop." He called to her. She stopped immediately, but didn't turn back. "I need to talk to you. I-"

"Hum aapse koi baat nahi karna chahte. Hum Akash se milne jaa rahe hai."
He plead."Payal ruko. Varna-"
She whirled around and Arnav was taken aback at the anger he saw in her eyes. He had never seen her this angry. "Varna kya Arnavji? Aap hamari shaadi tod denge? Doosri baar?"
He hadn't expected this. "Khushi ne tumko bataya?"
"Nahi. Humne khud aapko iss baare mein baat karte suna. Dhamki di thi na aapne use? Hamaare naam per? Aur itna bada kadam woh tabhi le sakti hai jab mamla hamare shaadi ke baare mein ho. Aaj bhi usko lagta hai ki Abhishekji ke saath hamari shaadi sirf uske wajah se tooti hai... Kya mila apko usse shaadi karje Arnavji? Kya paya aapne? KYA BIGADA THA USNE aapka."
"Bigadne WALI thi," he said softly.
"Ji?"
"Meri DI ka sab kuch bigaadne wali thi."
Payal laughed humorlessly. "Usne aapki di ka sab kuch BACHAANE ki koshish ki Arnavji. Hamara sab kuch bachaane ki koshish mein usne sab kuch kho diya. Kitne sapne the uske...ek pati jo usse pyaar karta ho, jisse woh pyaar karti ho, ek sundar aur yaadgaar shaadi. Toot gaye uske sapne. Pehle uss Shyamji ne tode. Woh toh koi baat nahi, sapne toote per dil nahi toota. Aur ab? AAPNE. Aapne uska dil aur uske sapne dono tod diye!"
Arnav looked at her shocked. The words 'Aapne uska dil aur uske sapne dono tod diye!' stuck to his mind... SHE had broken HIS heart that night. What mattered more, was WHAT DID SHE MEAN BY SHYAM BREAKING KHUSHI'S DREAMS?! Memories revisited him.
