Tum jaiso ki wajeh se yeh desh kachre mein jaa raha hai. Kamine, agar yehi sab chaahiye, toh aisi naukri mein kyon betha hai? Kisi kothe ka dalaal ban jaata!"
And with those final words, Khushi slung her bag tightly across her abdomen, and left.

There wasn't a single curse that hadn't left Khushi's mouth as she sat tucked into her sofa. Why did her Devi Maiyya have to make such assholes to populate this Earth? Couldn't there be more nicer people rather than the usual dickheads?
Apparently not.
Another string of curses made their way out of her pink lips, coloring the otherwise silent air around her in an almost red shade.
There was a cat seated at the bottom of the couch, and he stared at his master in absolute boredom.
The comfortably condescending expression upon his furred face gave an inevitable push to Khushi's anger, and she started. Making a face at the Bengal, she jumped up and caught Damon in her arms. Before the cat could scratch her and run away, she ran into the bathroom.
"You little meanie. This is what you get for not helping me."
And without warning, the cat was kept under the rapid shower spray. Oh it wasn't that cold, not at all! Khushi was not that angry that she would hurt her baby.
Instead, the water was lukewarm, but it had the desired effect. Damon was now no longer sporting that king-of-the-world expression, but rather looked completely trashed.
His spotted fur stuck out in all directions, now beginning to stand as if in attention. Yellow eyes narrowed as he looked at his master's face, and then suddenly dropped.
Immediately, the woman lifted the grouchy cat in her arms and began rubbing him dry with a towel. As he was gently petted, Damon realized that had been with Khushi long enough to understand her strengths and weaknesses.
It was odd that an animal understood his master so well, but it was often our pets that turned out to be the best companions. So when Khushi cooed to Damon as she gently cleaned him and dried his fur, he knew that there was something wrong.
Promptly turning around, he landed a soft lick on his master's button nose.
Khushi stopped her soft scrubbing, and nuzzled her nose into Damon's downy fur. A sigh left her as she laid her head atop his back, and sat down upon the floor; the kitty coming to rest gracefully upon her lap.
"Now what do I do Damon? Kaise karwaaon Rahul ki appointment in time?"
She stroked his spotted, slightly damp back and smiled as he let out a small purr. When had life become so...tiresome? Filled with anxiety and pain.
Khushi closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the tiled wall. The sleep that had been lost due to this chaos threatened to invade at that very moment, proving to be successful as a deep slumber fell over her.

There were way too many lights around.
That was the first thought that permeated Arnav's brain when he awoke from the his ten minute power nap. And also that it was far too warm.
He'd dozed off upon the living room sofa, in the full view of the young maid who kept giggling at his sprawled state. She avoided looking at him, choosing instead to focus on dusting the precious artifacts placed strategically upon the dark shelves by his charming sister.
His pregnant elder sister.
Arnav sighed as he lifted himself off the sofa and trudged slowly towards his temporary room at the Raizada Mansion. Well, the room he stayed in while he was here. His overprotective sister couldn't be without him now that he was back in India.
He smiled at his wonderful sister's loving nature, and shut the door gently behind him. It was remarkable how she was so wonderful, despite having the shittiest people to look up to.
He'd never admit it out loud, but Arnav was glad that his sister was happy. Anjali deserved the utmost happiness this world had to offer. The fact that Vivaan was there for her only made it better.
Also that Vivaan was the only person who knew about Arnav's abuse was an important matter in itself.
Exhaling a sigh that clearly stated how exhausted he was with life, Arnav sat down heavily upon his bed. The mattress dipped under his weight, and he ran a hand through his already mussed up hair.
That time shined clearly in his head, and so did the conversation with his jeeju.
This fact, Arnav had no qualms in admitting.
Vivaan was the most brilliant man he had ever met in his entire life. His intellect, his precision, and mostly his way of caring never failed to astound Arnav.
An amazing doctor, and an amazing human being.
His BlackBerry rang its annoying tone, bringing him out of his deep thoughts. Aman's name flashed across the screen and with another sigh, Arnav lifted the black device to his ear.
"Yeah?"
His assistant explained in that calm monotone of his what the going ons were. Apparently, Stephens wanted Mr. ASR on their Board. The donations they said, were extremely generous. They also expressed their grief over the collapse of the construction; although thanking him for taking the decision to save the Church.
Arnav listened quietly, slowly processing each thought in his mind.
Khushi Kumari Gupta.
That was the first thought that occurred to him when his assistant said Stephens. She was a teacher there wasn't she? A Chemistry Lecturer to be precise. Would this help him get closer to her?
Now that errant thought shocked him.
Why would he be interested in getting closer to her?
Another shocking thing; this thought hadn't enraged him. Unlike the usual agitation that followed after taking too much interest in these kind of things, especially a certain Ms. Gupta.
Instead, a rare smile lifted his lips as remembered their meetings. That woman was...interesting. To say the least.
"Tell them I'd be honored."
Aman received the news with his calm voice, and stated that he'd call the Principal immediately. After reporting the events taking place in the Hyderabad headquarters, his assistant bid him a respectful goodbye.
Arnav pressed the red icon and ended the call.
Somehow, in a calmer mood despite the whirlpool of thoughts floating in his mind, he strode towards the poolside.
The waves were collected, washing over each other gently as the setting sun cast an effervescent glow on the water.
Peace.
Oh how much he loved peace. And Khushi Kumari Gupta, aka Chonu, was anything but.
Yet, only in a few days of their-interesting-encounters, he'd come to be immensely intrigued about her. There was a certain spark about that woman, but not the kind that his senses often warned him about.
No, Chonu held an almost child like charm that delighted everyone around her.
Including him.
Yes, he really was looking forward to meet her once again.
