Chapter 5

PREVIOUS NIGHT SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF NY

A small girl was standing hugging her massi near the dead bodies of her parents with tears on her face while her mausa ji was stroking his hand with love on her head. She tilted her head and now she was standing

. They were celebrating Dewali. Their bauji came out and give them some gifts and as usual the younger girl got more than the elder. Seeing this the woman who were standing near the door said :- " Hai ray Naand Kisor eh kia sasi babua har daffa ki tarhan is dafa bhi tm nay sanka devi ko zayda tohfay diyay hamri Payalia k muqablay main tm shayad bhoolat rhy babua k ee tmhara asali.."

( Oh Naand Kisor what is this sasi babua u have again given sanka devi more gifts than payal like ever before' I guess u have forgotten that she is not your..)

"BUSS JIJI AIK LAFZ BHI AUR NAHI" (ENOUGH Jiji not a single word more)

said Babu ji in a very firm voice "Main apni dono hi baitiyon ko piyar krta hun pr Khushi choti hai na isi wasty us ko zayda tohfay deta hun aur mjhy pata hai k payalia bhi is baat sy khush hoti hai kion k wo meri samjhdar wali baiti hai hai na Payal" (I love both my daughters but because khushi is younger that's why I used to give her more gifts and I know Payal is also happy for this fact as she is my sensible daughter)

He asked the elder one

The girl named Payal noded but without meeting her babuji's eyes as she was sure not happy with this difference .

"Kion babu ji bua ji kion aisa bolti hain ' hamain pata hai k hm apki ki sagi baiti nahi hain pr hm nay kbhi aisa nahi socha hmain both dukh hota hai aur hmara dil toot jata hai is baat say' hmara dil krta hai hm apnay apko khatam kr lain ' jan lay lain khud ki ''bus Babu Ji is dewali balkay abkay baad her diwali pr app hmain kum aur jiji ko zayda thofay diya krain kion k hamain pasand nahi k hamain zayda aur jiji ko kum gift millain. Shayad phir bua ji hmain itni dukhi baat na kahain"

(Y babu ji y do bua ji always say such things. I know m not ur real daughter but I never think it this way. It hurts me a lot and breaks my heart. I want to kill myself for this.. now babu ji this time and even every time after this u will give more gifts to jiji and less to me. I don't like it that u give me more gifts than jiji' may b then bua ji don't say me such harsh words )

in some hall room n the man who caught her from falling were yelling on her accusing her n she was requesting him to let her go as it was her jiji's marriage n she got the papers of dahaij.. they argued somethings and suddenly when she tried to run he pulled her on himself and tore the back beaded door of her chooli and pushed her into dark and now she saw her amma shouting on her and so do bua ji n suddenly her amma said "ajj hamain yaqeen ho gaya k tm hmra khoon nahi ho" ( Today I believed the fact that u r not my own daughter) Her heart was broken after hearing these words. Her bua ji used to say these words in her childhood but never did her amma it was the 1^st time she said this to her' she felt so shattered and felt a hand on her shoulder when she turned to look at the person the scene changed.

She saw that she was circled by some goons and one of them caught n through her dupatta on the road they were saying disrespectful things to her and also pushed her father her amma came in front of her hiding her behind her body but they were many n strong then her amma n one of them pushed her amma too n came near to her when suddenly police van approached there n the goons ran away' she turned around to hel her amma babu ji but found herself hanging from the window of 1st floor cabin n the same man who caught her from falling was holding her hand.. she was frightened to her core she was always terrified of hights'. She wanted to be rescued but the man passed some comment for which she replied in anger n he left her hand she was falling n the next second she was running very fast on an empty street there was no light. The night seemed to b the darkest. She could hear the sounds of devil laughter n footsteps of the gang who was following her.. she need to find some place to hide herself she was praying hard very hard to her DM to save her but it seemed like her DM was angry on her n thts y none of her prayers got answered and soon she was again encircled by the gang.She starts begging to them they were laughing at her they were teasing her she begged them to leave her she was married ' to not to do anything with her. They laughed more devilishly and one of them through her dupatta on the side of road and caught her by her shoulders and with one go tore her sleeves. his nails left cuts of her arm n shoulder while doing. There was a loud scream which came from her mouth she started begging him she used her whole strength to let herself free. Rather she felt a push her heart leapt with happiness and for a second she thought he had listened to her pleads but she was wrong when she was brutally caught by another boy of the gang. They were playing with their prey before eating up and were enjoying. They continue pushing and catching. She was feeling her head circling and at the same moment she was caught by the most rough hands in the gang One thing she noticed it was not only rough their hold was causing much pain . That guy was not a part of this little game rather he was enjoying seeing it. She tilted her head n was shocked as the guy was approaching her lips for kiss. Her mind was numb she couldn't think anything. She silently prayed looking in his eyes and she was again shocked to see his moment stop for sometime .Her hope raised again' but the day was just for her hopes to shatter just as her heart as the next moment her breath was stopped as she felt his hand on the zip of her dress and he started to pull it down n in a evil voice said u look so nave not used by many it will b fun n pleasure to taste u darling"

With that he opened the zip of her kameez to the maximum possible extent n slip his hand to touch her back' how she wanted to b dead at the spot how she wanted to b absorbed by the hard ground' then suddenly out off no where a fog appeared and everything got blur nothing was audible and visible but after some moments everything was again visible '.the guy was holding her hair with such strength that it was giving her much pain she tried to let herself free but the guy only tightened his grip more n shouted " how dare u bitch u sl*t n slapped her with such a force tht she almost flied to the a much distant area and was fell on the hard pavement of the the nearby footpath.The whole room filled with the painful screaming of khushi as she jolted up from her bed.

KHUSHI JI

CHAMKELI

NK nad La rushed towards her. Her whole body was drenched in sweat even the bedsheet and her eyes were shedding tears. She hugged lavanaya n began to sob bitterly

Both nk n lavanaya had tears in their eyes it was after a long time khushi again went through all this trauma and she was weeping shedding tears . NK tried to touch her but she left Lavanaya with a jerk and moved backwards eyeing him with such a frighten look in her eyes tht NK cluched his fist how he wanted to erase all the bad memories of such a sweet person he ever met the person with whom he fell in love at the very moment but couldn't show the person whose friendship he cherish more than his love n on whom he blindly believe HIS Khushi ji. She was going through this again and after a long time she acted again the way she used to act in Dehli whenever she had a nightmare like this. She never used to like touch of any boy no matter who it was NK Doctor male nurse who ever tries to come close to her she start screaming. signs. In her sleep she used to uter these words none of them really coherent "bachao" "bagwan k liyay koi hmain bachao" devi maiya hmain utha lain" " hum apki minat krtay hain hmain chorh dain " hum us type ki larki nahi hain" "babu ji" amma" bua ji koi to ao hmain bachanay and the last scream always used to b ARNAV JI (Help.. for god sake some one save me plz'. Devi maiya please kill me' I beg to u leave me' m not that type of girl'babu ji ,amma,,buaji someone plz come to save me and the last scream always use to be ARNAV JI) . Lavanaya somehow managed to make khushi back to sleep n then turned towards NK n hugged him n both started to shed their tears for the person they love for their friend.Both were remembering the past with how much difficulty they were succeeded in dragging khushi out of that trauma'.

Flash Back

When nk found khushi she was suffering badly both mentally and physically. When doctor discharged her he took her from hospital to his newly bought apartment and he had also called Lavanaya as Khushi needed some female to share her problems he knew her'. the type of girl she was '.plus every night when she awakes after tht nightmare she always refused to recognize any of the male persons around her.. 'so he called Lavanya who had been his friend since last few months. Lavanaya assured him tht she will b there ASAP and after some day she was there. The time she reached his apartment Khushi was sleeping under the influence of her medicines. NK told everything to Lavanaya how he got back to RM but couldn't found Khushi when asked everyone about her the news which he got made her rush out the door and also how he found her in hospital and her condition.They both wondered what had happened to her during those hours. The way khushi was reacting had made NK sleepless from the past many days fearing of something terrible happened to her. She was so fragile already and after so much blood lose that night had made her totally dependant for her cleaning purpose. When she woke up and saw Lavanay she started weeping again and hugged her tightly. Initially her behavior was unpredictable. Sometimes she act normally sometimes she just weep and sometimes she just behave out of place.It took them two whole months to make her recover and it was the 1st day they were sitting in the living room watching a movie. Suddenly a rape scene came during the climax of movie Khushi's face lost all the color she gained after so many days n her eyes were transfixed on TV when the goon caught the heroine there were two loud shouts echoed in the living room the most dreading one was KHUSHI'S she had got up from the couch and ran towards the bedroom NK n Lavanya rushed after her

KHUSHI JI

They saw her disappearing behind the bed. Both NK and Lavanya came to her side. They saw her hugging her legs with her head buried and rocking with fear and sobs. Lavanay nudged NK to go outside as she didn't wanted to make Khushi more frightened and she sat beside her and placed a hand on her shoulder. She jerked a little back and when her mind recognize Lavanay she just through herself on her hugging her she wept like never before. She was saying something but lavanay was unable to make any word clear coz of her shivering voice and sobs. She just kept on caressing her head and back to calm her. After sometime when Khushi was a bit calm Lavanaya broke the hug and took her out of her hiding and made her lay on the bed. When lavanya saw khushi was in a better condition she just asked about the incident of that night. First expression Khushi's face was that of fear but this time she just didn't shout or scream but narrated the whole story with tears shedding eyes. Lavanya was shocked to know what had happened to her friend her eyes were moist but her shock and pain was nowhere near NK's who listened to all the story from behind the bedroom door. He came inside with blood red eyes coz of pain anger and shock. He hugged khushi and this time she hugged him back weeping more severely saying "app kahan chalay gaye thay Nanhay ji apni dost ko chorh kr" and that time he promised himself that he will never leave her alone till the last breath of his life . khushi made them promise on her head that they will never tell anything to any member of RM. That was the time when he decided to took her away from India and the 1^st place he think of was New York. At 1^st she was reluctant but one day she asked about when they r leaving India and that she didn't want to stay there anymore. So NK finished all the work related to her papers and everything else in much hurry and they left India. Lavanay also showed interest to accompany them as she wanted to be with her friend. After they shifted NY they forced Khushi to study further and then with their help she started her studies again. Though it was difficult but she managed and then somehow she started of writing stories to pour her feelings on sheets of paper. .

FLASH BACK ENDS

Next morning

People say tears r the way to show ur weakness but the little they know is when a person sheds tears out of fear or sorrow or tension they might look totaly shatered from outside but in reality that shattering was only limited for some time and that too from inside. The soul of that person always retained the calmness n completness after showing a little weakness through tears. But the most terifieing stage is when a person who used to calm his soul by showing weakness from outside by shedding tears stops it to show himself brave. Coz this is the stage when he starts shattering his soul into maximum pieces to a level when no repairing was posible. All his hopes and desires comes to an end n his eyes always show a dark expression of hopelessness. The similar had happenend to Kushi in the past 5 years. She had hidden herself to the darkness of past n covered herself in a mask n fake smile of '' everything is fine'' NK n Lavanaya were happy that their frnd was recovering tht she was happy but little they know tht she had stopped showing her weakness but she was shattering from inside every passing sec under tht mask. Each unshed tear was like a bullet in her soul slowly taking her to path where nothing matters.

So next morning after that dreadful sight of their friend waking up coz of tht nightmare and pouring her out in tears they saw her again sitting on the bed hugging her legs. She was not weeping like yesterday. She looked at them approaching with a tray landed with breakfast and gave them a smile which couldn't reach her eyes but they did notice but they were a bit used to it so they were a bit relax after seeing her in her normal form

Good morning" khushi said in not so bright not so faint way.

"Good Morning" they replied beamingly and sat beside her.

"Sorry for last night" she murmerd

"Oh come on Chamkeli dun u dare start again the I m sorry track ok coz if u do my mind will b depressed and then it will appear on my face and u know me how touchy I m for my looks. Talking about looks I think I should go to parlour today and I will take u along me u need a fascial and I think a bit hair trimming wont mind." She said it while making tea for the three of them and looked above " no I wont take a no in answer besides I m not ASKING I m TELLING so u dun have any choice"

Khushi smilled and nodded as she dun have any option so.

"And u know wht today's dinner is from my side so I will pick u guys up in the evening don't b late ok"

"U know it Nanhay ji that m never late its our cute Lavanaya who take ages to be ready"

Khushi said in a teasing way looking at Lavanaya who was smiling at her friend

Haan to is main kia buri baat hai. Hr BEAUTIFUL larki tayar honay main time lagati hai"

She said suppressing on the word beautiful

"No no no La u r wrong kushi ji to bohat khoobsorat hain lakin wo tayar honay main paeed(trees) nahi lagati"

"Nanhay ji Paeed nahi dair" Khushi said laughingly for the 1st time she had a genuine smile on her face.

NK also smile and said by touching his ear " ya khushi ji paeer dair its same to same"

Lavanaya saw her friend smiling genuinely and she felt happy and hugged her.

"tm is tarhan dil say muskurati bohat achi lagti ho Khushi" she said with teary eyes but her comment let khushi's smile fade instead there came a shade of fear a fear of upcoming terror as she had stopped smiling and laughing with her heart as she had smiled and laughed too much at that dread full day when the Khushi inside her died.

"what happened" asked NK

Nothing Khushi smilled and looked at him with a little teasing look " I was thinking to skip my lunch so that I can let ur pocket suffer much I hope it wont result into a minor heart attack"

Oh no Khushi ji pls have some mercy "NK pleaded and both the girls laughed again.

So where r we going" Lavanaya asked

Oh I guess tonight we will go"

"Agave and I have booking for us" NK replied with a taadaaa style

waooo" screamed both the girls.

"We need shopping" said Lavanaya

both nk and khushi laughed at her and then they planned how to spend the whole day.

Awesome update...but where was Arnav when she was raped?? Didn't he help her at all in recovering?? What has happened between arshi that arnav left khushi stranded at such a point where she needed him the most...thanks for the pm...cont soon! :)
