Chapter 7: Spoken the Unspoken through Eyes

K; Now if you excuse me...she got up and went from there ignoring Arnav completly...

Arnav just looked frm the corner of his eyes how she left without looking at him...

Arnav and Akash saw how Arnav was not paying attention to them nd looking at something from the corner of his eyes, so Akash indicated Shyam frm his eyes to ask him whts wrong...Shyam nodded and asked Arnav...

S: Saleh-Sahab wht happend? Wht are you looking at? he asked genuinly...

A: uh nothing...I think I should leave now...I have some meetings to attend...he said while geting up from the chair...

S: OK...

Akash: Bt bhai plz meet Di before u go otherwise she will be upset...

A: Ok...Bye...

Arnav went frm there nd Akash nd Shyam sat there while Akash tried to calm an worried Shyam as he was still worried for Anjali...

Khushi was checking the children in the children ward with a nurse beside her...

K: So Tina...how are you feeling now? Any problem or pain while breathing?

Tina: No, its much better..she said while smiling...

K: Good, I must say you are a really strong girl, she said while giving her an injection and distracting her by her talks...

Tina: Really? she asked proud at herself...

K: Yes, I didn't saw such a young girl who take the injections with such a beatiful smile on her face...Normally older kids also cry while taking medicaments nd you are eating all the things which I prescribe you without any discussion and on top your beautiful smile makes my day...Just smile like this all the time...she said while caressing her hair...

Tina: Thank you, Didi...I love you...she said while hugging her waist...

K: You welcome...And I love you too she said while hugging her back...

K: Ok so now rest for a while and then you can join the other kids ok?

Tina: Ok Di...

K: Gud take care..

Khushi went to the other kids who were playing ludo...

K: Wht are u all doing? she asked while sitting with all of them on floor...

Boy 1: We are playing ludo Di...

Girl 1: Yes and we're having lot of fun...she squeeled in excitment...

K: Thats good..she said while looking at all the smiling kids nd then back at the game...

Boy 2: Didi you alzzo try na plz...

K: Ok...beta its also not alzzo she said while tickling him nd then touching his nosetip...

Boy 2: Oh yeah...ALSO...he said while smacking his head...

Khushi played one round with the kids...

K: So now I played with all of you one round, now you all come with me one by one and I will check you ok?

All kids agreed as they coudn't deny this wish of their Di...

K: Ok so any voulenteers?

Nobody said anything, Khushi laughed as everybody started to look at something else bt her, so she herself picked one kid who was around 10 years old nd was overweight...

Boy: Didi why you always pick me at first? he asked in a disppointed voice...

Khushi just pulled his chubby cheeks nd said: Bcoz I love you soo much...she said while tickling him and making his anger fly away...

Boy: Stop it Di...I love you too he said while kissing her cheek...

K: Ok lets start..she took her sthetoscope and heard his heartbeat which was a bit slow, she started to think why his heartbeat was slow...

K: So how was your day? And wht did you do? Wht did you eat today? she asked like a genuine question like she wanted to distract him...bt the last question was the most impotant one...

Boy: Ehm...The day was awesome...I played ludo nd watched TV nd I ate some Parathas...he said while thinking wht he did all the time...

K: Hmm...So did you do any sports?...she asked while helping him to wear his T-shirt back...

Boy: No...he said in a low voice...

K: Why? You didn't listen to one request which didi said to you..she said while pouting...

Boy: No No I was about to do it when my parents come...he said as he couldn't see his Di disappointed...

K: Ok do one thing...you start know nd do it till your parents come so you can spend youtr time with your parents...

Boy: Ok with tht he run to do some sports...

Khushi to the nurse: Nurse make sure tht when he eats oily or fast food tht he does sports after one hour ok nd don't let him eat to much of these unhealthy things, and he should do max 30 min excercise...

Nurse: Yes ok...she said while smiling at her...

So the list went on and Khushi kept smiling and did all the check-ups with a smile on her face...She gave each kid a kiss and got two kisses on each cheek back...

All the while she didn't saw how someone was looking at her...

Arnav was passing by the children ward when he heard children laughing...first he wanted to go away bt he stopped as he saw how Khushi talked to the kids, gave them injections while dictracting them with her talks, how she played with all the other kids, tickled them, how she gave all kids one kiss and got two back...he don't know why bt he liked to see how she talked with the kids nd didn't let them feel tht they were ill...He liked to see the smile on her face which reached her eyes...

He came back when he saw her getting out of the ward and going to the next one...He unknowingly followed her...

He saw tht her smile vanished for seconds bt it came back when she entered the next ward which was for elder poeple...The nurse was all the way following her and giving her the neccessary things which she needed...

Arnav saw tht Khushi didn't fogot any of her patience name or their state of illness...she didn't even once needed to look up in their file except for singing papers...

She talked so lovengly with all the older people...

Arnav (to himself): She looks so happy with all of them...bt still I can feel and see an emtieness in her eyes and pain on her face...Why?

He came back when he saw her walking to his Di's room bt she stopped there and closed her eyes for a while and then opened them again and went inside the room with her smile on her face...He followed her..

Khushi was really tired nd her body was aching frm the activities of the day...

Khushi (to herself): Just one patient to go Khushi then you don't need to bring a smile on your face...Just one patient and after tht you can go wherever you want to go...Thinking this she opened her eyes and set her smile on her face and then entered Anjalis room...

K: Hello, Mrs.Jha she said while closing the door...

Anjali: Hello, Dr.Khushi..

K: So how are you feeling now? she asked while smililng at everyone in the room...

Anjali: I'm feeling much better...she said with a smile...

K: Thts Good...so I came here to tell you tht for today I would like you to stay here...

Nani: Bt why? Is there anything serious?

K: No No...I just wanted to observe her for a day...

Mamiji: Bt whys? We all will takes goods care of her at home...Don't borrys (worry)

Anjali: Yes, Dr.Khushi plz let me go home I don't like to stand away frm home

Khushi didn't know wht to say and at tht moment Arnav came in nd answered:

Nani, Mami...Its ok let Di stay her for a day...After tht we will take her home and then her check-ups will be done at home...Dr.Khushi will come home and check Di...he said while looking at Khushi...

Khushi just looked away and smilingly said:

Yes, I will personally come to your home and do your check-ups...And for today you can visit other patients, like the children in the children ward..There are such sweet children who would love to see you there or you can visit the other ward which is just next to your room...Its the ward for older people and they get happy when they see tht someone came to meet them...I'm sure tht they will love you and its also good for you to walk a bit...

Arnav again lost himself in her...she was speaking so smooth and gentle tht he couldn't take his eyes off her...

A: She has so many different emotions...sometimes i think I understand how she is feeling but in the next moment I feel tht I'm wrong...Bt I know where I can find all the answers of my questions nd find her real emotions which she tries to hide...Its in her hazel eyes...But she never let me look in them...

Anjali: Really? I can visit them?

Khushi: Yes of course you can..she said while smiling...she could feel Arnavs gaze on her bt she ingored him...

Bt Mami didn't ignored it so she had to pass a comment:

Hello Hi Bye Bye...Arnav bitwa wht are you looking at so lost??

Arnav came back: Uhh nothing...Ehm Di I just came here to say Good Bye...I have to leave to the office...

Anjali: Wht u are going? she said in a sad voice...

Arnav came forward to his Di and cupped her face: Don't worry Di, I will come back in the evening to meet you ok?

Anajli nooded and hugged him: Ok...Bt promise me tht you will come back...

Arnav: Promise...he said while smiling at his Di's childish behaviour...

This time it was Khushi who was lost...She was lost as she saw how lovingly and gentle ARnav behaved with his Di...

K: How can he be so caring and lovingly at one moment and then so cruel and painful at the other moment? I don't understand him!! Wht is this man? Maybe he just behaves with me so, bt why only me? Wht I have done tht made him hate me so much frm the first moment we met??

Tears started to form in her eyes...

She was openly staring at him which didn't went unnoticed by Arnav...He could feel her gaze at him, so he slowly looked back at her...Again her emotions changed, he could read it in her eyes bt he was confused...

A: Why is she looking so sad, till now she was smiling...I can't understand her..Wht is she made of? One moment she is smiling with others and in the next moment tears are in her eyes...

All this secretly watching didn't go unnoticed by Nani and Anjali who already had backed off frm the hug...They just looked at eachother...Mami was busy with her make-up so she didn't saw all this happening...

It was like Arnav and Khushi were asking eachother the answers of their questions through their eyes bt their moment was disturbed as Mami suddenly stood between Arnav and Khushi...

Khushi quickly excused herself and run from there...And when Mami backed away frm there Arnav was disappointed to see tht she had left...

Anjali and Nani just looked at eachother and asked through their eyes wht to do...So Anjali broke the silence...

Anjali: Chotte wht happend? You are looking so lost? Is everything ok?

Arnav: huh...Ehh... Yes Di I have to leave will meet you in the evening...with tht he stormed out of the room...leaving Anjali, Mami and Nani confused...

Nani: Bt Chotte...

Mami: Wht happends...did I miss something? she asked obvious wht she did...

Nani: Nothing...Anjali Bitiya we will talk about tht when we are at home...now you rest plz...she said while thinking wht happend a while ago

Anjali: Yes Nani...she said as she had the same thought as her Nani...

Chapter 8: Why???

Khushi run as fast as she could frm there to a place where no one could find her...She didn't know why bt the she couldn't stop her tears..she covered her mouth and run to the stairscase (like the staircase frm DMG)....

She sat there and tried to stop her snobs...

K: Khushi why are you crying so much? There is no reason for you to cry? Be a strong and brave girl and stop crying...You yourself said tht he doesn't mean anything to you so why are you crying over his behaviour? Just forget him and Concentrate!!! she said while her snobbing became harder on thinking wht all ahppend in one day...

Finally when the pressure was to great she went on the roof of the hospital:

She looked down at the hectic lifes...More tears started to form in her eyes as she saw how people enjoyed their life, how families were walking together, how couples were walking here and there and here she was all alone...

K: Why is it only me? Why I have to be all alone? Why do all people hate me?? Am I such a bad person? Why I have face all hatred alone?

She collapsed on the ground as she couldn't take it anymore, her tears started to fall down on the ground beneath...Khushi opened her and saw tht someone was looking at her from the parking area...

Arnav also quickly left from there...When he was in the lift he closed his eyes and remembered wht happend today...

A: Why is she occupying all my senses? Why I'm even interested about why she is reacting so different around me? Why I'm beahving so different? I never behaved like this before, atleast I have stopped to behave like an emotional idiot ages ago...I shouldn't care coz she is a nobody to me. With tht he opened his eyes and went to the parking...

He stopped outside the hospital and again closed his eyes to relax his mind...He looked at the sky with still closed eyes when he suddenly felt something wet on his cheek...He opened his eyes and touched the wet thing which fell on his cheek...

A: A drop?

He again looked up in the sky to see if it was raing bt the sky was clear and there was not even a single cloud when he rooted his eyes a bit behind he saw someone on the roof of the hospital...

He could see tht it was a girl as her dupatta was flying in ther air...

Suddenly it struck both of them...

Khushi: Arnav??? she said shocked..

Arnav: Khushi??? he whispered...

He took two steps forward to the hospital and Khushi quickly got up from the ground and slowy started to take steps back...He stopped and looked at her when he slowly started to take steps backwards she stopped...

After a sec a gust of wind blew and Arnav again closed his eyes while Khushi started to run back into the hospital...Arnav opened his eyes and saw her running back into the hospital...Suddenly he saw a duppta falling from the roof and it landed dirct on his face...

While running Khushis dupatta flew away she didn't looked back and quikly run back...

Arnav slowly took the dupatta from his face...He looked at it and knew it was Khushis Dupatta...He was about to throw it away but something stopped him and he took it along with him...

Khushi reached the corridor of her cabin, right then Riddihma and Geet came to Khushi...

R: Hey Khushi where were you? You know how long we are looking for you?

G: Yes...And know I'm totally exhausted...

K: Soory Guys...I was on duty...she lied while trying to smile...

R: Khushi are you ok?

K: Yes...why shouldn't I?

G: No you are looking pale...she said while touching her face...

K: NO..I'm absolutly fine...I just...I just fogot to eat...

G: Wht didn't you eat?

K: I couldn't coz of the duty...she said while not meeting their eyes...she didn't want them to know tht she cried...

R: You know in sometime it will be time to have dinner?

K: So? Then I will have dinner...she said while trying to lighten the atmosphere

G: Ok...Come we will go now...

K: Where?

R: Home where else?

K: NO...

G: Wht No?? Don't you want to go home?

K: I mean no...I can't go now...I still have to check patients...

R: Bt...ok ok we won't force you bt we can go and relax for sometime, maybe in a cafe...

K: Yeah Ok...

They went in a nearby cafe...and had a caffee..

All the while Khushi was thinking wht is happening at her home...

K: Wht is happen at home? I hope tht the groom is good and tht the marriage gets fixed...I wish I could be there to see all the things...Maybe I should call at home and ask wht happened...Yes I will do tht...

She took her phone and called at home...First her Buaji picked the phone and Khushi quickly cut the call...The second time it was her Amma and she again cute the call...She tried a last time and hoped tht her Babuji would pick the phone and to her luck it was her babuji...

B: Hello..

K: Hello Babuji?

B: Khushi Bitiya...wht happend everything ok?

K: Ya Ya everything ok...I just wanted to know if everything went good at home...Did the family came? Did they saw Payal? Wht did the say? Is the marriage fixed? ANd wht about the grooms name?...she asked all questions in one go...

B: Stop Stop...How can I answer you when you talk non-stop? Anyway the groom and his family didn't came yet as something happend and they had to leave for the hospital...Bt the will come later...

K: Oh...Anyway...Babuji I just wanted to ask if I can stay at Riddihma's place today? Ehmm coz...coz there are also someone coming to see her..Plz Plz..she pleaed as she didn't wanted to come home...

Shashi understood why she didn't wanted to come so he didn't forced her either and said ok...

B: Ok...bt Khushi remember running away from problems and from feelings is not a helpful solution...

K: I..I...OK Babuji bye I will call you later and ask you wht happend...Now I'm going to eat something...BYe...she cut the call...

B (to himself): God plz make her sorrow go away soon...

Khushi cut the call and saw tht Riddihma and Geet were wacthing her...

K: Wht happend?

G: You tell us, wht happend?

K: Wht?she asked confused

R: How do you know tht today someone is coming to see me? she asked in suspecious tone...

K: I don't know tht someone is coming bt I know tht Armaan is comeing to see you...she said in a teasing voice and high-fived with Geet...

R: Shut-up...she said while blushing...

K: And I will stay at your place coz I know aunty will make delicious food and I love to eat her food...

G: Oh yeah thts why I will also come to your place and stay there...

R: Ok OK.lets drink our coffee...she said while trying to change the topic...

Khushi was happy tht she could change the topic as she didn't liked to talk about it...Although Riddihma and Geet knew tht her family except her Babuji didn't liked her, she didn't liked to talk about it...And Riddihma and Geet also tried to avoitd this topic and always took Khushi to their place as their parents loved Khushi as their own daughter...

After they finished their cafe it was almost time for dinner bt they didn't eat anything coz they wanted to keep lot of space for the food which is made by Riddihmas mother...

They went back to the hospital...

After tht incident on the roof Arnav drove to his office...He couldn't drive propably as he had just her face in his mind...How she smiled, how she talked to everyone, how she tried to hide her pain behind her fake smile and last how her tears affected him...He had an urge to wipe her tears as she was standing on the roof...

He stopped his car, took a deep breath to forget her and moved to his office...He had some important meetings to attend bt all the time in the office he was totally absent-minded as he was thinking only about her...

Mr.Malhotra: So, should we fix the deal?? he asked as he ended his presentation...

Arnav: Huh?? he said while he didn't heard a word frm his presentation...he looked up at Aman who nooded to agree the meeting...

A: Mr.Malhotra, Aman will handle all the needed things regarding this deal...I'm sorry bt I have to leave now as there is an emergency...

M.M: Oh tht's totally ok Mr.Raizada...we can discuss the deal on some other day...So I will take my leave now...

With tht Mr.Malhotra left and Arnav went into his cabin...He sat in his chair and thought for a while:

Wht is wrong with me? I didn't let anyone come between me and my work and today I didn't heard a word wht my client said bcoz of her...I just met her today and she is having this affect on me...But why? I can't divert my mind frm her as I know her frm a long time...Damn...Stop it Arnav...I can't let her occupy my senses...She is just a mere girl whom I hate...She slapped me, the great ASR...Now prepare yourself Dr.Khushi Kumari Gupta to face the real ASR...wht did you said you hate me? You hate me more then him...

Wait I will show you how much I hate you...Bt whom she meant with him??

I don't care whom she meant...she is also a cheap and gold digger like......

Before he could think about his past his phone rang...it was from his Di...

A: Ya Di...I'm coming...with tht he cut the call and left frm there to the hospital...
